I thought you guys said editing was the unique element of cinema. Also, can't it be argued that sound design has existed since primitive forms of theatre?
@Owdene Don't believe everything you read/hear on the Internet, haha. We made a little mistake, I think. Sound Design is unique to radio. "Editing" is unique to filmmaking. But even that can be argued. Stories are told with continuity, which is essentially what editing is about, so books and plays and even cave drawings have really simple "editing" mechanics. Oh well. We're all still learning :)
lol, sorry but i think that you have codes in your videos, you put hide messages and the las take was wird if i try to decode... or im just to high? hahahha
Go to my videos, i hope you like it, i like this shit about the filming but i dont have good equipment, i do what i can do...
Well, we make sure our recording environment is absolutely silent, first of all. And then we have a high quality microphone. If you already recorded something and there's a lot of hiss, you can try cleaning up the audio in something like Adobe Soundbooth. Use a high pass filter or noise reduction :)
Good episode, though I'd like to correct you on the fact that sound is derived from radio. Think radio plays/radio theatre. I think the only element of film that is completly unique to film is editing (video editing to be specific).
Otherwise it's good, specially the whole phone bit.
Overall you guys are getting better, seem to be forgetting the continuety though. Well done, improvement overall is 2 stars up, overall 6 out of a pos. 10. Sound should not be a sweat, only edited in where not quite good enough.
Thats very true! lol.. I found that when i made my first video.. That was very good advice for me cuz i was looking for those sounds.. i tried to make some myself but failed miserably! :P
haha great episode guys, i would apreciate A LOT if you do an episode on motion tracking in AE, i need to do some stuff and i have no idea how to do it.
very well thought out! nice vid. def on my favs now. nice hat. oh ya your sound kicks ass for some reason. nice mic. i ended up bying a zoom h2 after watcing ur vids. any tips on staying more organized while syncing up the audio from the h2 to the camera?
I have to agree with christiney89 that Peter caressing Sean's laptop was a bit creepy :) It was cool when Sean slapped his hand. Get your own MBP Peter :)
I think you guys have all the elements to become great filmmakers. Thinking ahead to the possible future, a collection of your best videos would be great to go in the special features section of your first movie. People love to watch stuff of successful filmmakers before they became famous. What I am waiting for from you guys is your first movie. I've seen the technical talents, now I'd like to see the artistic aspect of your talents. A style of filmmaking unique of the filmmaker.
yes alot of stuff

It would have been scarier/funnier if instead of calling his buddy, he hit redial and you could hear a cell ringing in the other room :)

Yeah, someone else mentioned that, too. I guess it's easy to overlook as there aren't really any more radio plays nowadays.
esotericsean 3 years ago
do you guys use a wireless microphone? The audio quality (not the soundsnap ones) for each of your videos is excellent.
jeffcis 3 years ago
We use a cardioid mounted directly above us. You can actually see it in the first shot of this video :)
esotericsean 3 years ago
What kind of cardioid do you use? Nice vid, I found you guys to be very informational. I am planning a horror film for Halloween.

Staying more organized as in... using something like a clapper slate so you'll have an audio/video editing cue?
