  • than the hackers would hack into people's eyes and see what they see >_>

    joke. it's not possible.

  • Assuming augmentation that will lead our lives of how much we depends on robotic limbs.

  • If this robotic/bionic eye is a success and can be made and purchased at reasonable prices, being blind for the rest of one's life could be a thing of the past!

  • Can't wait till I can ditch this bad right eye for something better.

  • @Zipito06 Haha me to!

  • This is only a retinal prosthesis. If you're blind in any other parts, this won't help

  • Wow , so fast!?

  • /watch?v=p6UZ0e7bcAA

    Bionic eye breakthrough :D

  • It would be a great gift to humanity I don't think there could be anything worst than being blind

  • @burraak1 not walking, or moving your hands is in that category!

  • @gtarules1 Sorry ....? ? ?

  • @burraak1 Actually I'm familiar with someone who's blind and deaf, but ya blind alone is terrible enough

  • @dudee789 Oh God I can't even imagine being deaf and blind together, I wish the next einstein oe newton think about it rather building more powerful nukes

  • I <3 science

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • I fucking love you Science.

  • There's already someone with a bionic eye... lol

  • Good, the most important thing to a lot of people is to be able to perceive and enjoy the external world around them whether it's watching T.V or actually climbing Mount Everest and seeing the world at it's most glorious. I'm glad that soon it may be possible for the blind to see given all the fantastic stuff they miss. Yeah the image might not be as good as a real one but I bet in our lifetime they'll improved and losing your natural eyesight might not be the end after all.

  • 1:26...thats..linux?? 0.o

  • @313hummer ehhhh.. yes? of course? 99% of the internet in linux because it is safe and stable...

  • @toastbrot008 hmm sounds about right to me :D

  • give it time once its done, youll be able to have it ex-ray, heat vision/censor, youll prolly have contacts that can watch 3D movies and 3D in general. then youll be able to do about anything! i want my fucking(yugioh) duel disk damn it!!

  • The amputees and blind never asked for this.

  • @Brutaka921 LOOOLOLOLOLOLOLOL HAHAHAH

  • @Brutaka921 ?? Well I did...

  • @karim3343 It's a reference from Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

  • Only about 8 more years left! :D

  • @115Predator Progress is actually much faster than we have hoped. We are implanting the first prototype in 2013, and a second one in 2014. If all goes well, then we will start commercialization right after!

  • 2020, I get it.

  • This is a really great invention for all those in need and for future generation. And to all those bringing their penis in this conversation No there is no bionic penis to make ur 2 in dick look bigger! So sorry u will have to deal with it

  • 8 people belong to purity first

  • Beats the La Forge visor if`yeh axe meh.

  • I want one of these implanted on the tip of my penis.

Or microscopic cameras in my sperm so I can follow their journey.

  • i want an extra eye....either implanted.....or removable and i can still see with that removed eye. i seen it in a film that i cant remember.

  • am I the only one that noticed the year they set was 2020 (20 20 vision)

  • @Nebulon2010 - how old are you? They're gonna release a bionic eye with 4320p in 2036, sure, there's been 720 and so in the earlier decades, but this is improved.

  • Soon Blind people will have their treatment so that they can see how Humans and environments looks like.

  • i know it woudn't be in my life time if possible, but i wonder if scientists will ever make an bionic eye that has more definition than a natural eye?

  • @Nebulon2010 Sure there will... For now they're trying to replicate what a real eye sees, what will they do when they're done with that? Then the bionic eyes will be able to see in infrared, or ultra-violet; See things that regular people can't. At that time, people with regular eyes will be ones considered handicapped, NOT those with "fake" eyes ;)

  • OMG finally <3

I hate using this speech to text commenting program ):

  • do it without implants

  • Make a working prototype first. Then somebody may give you some money.

  • I love when peopel try to reinvent the toaster

cameras have all the technology already .. they just need to be mounted in an eye shaped carrier and hooked to the brain ..

cameras are as thick as a credit card now .. hope u like the look of their edsel .. cameras also have HD resolution .. who wants to have something from atari dot matrix era .. gad wake up people ..

  • @tameas001 very different

  • @tameas001

If you think that it is as simple as hooking up an electronics to human optical track, then you might want to open up a neurophysiology textbook as well as taking some electric engineering courses to realize how different they are.

