Where do y'all practice at cause I'm tryna be apart of y'all movement I'm from Toledo Oh! I Usta play for a number of drill and drum corps there (J.J Express, Z.C.D.C, Mecca Temple 43) and I love playing the drums GET AT ME!
point blank period DCI is Boring Showtime Drumlines I think are better cause they entertain u....DCI makes me go to sleep with all that stiffness they be doing....people came to see a show so thats what Southern Marching Bands and Drumlines do END OF STORY!!!!!
I've played in both, look at it this way, Corps and Show are both forms of percussion, both have their strengths, and both have their weaknesses, any many can choose which of both they may like, but that's what makes us all different.......
oh man, its been ages since I've laughed so hard. This is a pep line, something for the stands. not a performance line. everything basic, and not clean enough for the praise they got in the video.
@kashmir323 Firstly you cant read. ..The ability to read, write, and play is the requirement for any line, pit, or ensemble. I spoke on the performance spectrum. ..Now on 'technicality and music', yes most corps use extreme overlapping poly-rhythmic check patterns, but the delivery, tone, character is lame. Never "Boring" but indeed slightly less engaging. (Good example: video your freshmen doing it, and watch their choreography and delivery.)
You all have got to be kidding me?? ..These comments are ridiculous. Most DCI groups would get their asses handed to them. From the performance spectrum- very lame in energy, appearance, grit, and the ability to put any human drive(soul) into motion, ..Now the question of technicality can be the issue.(Yes,..To performance viewers you're a lame with sticks). All 'marching-percussionist' read, write, and play. Its just your preference, but it's in the same boat.
Why is the sound of the drumming so low in the mix? I want to see if they can play a clean roll or not... nice flashy video editing too so you never really see anything for more than a few seconds... yeah, I'm from Atlanta and I think the Falcons drum line would whip these guys into vanila pudding! I do like some of the choreography though... DCI may take a few notes on how to look funky when you play!
@johnthomastaylor I couldn't agree more. I have never heard of them and i live really close to Atlanta. If people want to see a good drumline look up Bluecoats,Carolina Crown or pretty much any DCI drum and bugle corp drumline
@asiandrummer15 dude the atlanta drumline is for entertainment purposes only. DCI is for competing only. everyone who picks up a pair of sticks doesnt have to do DCI. DCI isnt for everyone. as well there are many different ways to play drums. and this style of drumming comes from african- american culture. and there's nothing wrong with dancing and playing at the same time. remembere they are performing for NON MUSICIANS!!! the audience wouldnt comprehend them if all they played were rudiments
i like what im seeing, i just dont understand why the word professional was used... is this a full time group, or are the members freelance? i guess its not a university group?
I wonder if these people would be impressed or just bored to watch a line like the Blue Devils, the Cadets, or the Cavaliers warm-up in the lot. The Atlanta Drumline are the people I'm talking about, not the people shown watching them here.
@danthemanpatrick the crowd would be bored watching the blue devils or any drum corps for that matter just standing there playing warm ups. unlike those who arent percussionist or who dont any instrument at all would more than likely not appreciate what DRUM CORPS do. most people who dont play drums think that drumlines do nothing but throw sticks in the air and catch them and dance around with drum. so that's when the showstyle drumlines come in.
These guys are good and are fun to watch. All of the haters that show up on these boards probably can't play anyway LOL! Keep up the good work ATL Drumline!!! B. Green
@genupe9 Probably most of these people who are here are for a laugh at what a crappy drumline looks like. Its hard to imagine that you think this is good. Compare them to any DCI 1st division or 2nd division drum corp.

To asiandrummer15...you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT in every damn thing you said. DCI would kick their ASS. They have no clue how to drum.

not my cup of tea, but i guess it's pretty popular within its little niche.... DCI/WGI, and that's what I call precision.

@asiandrummer15 You can't compare a university drumline to DCI... you just cant, they are two completely different things.

@asiandrummer15 apples and oranges, bro. you're comparing 2 totally different ways of looking the marching activity...
