Yes Schremp has amazing skill and the potential to be a difference maker in the NHL, he doesnt have the work ethic the oilers want from him, and he doesnt do well on the defensive end this is a large reason the oilers havent made a spot for him on there roster. It has nothing to do with his country of origin. Well, for what it is worth from an Aussie (who in no way can skate) I'm impressed. The object of the game is to score goals and given the small amount of space that remains between the "fatkid" and the goals his ability to put them in the back of the net (which most of you guys can't)is what it is all about. His record in lower grades is still good. Given that he gets to, or now is in the NHL I'm sure he'll be one to watch. Good luck Mr. Rob Schremp.
Either way, he can't pull off his moves in a real game - there's not enough time and space, so he'd be the kind of player that gets 15-25 goals a season, mostly on the PP, and a guaranteed shootout spot in the NHL.

If it wasnt for the fact that he's an American his play in the NHL would be a done deal. This type of discrimination has been going on for too long. If it wasnt for a discrimination law in the US, American players would never have had a chance. This is Canada's game and they control it still, keeping average Canadian guys in line-ups they dont deserve to be in. This guy has way more skill than his former linemates Perry and Kostitsyn, all who play in the NHL.

I would say It's almost to late in the season to expect him to make any kind of impact this year. But next season they either have to play him or trade him. He deserves a real chance to preform, not just 5 mins a night, but top 2 line and power play time. The Oil have allot of fat to trim, and they need to start developing some of their young talent. Yes I would say MacT has over stayed his welcome.

I totally agree he neeeds more time, since he's apparently such a master of the shootout, it makes sense he should've been on the team this year for just that purpose :P

Not that it's not nice that he's playing well in the AHL. I will be convince of what he can do when I see it in the bigs. He's got talent no questioning that. I hope he gets a real chance next season, so we can see what we have in Schremp.
Next season if he starts in the minors, forget it. Most star players come straight out of Junior and play in the NHL right away. I say Play him or trade him. I would rather we played him over half the guys we have.

Hockey lives worldwide. And they say Americans are arrogant! If it wasnt for the numbers of players in Canada the stats would be different. Far fewer people are interested in hockey in the U.S. or we would give you a good running for your money. Americans are more interested in Football, Basketball, and Baseball (shit I think Soccer is more popular) than hockey here. Per capita the Europeans own you guys, in skill too. Who is talking about being a proud american or a canadian patriot? There are a lot of great players in the NHL that are born in United States (Parise, Modano, Kane, Drury, etc..) BUT, Hockey IS canadian that's all. FACT : Montreal Canadiens : 24 stanley cups, Toronto Maple Leafs : 13 stanley cups, Edmonton Oilers : 6 stanley cups, Calgary Flames : 1 stanley cup. For a total : 44 stanley cups in 91 years of NHL history. Not bad for a total of only 6 canadian team in the NHL right now.

Well, for what it is worth from an Aussie (who in no way can skate) I'm impressed. The object of the game is to score goals and given the small amount of space that remains between the "fatkid" and the goals his ability to put them in the back of the net (which most of you guys can't)is what it is all about. His record in lower grades is still good. Given that he gets to, or now is in the NHL I'm sure he'll be one to watch. Good luck Mr. Rob Schremp.

Either way, he can't pull off his moves in a real game - there's not enough time and space, so he'd be the kind of player that gets 15-25 goals a season, mostly on the PP, and a guaranteed shootout spot in the NHL.

This guy's got skill no doubt, but it's not of the NHL level yet. You can see that his wristshot and slapshot have great speed and accuracy, but with like 30 of his 57 goals being on the powerplay, that doesn't say much. Also, his shootout dekes in other vids are sweet but high-sticking bs, so he's a showboating overrated player. Betcha he'd get 20 goals tops in his first year of the NHL.

He scored 57 that year. It helped that he was on probly the best junior hockey team of all time.. they literally didn't lose a game until 8 players went away for the world juniors in DECEMBER!! Still... dude is rediculously skilled.
As for not scoring even strength... that team drew more penalties than any other team in the history of the OHL, many of them due to Schremp's skill, so there! :D
