  • It's a bum and his graffiti people, people hand him quarters, officer wants to take her away, and someones endin up in a stretcher. He's a tagger. Fuck yes.

  • Its not a women its a weed plant -__-

  • I think it's open to interpretation folks. Literally it seems to be about a panhandler who is in love with a mural, but heroin or the artist idea makes sense too. Great song no matter what it means.

  • one of my favorites

  • You're incorrect... it's about Heroin. Often referred to as a woman in songs. 40 feet tall because she has complete control of his life. Yes he is homeless, referring to a past time in his life. He never leaves her side because the withdrawals are too intense. "Cars drive by just so they can see her" refers to life on skid row where cars drive by all night to buy heroin. "she's gonna testify down at the Navy" The Navy is a Detox center where you can get free drugs to ease opiate detox symptoms

  • mr officer if u ve come to take her....then that means one of us gonna end up in a stretcher.... \m/

  • @gnomy13 So ur saying that a painting is gonna testify on his behalf, down at the navy!!!

  • she's the only one alive who knows that i'm not crazy

  • love it <3

  • i dont know what this song is about or wat its talking about but for some reason i really like this song alot.......... great song.

  • the ending of this song is also the beginning of My Way Home by Citizens Cope. :)

  • best song like everrr :)

  • how can you not like this song?

  • Great song with such a soulful sound, there are many interpretations to it may it be about a past love, a drug addict or dealer, a symbolism of a painting on the side of a building, or even justice and liberty. Whatever it may be it's a great piece and is one of my favorites.

    Props to you Clarence

  • im an old man set in my music and this has touched my soul

  • Who is "the woman that he loves?"

  • @gnomy13 his drug addiction

  • @gnomy13 it's not a woman. this song is a metaphor. it means that he is in love with his artwork and he would do anything in his power to keep it safe. that's why she never bats an eye, she's a painting. and she is the only one who knows he's not crazy, shes not real. and that's why he says that they call his lady a painting, cuz she is 1

  • @gnomy13 I think it's about a homeless man that has fallen inlove with a billboard of a movie star. From when he says "the woman that I love is forty feet tall, she's a movie star, she's all in the papers" to when he says "cars drive by, just so they can see her and she never bats an eye when someone takes her picture." Then he says "for some odd reason, they're calling you a painting." Either its a painting of a woman that he's fallen inlove with or it's a billboard of a woman.
