just heard this song agian in the video shop after a long time and can't get it out of my mind. for some reason I kept thinking about in relation to homelessness and all the other disconnectedness of life these days thanks for making the same connection - base line yes!
great song..great video, i was only 8 in 1978 but had an older sister who wouldnt allow me in our room until bedtime....still remember listening to this on the landing thinkin, (about her 78 record player) why cant i touch it? buzzcocks, slf, the clash and stranglers...love you all still
Love this, takes me back to a record shop in Great Yarmouth while on holiday with my mam and dad in the summer of 1979, i bought this ( Everybody's happy nowadays ) but i always loved the B Side more... still got all their singles up to and inc. 1981, for me, they should have stopped there..magic magic times.
This song takes me back high school / college when I was really into music. Heard it again watching Entourage reruns the other night. It and the Buzzcocks rock. The song has always meant to me what it portrays in Entourage: yearning for a loved one that's beyond your grasp at the moment, or perhaps forever.
Why does everyone like to have intellectual masturbation with youtube morons.. Especially over old punk bands. Enjoy the music. I just wasted like 3seconds typing this, instead of enjoying this.
punk music at that time is everything I try to be.. revolutionary, against the grain, true to self.. punk music nowadays just seems to try to have this rebellious, anarchist image trying to copy bands like this but they aren't saying anything with the music or in the lyrics.. this is the real thing
@Slugg329 i don't know when the single came out, but its on a marvelous collection called "Singles Going Steady" from 1979... though something tells me by now you've either found out or forgotten... maybe you'll just be happy for the reminder about the song and listen to it again!
Has anyone else noticed thy the bass and drum riff is almost exactly copied in a Buick Lacrosse commercial here in the U.S.? Unless the BC's gave permission they should sue GM's ass.
@liccleterror its not wrong. its like getting a big pink floyd fan and a big britney spears fan and them trying to debate who's better and why. who cares. i prefer the floyd, but some of britneys tunes make me dance at home and its a guilty pleasure yeah. but its all about choice and respect. after all its just music.
@liccleterror well tell us then ya silly lil twat. whuts the song about. huh ya bloody loony. huh, wuts ita about mr.ive got a rock n roll stategy. mr, im only into cool music and judge other styles of music, becuz im sooooo coooool. yer a punk bitch is all u are
In 78 I was 14 but in Denver, CO. My girlfriends older brother was a sound tech or something at a local radio station- that was the only reason I was able to get this kind of music then. God I miss her brother.
Takes me back to 1978 going down to London and seeing the punks riot on the underground, then Liverpool riot against west ham. Just blown away by such a viseral flash of red against the grey of my 14 year old provincial life.
hmm.. some songs i remember in the past are "victim of love" by the eagles. not obscure but one of those songs u don't hear on radio much or forget about. "lucky man" by the verve in the 1st episode this season. "the good life" kanye west b4 it came out. i'm sure you can get a list somewhere
i had a similar experience. me and my folks got evicted when i was about 12. but we stayed on the streets for a week, only, ´cause an aunt of mine let us stay at her place for sometime...and in 1998, cousins of mine came to portugal and stayed at my place cause of the army uprising that happened there..makes me wonder... thanks for sharing this my friend
Thanks, E ;)
