  • yes alot of stuff

  • I thought you guys said editing was the unique element of cinema. Also, can't it be argued that sound design has existed since primitive forms of theatre?

  • @Owdene Don't believe everything you read/hear on the Internet, haha. We made a little mistake, I think. Sound Design is unique to radio. "Editing" is unique to filmmaking. But even that can be argued. Stories are told with continuity, which is essentially what editing is about, so books and plays and even cave drawings have really simple "editing" mechanics. Oh well. We're all still learning :)

  • last take was ...?

  • Pardon?

  • lol, sorry but i think that you have codes in your videos, you put hide messages and the las take was wird if i try to decode... or im just to high? hahahha

Go to my videos, i hope you like it, i like this shit about the filming but i dont have good equipment, i do what i can do...

  • Well, we make sure our recording environment is absolutely silent, first of all. And then we have a high quality microphone. If you already recorded something and there's a lot of hiss, you can try cleaning up the audio in something like Adobe Soundbooth. Use a high pass filter or noise reduction :)

  • Great episode, as always. Was that red raincoat a reference to Don't Look Now? :)

  • Hmm, I don't think so. Actually, I'm not sure. Peter loves that movie, haha. I'll ask him :)

  • woot return of Rochelle!!!

  • Well done with this piece. You nailed it.

  • medium close up looks like a darma initiative video! Love this vid this is what im studying

  • Nice stuff. Im a sound man so I appreciate you guys spreading the message so well. Marc.

  • great man i learn so much things by watching your shows

  • Too bad they didn't teach you english...

But seriously guys, thanks for all the great videos, they really help a lot.

  • great video. Great use of sound design, and a great way to teach it.

It would have been scarier/funnier if instead of calling his buddy, he hit redial and you could hear a cell ringing in the other room :)

  • very cool!

  • hey nice vid guys thanks

  • Great informative video! Appreciate the tips! :-) Thanks for sharing!

  • great episode, cleverly delivered, didnt really get the end too much. but overall i give it an 8.6 /10 .

Another amazing free sound site can be found by googling "the free sound project"

  • Good episode, though I'd like to correct you on the fact that sound is derived from radio. Think radio plays/radio theatre. I think the only element of film that is completly unique to film is editing (video editing to be specific).

Otherwise it's good, specially the whole phone bit.

  • Yeah, someone else mentioned that, too. I guess it's easy to overlook as there aren't really any more radio plays nowadays.

  • do you guys use a wireless microphone? The audio quality (not the soundsnap ones) for each of your videos is excellent.

  • We use a cardioid mounted directly above us. You can actually see it in the first shot of this video :)

  • What kind of cardioid do you use? Nice vid, I found you guys to be very informational. I am planning a horror film for Halloween.

  • where's the sound effect when you stroke that apple logo??

    Very nice, thanks guys!

  • nice ep ! love ur videos guys

  • nice work. very effective demonstration. you guys are all about the audio, and ya gotta love that!

  • Great work!

  • Great job guys. Thanks for all the tips!

  • Raquel walked into the garage like a goofball.

    Nice video guys

  • I thought the part when he was calling you guys and you weren't picking up the phone was funny. The sound website looks good.

  • I love killing sean <3 hehehe.

  • Haha, THANKS.

(I didn't know you had a YT account)

  • thanks so much the site is terrific.

  • Other people posted links to a bunch of other similar sites on our forum. But yeah, soundsnap is pretty great.

  • Macs rock! Awesome "little movie" in the middle. I need a boom mic so badly, but, little short on the money lately!

    Sweet episode!

  • Hehe, thanks man :)

  • Overall you guys are getting better, seem to be forgetting the continuety though. Well done, improvement overall is 2 stars up, overall 6 out of a pos. 10. Sound should not be a sweat, only edited in where not quite good enough.

    Getting there, I like it!

  • Appreciate the criticism, thanks aaron!

  • Thats very true! lol.. I found that when i made my first video.. That was very good advice for me cuz i was looking for those sounds.. i tried to make some myself but failed miserably! :P

  • Hehe, yeah. Sound is VERY important.

  • haha great episode guys, i would apreciate A LOT if you do an episode on motion tracking in AE, i need to do some stuff and i have no idea how to do it.

keep up the good work guys!

  • very well thought out! nice vid. def on my favs now. nice hat. oh ya your sound kicks ass for some reason. nice mic. i ended up bying a zoom h2 after watcing ur vids. any tips on staying more organized while syncing up the audio from the h2 to the camera?

  • Staying more organized as in... using something like a clapper slate so you'll have an audio/video editing cue?

  • hahaha peter! what the heck were you doing to the computer?

  • He likes my laptop XD

  • is that your dvx on the tripod at 4:43?

  • Yep, it makes a great prop! :D

  • lol forgoten expensive cam, i think not,

usfull expensive camera prop, i think so :D

  • Great work guys...I really enjoyed this episode.

I have to agree with christiney89 that Peter caressing Sean's laptop was a bit creepy :) It was cool when Sean slapped his hand. Get your own MBP Peter :)

  • lol, Hey Allen :)

  • Thank you for the giving the soundsnap website. I just visited it and it has great sounds.

  • Yeah, Peter called it the Jamendo of sound effect websites.

  • great!

  • great guys. keep it up , your number 1 fan from montrrey mexico

  • Thanks. And nice to meetcha!

  • As always, you guys Rock! Who's the pretty girl who doesn't talk?

  • Hah, that rhymed :) That's Raquel. She's been in a couple past episodes and one of our short films.

  • I think you guys have all the elements to become great filmmakers. Thinking ahead to the possible future, a collection of your best videos would be great to go in the special features section of your first movie. People love to watch stuff of successful filmmakers before they became famous. What I am waiting for from you guys is your first movie. I've seen the technical talents, now I'd like to see the artistic aspect of your talents. A style of filmmaking unique of the filmmaker.

  • Well, hopefully someday :)

  • MACBOOK PRO!!! AHHHH!!!! FINAL CUT?! haha I think you'll be impressed.

  • the creepiest part of the whole thing was peter caressing the laptop lol

  • Haha, seriously

  • As always... Loved d Episode. Who's the girl? You say her name like we're suppose 2 kno her from somewhere...

  • That's Raquel. She's been in a couple past episodes.

  • Love you guys! good luck with the marketing!

  • Thanks very much! :D

  • only thing why did he use the flashlight if the light in the room worked??

  • Heh, I needed it for when I went into the backyard.

  • but it was light out LOL

  • Eh? It was pitch black at night. Which part are you talking about, lol

  • time line 3:59 to 4:33 and at 6:06 the door opens and the light is on. so if the light worked wy use a flashlight the first time? LOL
