Once for all cleansed....YES, but this is not a license to sin. If someone claims to be a christian, but bears no fruit and goes on to deny the faith, they will not make it into the kingdom. Perhaps, they were not truly saved to begin with.
"Do we ask for what we already have?" No, Andrew, you have nothing unless you repent & Believe the Gospel. And if you don't abide IN CCHRIST & bear fruit, you will be cut off and thrown into the fire. (John 15) James 5:19-20 "My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins."
@apollos6640 Andrew is talking about our selfrighteousness in focusing on our own repentance - always pondering how our present relation to God holds up. Not christian, but very churchy,
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9
We are forgiven once and for all as a result of Christ's work on the cross but we maintain fellowship with God by keeping short accounts and acknowledging our sins as they do occur.
This is great truth, the church needs to know..........Hebrews8.......Galatians5:18 In Christ we are complete Colossians2:9,10..............Be set free Galatians 5:1 !!!!!
