Saw the Monkees in the 80's and he was still as cute as ever. And they even sounded good playing their own instruments. Mike, of course, wasn't there b/c he didn't tour with them. Looking back now, I am so glad to at least have seen Davy once since I had a major crush on him in school. RIP, Davy.

I believe it sounds like he took off the original record and the original record played through a record player would sound like this. So this how it would've sounded on a record player.

Though I like the song, it's still hard to listen to it. It was my uncle's favorite song. He was Chief Warrant Officer on Huey helicopter, "slick", tail # 67-16387, hit by enemy fire, crashed & burned May 30, 1969, Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam. Memorial Day & this song have special meaning to me, as well as the other 2 crew members who died that day. They were all impossibly young daydream believers. I'm sorry but I don't hear what your referring to. I grew up listening to all these songs when they were originally on top 40 radio and they sound right on to me. I'm assuming all you have for reference are the songs from CD's or LP albums which are known to have been recorded at a slower speed than the original 45rpm records.—David

Mike Nesmith wrote his own songs, and very good ones too! BUT as mentioned before, there is no comparison between the two groups. In my mind there will never be a group as talented as the Beatles!

@VinylNostalgia That depends on the style of music you like. I love the Beatles but I can admit to the truth that they were not the best musicians in the world. To be the Most Talented you have to be the best players too. For example George used Eric Clapton to play the lead on My Sweet Lord, which btw was a plagiarisation of Hes So Fine, albeit an involuntary one.
