he was never a member but he did fill in for the band members when they refused to play on the winter tour. Buddy asked him to learn to play bass and gave him a few days to learn before going on tour.. that is why he was there to give the seat to the big bopper! There are even pictures.
@MEYERKELLY he was a huge part of d "Highwaymen" we lost another legend. he went thru his own heart breaks & demons, as we all do at times "speaking 4 myself"
This was a good friend of Buddy Holly and he did play bass for a short while with Holly and gave up a seat of the plane that crashed and killed the Big Bopper ,Holly and Ritchie Valens ,,==Let me know the name of the person that was killed in the crash when it comes ta ya,Patsy Kline was killed in one also
Waylon was never a Cricket. He was a DJ at a radio station in Lubbock, TX. I believe it was KDAV. I am from Lubbock and my aunt lived next door to Buddy Holly. Waylon was friends with Buddy and they hung out alot and Waylon did in fact give up his seat to Richie Valens on the airplane but he was NEVER a member of the Buddy Holly and the Crickets.
there are a lot of good country singers Waylon is definately on the better half of that list, Not bad for a guy coming from Rock N Roll roots. i think everyone forgets he was a Cricket- Buddy Holly's band-
Waylon long the king of Country Music

Why isn't there Country Music as good as this anymore? rascal flats are a long way from real classic country
Dalcwby1 2 months ago 2
@Dalcwby1 ,because the corporate owned record companies and radio stations only play dumbed down music made by pretty people. They like clichés.

One of the best songs Waylon wrote and sang. I miss these singers who were just regular, down-to-earth country people.

"This Time" happens to be one of my favorite songs by Waylon, and this song was Waylon's first #1 hit in 1974.
Great video! Thanks for uploading this!
