thank you Ising4u333 for all of your efforts to teach others to sing and you have made my dream come true now i don't have to cry crocodile tears for not being able to sing due to my deep voice and my asthma now i can sing at any level and also not have an asthma attack thank you so much! still working on it but man what a dream ! ( I'm 22 and a happy woman to sing)
@ladyivy21663 Thank You so much for such a wonderful compliment!! I 'm so very happy for you, and hope you will continue to sing more freely everyday. If you ever have a question please let me know.
@ladyivy21663 I was just on your site and read that you are hearing impaired, and I'm ASSUMING GREATLY a possible speech impediment? This is very interesting to me, as I have always wondered and felt that these techniques might work in helping people with speech 'problems". When I hear a hearing impaired person speaking they sound like their tongue is flat and over activating the jaw...can you tell me if this has been your experience? Thank you for your inspiration.
@Ising4u333 about 4 years ago i was finally able to speak clearly but sometimes i catch myself talking through my teeth because the jaw feels stiff & i have to correct it and not moving my tongue properly to make the word because i learned what i saw not what i hear, i can't hear what i say especially vowels ( i was taught by a wonderful patient speech therapist) i learned 4 ways to talk all in one i will post in the next comment don't have enough characters to post it.
my deep voice came from the deep sound i hear when i was learning how to speak, and you are right about the tongue is flat and over activating the jaw. when i learned how to speak which sadly most therapist don't teach so i got the special one :P i learned by 1 was having my hand on her throat to feel the vibration i had to copy what i felt, 2 was she would open her mouth wide and do a letter say C but u don't just say say c you do Ka as in CAtch CAt. 3 i would have my hand close to her mouth
to feel puff of air coming out ( she had to add more air pressure for me to feel it) like paper...
P( < puff of air)a P ( <puff of air) e r ahem uh i probably confused you more than i did describing how i learned to speak. 4th one is learning where and when and how much i do the tongue without having my mouth wide open and my lips etc . i know it sounds gross but hey at least i can talk, 4 years ago is when i found people telling me they could not believe i could talk clearly they didnt know
that i was hard of hearing in the first place and when i started getting those comment, thats when i had realized i finally mastered it , oh forgot to mention i am almost 90% deaf without my hearing aids in the past it was 78% hearing loss. though i am glad i can still hear enough to still hear videos though that is kind of fading ( i have to use earphones to hear it better the ones that goes in the ear ) also u are one of the few people that i can hear all of your words you say :)
sorry about spamming the comment section didnt realized i went off the subject and blabbed, it was an exciting moment to share. i dont normally have people curious of how i can talk... i usually get really negative reaction from people like being made fun of which im used to. anyways i want to thank you again for kindness of heart :) also this video taught me i dont have to huff and puff to talk YAY!!!!!!!!!! thank you thank you !
@ladyivy21663 Thank You so much for the descriptions of your learning. You had a great teacher, This is the same method Helen Keller used correct? Truly amazing and very inspirational! I find any thing to do with the voice very interesting. I too suffer from a 30-40% hearing loss in my right ear, and have a problem picking up some sounds. luckily i learned to sing before this happened so i rely on sensation allot. in fact I will plug my ears to feel my voice inside instead of hearing it.
@Ising4u333 I will reread your post and think of the techniques she used and how I can use them in teaching. Sorry to steal from your experience, I hope you want be angry. If you have any questions or need any help with singing please let me know. Thank You and God Bless
@cafecitojcv shush your mouth, stop acting like u know every single thing and that ur 100% right.. stop judging everything & get over it..... if it doesnt work for you then SCRAM!! i have followed her video & tested it myself & i was awestruck with her videos, i have looked at many but never found 1 that ACTUALLY WORKS. Now i feel like my dream of singing has come true part of it is my asthma & best of all can sing as much as i want without pain or being out of breath etc, i love my voice now!
@cafecitojcv Really can you sing as well as I can with a pencil in your mouth...I didn't think so. Since your not a singer stay off my channel till you can do better. xoxo
@Ising4u333 First, no one should sing with a pencil in their mouths. Like I said it does nothing. Second, how do you know I don't sing? You don't, and if you are going to post things on Youtube expect people to agree or disagree with you. This is how the internet works. And you still look silly.
@cafecitojcv I say your not a singer because if you were you would understand just how effective the pencil technique is for controlling an overactive jaw, and aiding in the function of the tongue. By the way I'm not the only one who uses this technique they just happen to work at a very large university. You provide no discussion or proof of your position and you make a personal attack, so if you have nothing constructive or useful to add to the discussion don't bother replying.
@Ising4u333 A pencil does nothing to control the jaw in anyway. When you sing and make sound, you OPEN your mouth, not close it. So holding a pencil does the opposite of what you should do. You are actually constricting your jaw and making it tense. Your mouth (jaw) should drop and open to free the sound. It also does nothing to the tongue. Just because this "technique" is taught at a "university" does't mean it's right or it even works. It's just an old, misguided technique that does nothing.
@cafecitojcv The pencil controls an overactive jaw, the sound is produced by the vocal folds and directed up the back of the throat past the mouth, which is soft tissue and absorbs sound, to the Mask where it resonates and projects with brilliance and easy. If the jaw was in a relaxed position while open, we would walk around catching flies and drooling on ourselves, a relaxed jaw is actually closed and becomes engaged when opened. You are using old tech. good luck with that!
@Ising4u333 You're exactly right I am using old tech, because it's the correct tech. I rather use old tech than dumb tech. And I don't need luck because it's the correct way to sing. What you say is wrong. It doesn't make sense, you have to clench your jaw to hold a pencil. Your mouth when closed is relaxed , but your jaw is not clenching like if you are biting something or holding something in your mouth. And what's wrong with old tech? I rather sing like old singers than people today.
Hi Audrey, This is fantastic advice! it's took me forever to find something that works.
When you sing the "ee" vowel sound do you let the tip of the tongue touch the top of the bottom teeth, a singing teacher told me this before with just ee vowel sound but i tend to find whichever way with your technique and the flat tongue, the tongue seems to be in the way of the air comin out..?
Pleease help me n plzzz do more videos, lol your videos are much more professional to others i have seen xxx

the tip is down in the v groove underneath the tongue...it will feel like the back of the teeth but it is further back and pushed into the floor of mouth
.reminds me of a pole valter...the pole is stuck into groove and flings the person up and over. the back of the tongue is up touching the sides of the molars on top. when you sing AH the tongue should have a groove. and yes the tongue cuts off the air to be redirected up the back of head
I found placing the tip of my tongue in the "v groove" at the bottom of my tongue versus at the bottom of my teeth EXTREMELY helpful. It completely freed my sound and allowed my high notes the space that they desparately needed. The tension that I was experiencing was definitely due to tension in my tongue and while I'm certain further practice will be needed to fix this old habit, I am so grateful for finding the answer...the needle in the haystack! xoxo
@DameVikkiJones Iam so glad this technique helped. I remember when my first teacher had me do this I thought she was crazy...now I know she was geinus. If you have any other questions let me know.
@ising4u333 nah i wont get upset use my experience all u like :) and thank you god bless u too :)