  • @tameas001

Yeah because the Brain has a USB and basically works like a computer right rofl... Seriously how stupid can people be

  • i'll wait for hd

  • I hope they will develop the technology soon to help those blind peoples out there.

  • @Luccasio1 2016-2019 1000 electrode (like 1000 pixel screen)

  • Fuck i want one once their perfected

  • i Have Bionic Penis

  • What I'd like to know is - where do you keep the battery? Up your nose?

  • @sphinxart solar cells? xD I'm betting it will be loaded after and before using. Unless we will develope thermonuclear cells by 2020. Or maybe even energy coming from our bodies' heat. There are plenty of possibilities.

  • @sphinxart up another hole. 3 guesses where

  • gordie LaForge lawl

  • His vision is augmented

  • i want it :O

  • things would be alot easier if they just let scientists clone body parts.

  • Why cant you invent a scouter with a sound ITS OVER NINE THOUSAND!

  • I just want bionic arms and legs and muscles and tendons/ligaments/joints so I can run more than 60 mph and lift medium sized cars over my head.

  • "6 months of there lives" sounds alot more than "half a year"

  • @sondreixixv Yeah he made it sound like it was the most strenuous task in the world with compliments to the background music. PHD students = grad students working to get their PHD. The choice of words used to promote this bionic eye was irritating to say the least. If you haven't checked the progress on bionic eyes lately you should since it has advanced significantly, as well as bionic body parts.

  • I would rip out my eyes to have these instead.

  • TERMINATOR! Hahahaha who watch dat show? lol...

  • @Urehs thats definitely wrong, God created us out of the dirt, yes us with all of the complex parts that make up the human body. Who are we to say that we can even be compared to His Wonderful Craftmanship?

  • @SuperBluepowerranger If a father has a son and that son creates an invention, is it his fathers work? No, because that father did jack shit while his son toiled over and made his own lifes work.

God didn't help us to get where we are, we fought tooth and nail on our own and we'll always keep moving onwards with or without him.

  • Absolutely amazing. Its only about a few hundred years away from star wars.

  • kdc43,

You could do all the praying you like, I'm sure God is a nice guy but you wouldn't get your sight back.

Think before making such blithe unsubstantiated comments. Some people out there are in a less fortunate position than yourself.

  • now we can save those dang penguins now !

  • this will be awesome for blind people they can see then !

  • This is such a cool procedure. I hope folks who want and need this can get access to it!

  • if god can do it, so can we

  • @Urehs All our BEST scientists COMBINED are just a bunch of inexperienced rank amatures compared to God.

  • Soon we will be transformers XD

  • Well there's already Glasses that adjust to vision. (u don't have to take off your glasses when it's not needed etc) cool stuff!

  • Just want until we figure out quantum computing, these fuzzy images will be able to more clear than we see with our nature eye.

Don't know if these is "good" or not, but surely is amazing.

  • this is ridiculous! ridiculously awesome!

what else is possible? perhaps a direct connection from the eye to a microcomputer?

  • God bless you for this!!! I love you all

  • THIS IS ONE PEICE OF DESTROYING JOHN CARTER!!! MWAHAHAHA

  • i cant wait to be able to see like a fly!

  • People sure do have a lot of time on their hands.

  • @Kx1942O2212 tis called a job.

  • @hackskillz1 It's called just ignoring such silly comments. c(:

  • I Want A Body Like Terminator Is That Possible???

  • @MrOnLiNePlAyEr101

No. Give it maybe 20-30 years though.

  • Watch Ghost in the Shell, than you get s glimpse of what is to come!

  • Idk our sight is so delicate. I wouldnt get one until I was old enough to stop caring about my eyes.

  • My guess is that stem cell therapies will have us re-growing body parts long before bionic technology goes very far. Look at the low-resolution picture on that monitor. Would your rather have that, or your real eye back?

(I'm sure many mouth-breathing 12-year-olds will say "The Borg eye! It looks cool!" but get real.)

  • @racookster But there is a limit in terms of what you can get from organic parts while you need to understand if this technology advances you could install this eye and gain infra red specter, thermal vision and night vision.

