gorgeous! I just picked up a non russian captured DOT 1944 with intact markings and waffenamts. Even has the CZ arms of seal on it. I love it. Nice one you got there too.
That is a beautiful looking k98k! The stock has really good looking wood, and the steel looks in really good shape from the video. There are some people that would pay a lot of money for that rifle, even though its Czech.
I've acquired a new found addiction for Milsurp rifles, and reloading for them. It all started with my Izhevsk 1934 Mosin Nagant 91/30. I will certainly pick a K98k up sometime.
Hits amazingly hard is an understatement. 8 mm Mauser is a real monster~! Will easily go through 1/2" of hard steel at close range! Much more lethal than any assault rifle out there. I am glad I can still buy those in California (The people's republic of California actually, the next best thing to communist China)
@R5H4D0W - Yah, I believe this one to be a German (made for the Germans in occupied "Brun"/Bruno in Czechoslovakia) rifle, DOT 44, which was then refurbed by the Czech's after the war, and probably saw little to no use until it was sold to civies a few decades later. It looks like brand new - but brand new Czech. If it were brand new WWII German, it would be worth a mint, but alas it is a refurb, so the value is... not much. It shoots well though. I have a BYF 44 in my vids as well.
@R5H4D0W - I wouldn't think it makes any difference. In Canada, storing ammo in the (non-detachable) magazine is storing a loaded firearm, which is illegal. It might be different where you are. I don't know if it is a great idea from a safety point of view, but I doubt it will do anything to the spring or the rifle generally. These rifles were built to fight wars - and 60 to 100 years later millions of them are still running. There isn't that much you can do to them to put them out of action.
It is the "Equipment Exchange", the buy-and-sell part of a firearms website here in Canada. The youtube filter is not letting me post the name of the website - but it is out there. Many similar sites in the U.S. as well.
Yeah, this is the one from the EE. It is a really nice rifle.Nice looking. Good shooter. It is getting really hard to find nice looking K98's. Lots of really rough RC's out there, but anything beyond that is getting real scarce. This was a good find. I think the K98 is really "in" right now. So is the Garand. The "Call of Duty" effect I guess. Prices are high. Supply low.
Watching this, I can almost smell the powder, feel the recoil, and feel the hot brass. It's such an awesome rifle. I do love my K98.

@Ghostie604 Would you happen to know if storing ammo in the mag wears the spring out overtime?

@Ghostie604 I think out laws here are similar...except the illegal part. Especially if the said rifle is outside your home or inside your car.

@Ghostie604 is that a sniper version with the turned down bolt?

Looks sweet, nice and clean (unlike mine lol)

Ghostie604, you're definitely a CGN'er - way to keep that brass for reloading!
I just got an Israeli Mauser myself (1945 DOT), so here's hoping she's a shooter!
Now, if I could just find a DCRA 7.62mm Enfield for less than an arm & a leg....
