Our country is 50th in life expectancy, it has the highest homicide rate in the developed world, is around 30th on education standards. It also has one of the highest rates of sexual deviancy, depression, schizophrenia, obesity, heart disease.

Yes higher than most of Europe - however, the decline in crime has followed an increase in the incarceration rates - so I have no problem when we lock up criminals. We are free - and when people are free they are unfortunately freer to commit crimes as well.