  • @slyster12 Why not do the same with biology, Slyster? Animals already have that. Much ado has been made about nanotechnology, but what's more compact, complex and versatile than a living cell? It's even self-replicating. As we learn more about the human genome (only recently completely mapped), we'll be able to design genomes on a computer: one which will probably utilize biological tissue itself.

Much to the disappointment of gamers and techno geeks, the ultimate machines are biological.

  • i like to be a cybor it would be awesome

  • I knew you Aussies were good for something, besides Crocodile Dundee and Mark "Jacko" Jackson!

  • Cyborgs FTW!!!

  • What if it gets a virus and you can't stop scratching it? Will their be a preinstalled trial version of McAfee?

  • So, will it be possible to connect to the internet via wi-fi with this thing, and watch holographic porn...THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

  • this is so cool

  • This is a cybernetic eye, not a bionic eye. A bionic device is a device the design of which mimics a biological design. A cybernetic device is a device that is incorporated in a living organism.

  • Sometimes I wish I could live for 300 more years, just to see what will come out of technology.

  • would this also work for people who have damaged optical nerves? im guessing it wont... if im wrong please correct me...

  • i want thermal and night vision with minimum 10X optic zoom -.-

  • @geniemist yeah zoom will be nice. Also with recording ability lol

  • @geniemist and video recording

  • @geniemist totally epicnesss, screw normal eyes when u have night vision with zoom

  • "Cyborgs" is a rather vulgar idea. Given we are rapidly advancing to the point of compact and very accurate mechanic replacements for the human body I sincerely doubt people are just going to go rounding people up and outfitting them with electronic chip units to control peoples thoughts or to read them.

  • theres a woman already whom has a bionic eye well its a chip that goes behind the eye (improves eyesite)

  • What makes the bionic eye the most advanced technology used around the world?

  • @kjs91 Its over 9000!

  • i think in the future everyone will be able to see through clothes and have a mechanical dick 10 inches long

  • @monkeyjr58 me too.

  • @monkeyjr58 well they can see through your clothes already at the airport, and for about 2 grand you can get a penile implant.so yea not the future right nooooowww.

  • @monkeyjr58 They're called dildos, and no I don't want one.

  • @monkeyjr58 well tthe future is now

  • @kjs91 IT'S OVER 9000!!!!

  • I'm gonna fuckup my eye just so I can get one of those

  • Comment removed

  • i wonder if they make bionic dick O_O

  • awesome man. uh can i see through clothing now? just wondering :D

  • This is so kewl!

Maybe they could also put in different visions in the eye. Maybe like X-ray vision, heat sensor, magnify, long distance, even better... go on the internet on your eye!

(maybe a listen to music on your eye? Maybe that may sound a little bit too funny, but there are many ideas yet to exist!)

  • @photolitherland i agree!! :3

  • A bionic eye has already been made.

    Look:

    /watch?v=696dxY6BYBM

  • by 2100 people will be more like robots and robots will be more organic like people.

  • I'll be back.

  • big processors facilities could help them. Then the chip would be even smaller. Tens, hundrets of times smaller.

  • awsome!

  • a lady allready has a Bionic eye so there out

  • when i was 13 i was in an accident that had my right eye completely removed tho the mussel tissue and nerve endings still remain..... whats the possibility of a completely artificial bionic/ cyborg eye implant connecting to the existing nerves ?

  • repleicing lost parts of body teat is genues and briliand

  • they should make it so that it has different views like night vision or xray or thermal.

thats after they prefect it of course.

  • i swear to god by 2020 the whole world will be full of robots

  • no one would hav to worry about being blind =)

  • @thebiolizard if your rich :P

  • how will it get power?

  • @evil1eldude

    solar, maybe...

  • I wish theyd test it in a blind person instead of speculating what they "might see". Thats a huge leap, considering that if you were blind from birth, then suddenly gained full use of an eye at aged 30, your brain still wouldnt know wtf it is seeing..

  • That is really amazing. I love to see people using their brains to solve real problems instead of figuring out new ways of killing each other. Now we need to make it look like the Geordi La Forge prosthesis. :-)

  • Congratulations to the team! Nicely done!

  • can u imagine how much joy this bionic eye can give to blind people?

