  • Bikes in San Francisco dont stop at stop signs they come at you like " youd better get out if my way" Why bicyclist feel so entitled and self rightgeous I dont know. Ive been riding my bike here for quite a long time.I stop at stop signs and slow down for others.

  • @valleus, I nearly center-punched a person on a bike (those don't get called cyclists by me) two days ago, as he ran a red light at a major intersection. It would have been posted here, but the sun was flaring the camera and made the video useless. Some of this problem is education, especially in the USA, as bikes are treated as toys and not serious transportation. I don't think it's going to improve in my lifetime.

  • what is it

  • @Mattyvla, the vehicle carrying the camera is called a velomobile, a human powered enclosed all-weather vehicle.

  • what the hell are you riding? a kayak?

  • @racoonpooon, it's called a velomobile.

  • You must make friends easily.

  • @ibcoleman, I don't need friends like that, endangering other road users. Those type of people are called scofflaws.

  • What the hell are you driving, anyway? I'm really curious now. It's yellow, too slim to be a car, and it doesn't sound like a motorcycle. What is it?

  • @laptopboone It looks like he's on a repose bicycle, almost. There's a cowling on some reposed bikes because one's much closer to the ground and things get kicked up.

  • @NotSoOldHippy, laptopboone, it's a velomobile, often confused with a recumbent trike with a fairing. Some recumbents do use fairings, but for aerodynamic reasons, not anything to do with being low to the ground. There are many different velomobile designs. This is a WAW and there are Quest, Mango, Versatile, AAW, FAW, Go-One, and others. An internet search for any of those names or velomobile will produce many returns.

  • just wondering, but why aren't you riding a normal bike?

  • @andyr798ken, it is a normal bike, called a velomobile. Very useful, all-weather commuter vehicle with cargo capacity for tools and accessories. Aerodynamic in design, about one-tenth the aero drag of an upright bike. Loads of fun.

  • if there aren't any cops around and noone is coming....fuck yeah i blow through stop signs...sure that's proving that we feel we have the advantage, but we don't in a lot of cases either

  • It's unfortunate that while operating on the roadway you are unwilling to obey laws that make all road users safer.

Perhaps you should remain on the sidewalk and not obey appropriate laws there either.

  • i have that advantage being on a bike and i do look both ways to ensure mine and others safety. i'm pretty sure you have way too much time on your hands to be filming such things out of some kind of ill-gotten hatred of cyclists....get a life you creepy mug

  • Your comment is amusing. If you'll look at my other videos, you'll see that I'm equally displeased with motor vehicles.

Road users survive best when the laws are obeyed. Don't you think that calling me names is juvenile at best?

  • sure it was juvenile, but i find it odd you spend so much time filming such a thing...when it's clear to me that for the most part these cyclists used good judgment not not following the traffic laws. if you ride a bicycle....at best when crossing a busy intersection you'll be treatd like a walking pedestrian. i've had people stop for me at a crosswalk and then get impatient because i won't go on ahead because reverse oncoming traffic won't stop for me.i also live in a town with few bike paths

  • I spend zero time filming. I start the cams when I start the ride and stop them when done.

I ride my bicycle using safe vehicular cycling techniques and have had formal training in such practices.

    Can you say the same?

There are experienced cyclists and then there are trained and experienced cyclists. Violating traffic laws based on one person's questionable judgement is not using safe cycling practices.

There is no excuse for safe riding and none for unsafe riding either.

  • got me there, but i believe these riders used fairly decent judgement when not obeying traffic laws

  • @RoseWhiteRoseRed, I'm not sure how this post got lost for six months, but "fairly decent judgement" and "not obeying traffic laws" is contradictory.

  • @freddotu "Laws" and "Judgment" are two separate things. If nobody but you is at a four-way stop at 4:00 AM, then why are you stopping? Because the law tells you to, not your judgment. Judgment, when executed properly, is better than law. Most of the time, it isn't, as is apparent in your video.

Don't get me wrong; I agree with your points in the description. These people should have played by the rules, but they didn't. I'm just saying that the law isn't ALWAYS right.

  • I agree with you. Stop signs are there for your safety. I'm surprise they wore their helmets but didn't used their brains (kids, always wear your helmets!)

Your video also shows another rarely made point. The skill of riding in a straight line. Some of those guys were going everywhere on the road and a danger to the entire group. I would kick myself if I rode like that.

  • I hear (and read about) people on bike (not deserving of the label "cyclists) who argue that they feel they don't need to obey traffic laws, yet then argue that they have the right to use the road. Part of using the road is obeying the laws that provide safety for ALL road users, not just motor vehicle operators or people on bike.

  • Well said. While we can't be responsible for the action of a few uninformed people (so called drivers and cyclist alike) I know that I am responsible for my own safety first.

And that means obeying the law and cycling predictably. I can only do otherwise when my life is in danger. Hope no one ever have to.

    Thank for your videos Freddotu!

  • i never stop at stop signs

  • You should be very proud of yourself. You serve as a good example for people to not copy.

  • Lol

  • You did rolling stops at those stop signs...isn't that against the law? Your supposed to come to a full stop right? O well...I guess we are all breaking the law.

Personally I like the sound of the laws in Idaho...

  • it's not all that clear in the video, but I did stop completely, if only for a second.

  • I saw that law posted online and thought how crazy it was. All it does is make cyclists more unpredictable and turns law-breakers into legal and dangerous riders, sadly.

  • Inconsistent laws creat this too. In Idaho a red light can be treated as a stop sign (all rules apply) and a stop sign can be treated as a yield sign. You can ride on the sidewalk and on the street legally
