This ended up being my favorite, but it took a while to grow on me. Best quest/side job story writing, main story ending not as good as first game. In fact the end of this game was the easiest. Just blow away a few guys and go to helicoptor. Clear sky's ending is hard if you chase strelok through portals. SoC was pretty hardcore from the sheer fact that if you didn't bring rad protection you're screwed.

THQ wants to focus on their ,,core games", so the game was delayed for extra polish OR to include a MULTIPLAYER mode. (Since every successful franchise HAS TO HAVE some kind of a mp component. *sarcasm*)
Now, i would love a mp mode if it's done right, but the game could get lower scores if that mode is a fail. Man, i'd rather have an engaging story. Here's hoping that M: LL will be a hit.

I crouched and was ready to sneak but then this asshole stands up and starts shooting off the bloodsuckers. I'm like WTF are you doing, but then I saw the bloodsuckers aren't waking up. He took out about 3 bloodsuckers and I toss a grenade. Of course the grenade wakes them...
It'd be nice if they translated what they actually say into English in the English version. I could be hiding and for all I know some guy I'm spying on is saying to his friend:
"Fancy shooting that moron who thinks we can't see him?"
One of the best game series ever. The way it's based around the Chernobyl disaster & exclusion zone, I find just awesome. If you read up on the actual zone & everything that was happening around at that time over there, it's just crazy .. And Pripyat looks damn accurate, it's almost creepy, but that all adds to why this game is FUCKING GREAT.
@J0SlAH The 3 stalkers were all on Xray Engine. STALKER 2 is on a new engine. Its like GTA. GTA 3, GTA VC, GTA SA, LCS, VCS were all on the same engine. Then GTA 4 came out.
A smart company would buy the license of this game, rework the graphics a bit, and then make it "return to chernobyl". If their budget is not too high, make it more of an artsy horror game like Amnesia.

Does anyone else experience these strange screen rips/jerkyness every 100meters or so? Its as if its buffering the rest of the map while playing :S (loading disk symbol maybe?) Its gone after playing in the same area for a tad longer though.
Pripyat is just like a ghost town here, but dont rely on it cuz youl be jumped by mutants and monoliths
Is this game anything like fallout 1 or 2? There sould be more postapocalyptic games and less fps games. I heard you can´t enter every building in s.t.a.l.k.e.r. witch is also sad because I would love to explore prypjat irl.

its funny i saw this game at gamestop like a week ago i had the choice between stalker or dead space i bought dead space mainly because i had the second one all i needed is one so now looking at this game i think i should of got this one and plus this was my first time knowing the stalker series so probobly i will save my money again so i can by all of them because ive been busy looking at traliers of the the stalker series and they LOOK BADASSSSSSS!!!!!

@luc1234b There are all sorts of mutants, but i can tell you straight away: dogs are the least of the bunch to worry about. They are the most common ones though.
Try using shotguns or smgs on em: the whole group sometimes runs off if you kill a few of em, which gives you some breathing space to run off. Also, there kinda blind (theyr called blind dogs) so if you kill your flashlight and move silently (slow, dont hit any brushes) they might not even notice you. Try using silencers on em too.

If you just break in a room while there are a bunch of guys ready to shoot you,they'll kill you. duh.And body armor doesn't last for ever.In real life too,it slowly get damaged by bullets and eventually breaks and becomes useless.

The best 2-weapon combo for Zaton, at least in my experience, is the AKS-74 and the Chaser. Best armor for all-around use is the Berill 5M (once you can afford it). Once you no longer have to worry about money, the AN-94 becomes a good standard-issue rifle. Combine with the Chaser, Eliminator, or Frasier, and you have a versatile and economical combo.
I recommend ordering the "Frasier" MP5 (aka "Cutter"), a .45 caliber SMG, from Nimble. Not as economical as the Chaser since it costs more to fix, but the ammo's lighter so you can carry more. It's about as good as a shotgun against bloodsuckers. A shotgun will get the job done faster at toe-to-toe range but the Frasier will spare you from having to get that close while still hitting the target reasonably hard per shot.

they increase weight limit of inventory, add automatic healing feature (auto-bandage), automatic anti-rad system with certain suits, increases accuracy of all guns, reduces all damage, adds teleportation-cheat ...
If you want a REAL bug-fixer mod, check Zone Reclamation Project 1.7. If you want nice visuals without big FPS hit, get Absolute Nature, Stalker Weather Overhaul and Shaders MAX -mods.
@yobobjm In US / EU versions they do speak english by default. In the vid it's either a RUS version modded to have english text, or english version modded to have russian language.
It's the original russian version which i got from a friend. It was a review copy back in the day. I'm an extreme post-apocaliptic/sci-fi game fan, and i'd do almost anything to get my hands on these games. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was/is an old favorite of mine, because it blended sci-fi and hopelesness perfectly. Also, russain/ukranian games have something great about them. They're usually unoptimized, low-budget games, but at least they're original IP's most of the time.

