Hi, and thanks for viewing. This is the speed it has always been. I don't play it often, so that might be a reason why it is so fast. Also this is the older, original music box of the monkey. It came out years before the bigger replica came out. And one monkey is enough for me, LOL!

That's not the replica. I bought the replica. It came in today. It's larger and the music plays at a better tempo.

Can someone tell me how big it is? The website says 10cm W x 10cm L x 17cm H

but that means the box would be a square, and I'm quite sure it's a rectangle... do they also sell it at the theatre itself?

Hi! Wow, mine is on the small side. Much smaller than the prop in the show. There is however, a more expensive version that is bigger. I don't think the shows sell these, but you can also check any Broadway themed gift sites. Best of luck!

@DreamxWish they sell one at the Hobby Center in Houston that's the size of the show prop... i remember because my cousin wanted to buy it as we were leaving the theatre after seeing phantom. i believe the stores carry phantom items all year round because they're so popular. I have a cute one that plays 'music of the night' and it's beautiful... good luck finding it!

ok you take off the bottom, then you bend the pins just SLIGHTLY, or else itll change the pitch. Then just retape the bottom with black tape, then it should be set. Hope it helps!

The movie overall was disappointing, nowhere near as epic as the stage production...much of the music, costumes, effects and story line were changed (for the worse). Many people judge the show based on the movie, but have never actually seen the musical. My suggestion is, if you truely want to experience the magic of Phantom, go see the stage show, NOT the movie.

You're right. You're never going to get the thrill that you get when u watch the live show. But this without a doubt was a bitch to direct as a motion picture, and you have to give the company props for their attempt, because they pulled it off as best as they could. Still, nowhere near the musical on stage

I have been trying to shop around for a music box movement of "Masquerade" but they are all really fast like this one. I found one that can be adjusted and goes slow, but it was about $80!! I don't understand why they don't sell one just like the one we hear in the play or the movie.

(That's what I was told when I e-mailed some other company about trying to find this tune in a slower version. It is expensive though, and that Tony guy isn't exactly a nice person, just letting y'all know. But if you're serious about buying it, he's the man to talk to)
