Sarah you were the best. I saw you and heard you sing at Bird Land back in 1954 I think it was, and all the guys couldn't help falling in love with you.
I'm 78 years old and I still remember. Where ever you are, many thanks for the memory.
Sarah Vaughan...perfection. Such a shame, the music - the REAL music - that has been lost amidst the computers and machines that make "music" what it is today. Jazz...a lost art. Thanks for sharing.
I love Sarah Vaughan but Billie Holiday's version touches something inside me tht Sarah's lacks but both are amazing.Y isnt there music like this anymore :(
direfranchement ,you are truely great collecter of sarah's numbers ! due to your good works,we can listen sarah's younger voice.thank you for your uploading.
Sarah had the best female voice of the 20the Century! I've been loving her sassy flare...perfect pitch...and velvety voice since I was 14 (I'm now 44). Billie, Dinah, Lena, etc. were great, but Sarah was the most unique!! Thx for this post!
@bjlayla One can only be unique, not most unique. "Unique" cannot, grammatically, be qualified by an adverb. Otherwise, I agree with you. She was unique!
@dencub While I've always loved Sarah since I first heard her, and as much as I love this version, I have to respectfully disagree. And of all the people to compare her to, I'd have to say Merle Haggard smoothness cannot be matched.
amazing ...turning the phrase "and when your fortune's falling"into an ascending glide "G.Giddins

@aarrow1897 Do you remember the MC that Birdland had? He was a midget named Pee Wee Marquette.

@SatchmoSings I was there then. One drink and nurse it at the bar until 4.

This is a beautiful rendition by Sarah Vaughn, though, personally, I like Billie Holiday's better.
