Maybe I am one of the few guys who like both - Ovechkin and Crosby - because they are both so different and its so great to see them play the game. But I guess that Sidney has the luck that he has an amazing team in Pittsburgh around him (2 times stanley cup final, 1 victory) and of course he is part of the best national team (as we sat at the olympics 2010). ovi has a good nhl team and a fine national squad but both are in trouble when its up to win a really important title.
Unfortunately i think Ovechkin is better at this time, in 5 years Crosby will be better bar none because of Ovechkins rough and tough style but if i could build a franchise around someone its definetly Ovechkin

For many years i was a Toronto fan but then came to realize there fan base is garanteed for 20+ years (by selling out on all season tickets for that length of time) so really if they get a bunch of less paid players they make more money. Unfortunately i think Ovechkin is better at this time, in 5 years Crosby will be better bar none because of Ovechkins rough and tough style but if i could build a franchise around someone its definetly Ovechkin

If you're going to build a franchise around one player, it'd be one that won't run out of gas, and from the looks of this season it's not Ovechkin. Stamkos or Crosby are players that can be the center of a franchise for years to come. Ovechkin isn't who he once was.

@stamkos61 The only "bad" year Crosby had was when he was injured for a good chunk of the season. That was the Penguins stanley Cup year if I remember. And Ovechkin isn't having a bad year, but he's not having an Ovechkin year.

It's weird for me to be watching this cuz I remember watching this draft when I was 11 years old and now I'm 17 just like Crosby was and I couldn't imagine myself being in the same spot as him. When you're 11 years old, you feel like 17 is old enough to be able to do anything, but when you get there you still feel like a kid. And then he had to go play in a league with guys twice his size and age? I wouldn't have been able to handle it. Anyway GO PENS!

@JDJAKS I use to think the same thing but it gets boring when your team does nothing exciting... For many years i was a Toronto fan but then came to realize there fan base is garanteed for 20+ years (by selling out on all season tickets for that length of time) so really if they get a bunch of less paid players they make more money. I turned into a Chicago fan about 3 years ago because they had talent and i saw them exciting to watch and then they end up winingn the cup last year...

I was also friends with Duncan Keith and played hockey with him for a few years growing up and to see someone you knew and were friends with make it big was pretty cool so I have to root for an old friend!