  • can we create a first bionic man/android and a first human machine/cyborg in the nearly future..?

  • can we create a first bionic man/android and a first human machine/cyborg in the nearly future..?

  • nice..!!! astig..!!! xD

  • wow

  • Augmenting Man and Machine into one perfect sapient being.

  • This is great! This is only the beginning. I can only imagine where this technology will lead to in the future.

  • Gentlemen, we can rebuild him.

    We have the technology.

We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man.

  • @eyhexs it's true..!!! In the near future,we can rebuild a modern man with no ugly traits..!!! we,humans can create a perfect man in the near future...we can create a first bionic man...!!! nice technology..!!! xD

  • @eyhexs it's true..!!! In the near future,we can rebuild a modern man with no ugly traits..!!! we,humans can create a perfect man in the near future...we can create a first bionic man...!!! nice technology..!!! xD

  • Shit resolution !!!!! Have a long road until get a decent image .

  • @jerryaltman -> But for someone who can't see its graet stuff

  • @Galhardos Yes, but probably steam cells will cure the retin problems before the digital resolution became equal to a health eye resolution.

I'm sure that in 70 or 100 years that will be bionic eyes with infra red view, night-view, zoom, filters, etc, and maybe a internet interface with small windows in the view area and activated by brain comands.

  • @jerryaltman the thing u said is right...give them 70-100 years to create a perfect bionic human eye with many other options like we humans have...and we have to connect a human to a machine, like the brain command...

  • @punkaholix121 What scares is that humans start to live a fake life in future, a artificial or virtual world, similar to Matrix film. Even today people already starded something like that, with lives of internet, cyber friends, virtual cities and virtual relations. How will be in future if technology developed sofsticated devices, like 3D with tact feeling, or even to connect images or virtual environments direct to the brain.

  • @punkaholix121 Imagine a device to connect in the brain and it would make you be a Superman in a virtual environment.

Maybe some people will opt to live in a kind of Matrizx, live in a cyber dreamland or something like that Willian Shatner (Captain Kirk in Star Trek), wrote a series called Teck War, that places in a near future and the drug was a ship that with a device to place on head make peole be in a virtual realistic world, and make people be addicted like cocain addicteds of today.

  • awesome, thanks for the uplaod!

  • If this becomes possible, Think of what comes next... Once created and functional their next objective could be inputting data into the eye so we could visually see it (if that makes sense). A little like some movies where you see glasses with visual data running behind them.

Scientists are already talking about chips being implanted into people, our world may be a very scary place in a couple decades. Films and TV with all the tech we see, may well become a true case... (watch Dollhouse)

  • meehguys i really feel lonely today anyone wanna chat

  • cest

  • stumbled...

  • Great work guys. Keep it up and good luck! :D

  • i think when the future goes on more people will turn into cybors.

  • @ratednom probably like in ''I robot'' there will be people hwo just use prostetic libs or organs made with this technology

  • @ratednom Humans become like robots as robots become like humans :).

  • @ratednom

    Cyborgs numb nuts

    androids=Artificial Intelligence

    cyborg=Human being with robot parts

  • @ratednom

I'm not falling for skynet's traps...

  • @ratednom

yeah and thats pretty cool i think!

  • @ratednom ...and they'll be able to spell better than you-it's C-Y-B-O-R-G-S.

  • I injured my left eye as a boy. I will never be able to read out of my left eye. Perhaps I could obtain a "bionic eye" someday, after its technology becomes more sophisticated.

  • @dellaire11 i hope you will. :) take care of you.

  • @dellaire11 It's very likely that you'll get one or something alike to get your normal vision back..

  • @dellaire11 sorry to hear :(

im sure they will work it out "D

  • @dellaire11

I certainly hope this will be the future :)

  • @dellaire11 dont worry science never fails mate :)

  • its the solid eye

  • WE ARE BORG!!!...

  • Stop discussing about marijuana on random videos.

  • Fantaztig

As far as I know, they had only reached to stage 3 on the bionic eye, which only allows you to see blobs of light in black and white. Stage 4 is being worked on, which will have about twice the resolution of stage 3, but it's still going to be black and white. We wont reach fully colored bionic eyes until stage 6 or even 7.

  • but i