I prefer this form of graphics opposed to the ulta-glossy look of some games where nothing seems to blend in with one another. I like my world to feel consistent, like in Half-Life 2. Everything looked like it belonged there, nothing stood out. That's how games should look, natural.

Of course, if you have not lived in the former Soviet Union, some of the feel of the game, you do not poluchitie because machinery, buildings, objects common in these countries, not America, Europe and England. But the game still draws, one has only to start and you will not notice how time flies! ;-))
Still hate this game, mods and everything couldnt do it for me. The game felt sluggish and looked pretty dated even with mods (to me). Also that HUD, jesus christ.
@0987gggg actually there's a good reason stalker reminds you of metro. They have many of the same people on the development teams. However there's definitely some big differences too. But I love them both.

I've been enjoying this game and the Emissions are really fun as well.
The only problem I have is when a bunch of stooges won't go to find cover so I end up finding a stack of 7 dead stalkers.

Also i hope they use better sound, bigger more open world.
Thats all, stalker was a nice game (SoC) but i hate that the most buildings was closed or you was blocked by a tiny fence...

like the weapons, you can't deny that the textures of the weapons in the stalker series are really good and the animations are horrible. But the gameplay is what makes it so good
It's one of the hardest game i've ever played tho

stalker are in everything the most realistic shooters you'll find.(except of the postapocalyptia of course)
bullets fall and drift realistically,you must take cover all the time this is not call of duty crap this is real fps

The best 2-weapon combo for Zaton, at least in my experience, is the AKS-74 and the Chaser. Best armor for all-around use is the Berill 5M (once you can afford it). Once you no longer have to worry about money, the AN-94 becomes a good standard-issue rifle. Combine with the Chaser, Eliminator, or Frasier, and you have a versatile and economical combo.

I recommend ordering the "Frasier" MP5 (aka "Cutter"), a .45 caliber SMG, from Nimble. Not as economical as the Chaser since it costs more to fix, but the ammo's lighter so you can carry more. It's about as good as a shotgun against bloodsuckers. A shotgun will get the job done faster at toe-to-toe range but the Frasier will spare you from having to get that close while still hitting the target reasonably hard per shot.

Check out stalker complete mod for the first 2 stalkers. It is AMAZING! Basicly a bug fixer and graphics improvement

@fire44it Complete-mods are quite overrated IMO. They also make the games EASIER than vanilla:
they increase weight limit of inventory, add automatic healing feature (auto-bandage), automatic anti-rad system with certain suits, increases accuracy of all guns, reduces all damage, adds teleportation-cheat ...
If you want a REAL bug-fixer mod, check Zone Reclamation Project 1.7. If you want nice visuals without big FPS hit, get Absolute Nature, Stalker Weather Overhaul and Shaders MAX -mods.

It's the original russian version which i got from a friend. It was a review copy back in the day. I'm an extreme post-apocaliptic/sci-fi game fan, and i'd do almost anything to get my hands on these games. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was/is an old favorite of mine, because it blended sci-fi and hopelesness perfectly. Also, russain/ukranian games have something great about them. They're usually unoptimized, low-budget games, but at least they're original IP's most of the time.

I prefer this form of graphics opposed to the ulta-glossy look of some games where nothing seems to blend in with one another. I like my world to feel consistent, like in Half-Life 2. Everything looked like it belonged there, nothing stood out. That's how games should look, natural.

@Yorsefener Russian and Ukrainian are somewhat similar, kinda like Spanish and Portuguese, not to mention that Ukraine used to be a Soviet republic where Russian was one of the official languages. Russian is still widely spoken in the post soviet world.

Of course, if you have not lived in the former Soviet Union, some of the feel of the game, you do not poluchitie because machinery, buildings, objects common in these countries, not America, Europe and England. But the game still draws, one has only to start and you will not notice how time flies! ;-))
