Not that I really think I can learn anything of great cultural importance from a beer ad but there's a line I couldn't understand... you put "what?" on a hamburger? (don't worry I will not assume that it's the way that everyone on the continent takes their burger) I didn't recognize the food. It looked to me like some sort of cranberry jelly... could you briefly describe what it was please?
@MsColdCanada Beetroot, it's a root vegetable. similar to a turnip i guess... it's not very nice, but a lot of aussies like it on their burgers. but to be honest it just stains everything purple and tastes like dirt :D
@tobyemmajackson I like beets when they've been cooked and pickled. Thanks. That's a fun thing to know. At least if I'm offered one served that way I'll know not to accept if I'm wearing white :)
I love how everyone bags out Fosters yet many haven't even tried it.
I was sitting with a group of mates who all dished out on Fosters claiming it was shit. I got them all a round of Fosters, but got the bar chick to pour it into schooner glasses from the bottle. Told them it was a round of carlton Draught.
I sat back and watched them all enjoy sucking down the Fosters. No complaints what so ever.
For gods sakes some of people need to RELAX! It's just an ad.. Have some humor! It's not like Americans dont pick on Australians. Canadiens and Americans pick on each other.. Just chill!!!
It is true, hardly anybody drinks Fosters in Australia. I moved to the UK about 3 years ago however and its massive here! It's brewed here by Scottish & Newcastle and it tastes much better. Great ad though, love it!!
Actually guys, although this was made in 1999 for the Olympics, the Fosters I Believe campaign was a copy of the Molson I Am Canadian. Fosters and Molson are partner brewers with Molson producing Fosters for the Canadian market. While the idea is similar if you search for the "I Am Canadian" commercials you'll see they're not the same.
i looked up the canadian one but it seems to be a song being sung promoting Canadian patriotism. The Aussie one is a patriotic speech. Have i found a different Molson one or is this a direct ripoff of an "I am Canadian" patriotic speech given in a Molson ad?
dont ever take that off YOUTUBE,ever. I memorised that when i was in Year 8 because im pretty proud to be an Aussie. Love Australia. It sounds better when you hear it rather then view it cause it could be any Australian beer. Yieeeew
as an aussie over sea's this is good to see, I'm in europe and everywhere has fosters but I have never seen it for sale anywhere in australia, a friend told me that he once seen it up the back of a bottle shop behind everything else
Fosters = Donkey Piss. Ironically, Australia's own beer is the one beer that Australian's don't drink. We sell it to other countries. I love globalisation!
Change the flag, and play the real footbal, the world game.

Wow, they couldn't make an ad that didn't try to put down the US, could they? Keep hating, Aussies. Maybe one day your country will be important.

Yeah, it sounds like you've found a different Molson ad. The one this is a take-off of is the one with Joe giving a speech about being Canadian.
I just tried to put the URL for the ad in but it wouldn't let me so you'll have to do a search for YouTube clips using the phrase "I Am Canadian".
