the universe around you and even the world we live in seeing things destroyed should be evidence enough how our basic nature to be selfish and kill to benefit ourselves is as basic as gravity
the notion of creation and love is something very profound and unique in this universe
and through true intelligence not only comes seeing how our brash nature is far from needed but also how simulation that we can create does us all so much more justice and avoids all the turmoil
it's a redundant lesson we learn through our violence after we have gone so far with it
there is still so much more behind all of this we tend to never realize or even consider accepting as truth
THIS VID HAS LESS THAN 10K VIEWS! WTF?!?! EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS VID. TOP 5 BEST TOOL SONG EVER COMBINED WITH AN AMAZING STANLY KUBRICK MOVIE SEQUENCE.
Combining the music from Tool and the images of "2001" creates something totally independant of the two. You don't have to compare it to anything since it stands on its own. Just enjoy the vid for what it is.
it doesnt matter how you edit it, the poitn both artists(maynerd and kubrick)were trying to get across was that as a species we have to destroy everything and everyone around us because we can never share or help each other out
I just saw 2001: A Space Odyssey, for the first time yesterday! The first thought that hit me was that this scene was Maynard's inspiration for "Right In Two". It fits perfectly! As soon as the monkeys realize they can use their hands/clubs to beat up things/individuals, they start to fight "over pieces of the ground". Pieces of the ground being the little pond in Space Odyssey! Dividing it all Right In Two!
I said this scene, not the movie...If you watch the scene it fits with the lyrics to "Right In Two", edited or not...I was just pointing out, that when I saw the scene, I automatically thought about "Right In Two"...Maybe this wasn't his inspiration, but what makes you so sure?
I see what your grabbing at with only using the monkeys. The video is about the struggle between ourselves. Not between our tools or our fear of death, which is what the future concentrates on. Its a good video, It would be great to see a tool video do the whole movie past and future, it can't be this song though.
Maybe Pushit, Lateralus (separate the body from the mind. Can be said for our need to leave our tools behind to Evolve to the star child). Any thoughts?
This is pointless... Where is scene from "future" showing what happens when it comes to understandig something bigger (touching monolith), and people reacts like monkeys milion years ago ergo nothing has change since? Because that is the meaning of this song. Altouh love Tool, and thx for supporting them:)
At the beguining, my goal was to make it this way... But it turn differently when I made the montage, so I choose to use only the monkeys part. But, of course, if I redo it sometime it'll be different for sure, I'll not make the same mistake.
Thank for the comments, you and all of the above, and Tool fucking rock!
this is about the final days when the angels ask GOD of the one thing that he gave to all creation is called C~HOICE - Eden * TOOL has only been that to many realize the 2 different parts to this world :) best bet
"This is pointless... Where is scene from "future" showing what happens when it comes to understandig something bigger (touching monolith), and people reacts like monkeys milion years ago ergo nothing has change since? "
Actually it worked out perfect because it shows the fact and not the fiction. The fact is that there is no "understandig something bigger (touching monolith)"
People are still monkeys clubbing each other to death by the hundreds of thousands every year.
By far the most intellectual and elaborate collaboration yet. I don't know what the real video entails but this is exactly what i pictured in my head. u know about darkside and wizard of oz im sure. should try echoes and last chapter of space oddysey it's actually intentional. The floyd spoke with kubrick about it! NE way pure genius bro. perfect. I'm gonna have to put this on my myspace.
I always loved how they opened this movie. It really made me think about man's origins and I just love the location they place this in. The music made me love it even more, thank you so much for posting this.
Thats exactly how it happened! People invented religions to make us forget where we come from and if you educate yourself about evolution and make some expierences in your life [sex, exploring your conciusness], then it makes sense at some point about the evoultion from ape--->human
Try starting Intension at the beginning of the Dawn of Man chapter on the Space Odyssey DVD and play straight through until the end of Viginti Tres. It works quite well without any editing.
Great video, it goes very well with that song. 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the most significant to be produced. You would think we would have learned long ago, but here we go again...

we were even given a chance simply for this notion called love
but there is so much more meaning behind the word love lol it's not all about
what our general idea of love means....love is so deep it has existed and traveled
through time long before this universe was created

tacityrn 9 months ago
the fact we even have the notion of love in us that exists in us that detests all hazards
and often has us helping out those around us and calling them family
realize we are all family and we are all in this together
the fact that you can create, simply the fact you can create rather than destroy....
we all trust in nature
so trust in the nature that exists in us that the universe created for a higher purpose
our basic destruction and violence leads us nowhere BUT TOTAL ANNIHILATION
tacityrn 9 months ago
and before you think i'm just some random hippy
i have taken a look enough to see that we are beyond this
we tend to not comform to what we can actually be better at
because we fear it
we conform to the gravity that holds us here
but can you not see that our very lives
our very minds and eyes..to be able to even look up from the ground
is a direct backlash at this universe
though nature created us to be what we are
can we not see that we fall into gravitational patterns?

if monkeys could open their minds enough from the beginning and inherit wisdom that allowed them to easily grasp and inherit archaic knowledge
they would not be squandering their ability to lift their eye and wonder about what really is out there
it's the same as how the monkeys simply found the monolith and looked up to something greater and it taught them advancement
but don't blame the monkeys
blame us because we have the ability to think so much further.
tacityrn 9 months ago
this achieves only strengthening ourselves in short terms
when there is enough to go around
you watch in this video how one tribe of monkeys evolves over the other because
they discovered how to use a tool, helped them quicker kill their prey to evolve them
even more
but this goes back to when i said how war advances us, but not in the ways neccessary
if we take things slow and do things right
there is enough to go around and no one has to go hungry and no one has to die
from war
tacityrn 9 months ago
I enjoy it completely.
The way it is re-ordered it is like
the monkeys figured it out for themselves,
and only THEN did the Monolith choose them.
Violence is just a natural part of the animal kingdom.
Carnivores are quick thinkers.
Is that a good thing?
So many people try to disconnect from it.
How about just doing it right?
TheMetahedron 10 months ago
@TheMetahedron he is absolutely right
everything......all the essence of what our minds can collect
has already existed
don't you know that music has existed before in other worlds?
don't you know how powerful sound is even.
what he means about doing it right, what's wrong about carnivores being quick thinkers
there is your answer.......... and have we not proven our haste in thinking...quick to judge
quick to kill all for what we think we need? but look at the violence.
universally

@tacityrn The Monolith is Too Ridiculously Violent in all of this.
Can we put a black bar over it, or something?
Kids might watch this...
