@NinjaCow385 it doesnt matter when you put the less dence ball in the water it will always float regaurdless of weather its placed in the water first or second.
This only works if the ball weighs less than 12 pounds. A 12 lb ball has about the same density as water, thus will hover. A ball heavier than 12 pounds will sink, as its density is greater than that of water.
@Pegasusthebeyblade It gunna take me about a couple of months to get your reqeust because others have requested scie files ahead of you. Like someone asked about awhile back about electromagnets which Im going to get to most likely not this friday but next friday Im just waiting for Amazon to send me my package so I can film that sci file request. But theres a bunch of others that I still have to get to but hang in there i will get to your request.
@liquidrock2u Depends on many things, you can have a cork bowling ball that wont sink and you can have a cork bowling ball that does sink. It just depends on what material the ball is made of and depends on what materials they place inside the ball to make it heavier.
Its amazing how displacement works. I actually wasn't even thinking about displacement before you presented the experiment. I was actually thinking you were going to add salt to the water to make the ball more buoyant. I wonder if you do add enough salt to the water, will it make the 4.5 kg. ball float?
@alewisgb 4kg (8lbs) and below will float / 4.5kg(10lbs) & above will sink. How-ever its not so much about the bowling balls weight as it is much more about how much space it takes up in the water compared to weight volume of the water displaced.
a heavy bowling ball should be the same size although there is like a 0-0.5 inch difference in the sizes to be allowed on a bowling alley, or they wont come back in the machine
@alewisgb I think you misunderstood what I said. "How much space it takes up compared to its weight volume" that means the weight of the volume of water takes up space when displaced by an object. Simply put, if the space the water takes up is more then the space the object takes up the object sinks.
You also forgot to reaserch your equipment. Besides a pankake weightblock what else makes up the bowling ball. Multi coloured ball is newer and has a newer polymer surrounding the core underneath the cover. The Black ball is old and still uses CORK inside to fill between core and cover. And we all know how WELL cork floats. If cork was in both balls then you might have a real scientific expirement here, not just goofing around.
All bowling balls reguardless of how they are made or when they are made including modern bowling balls, WILL float if they take up more space then then the amount of water they displace. This works for everything that floats. If an object takes up more space then the water it displaces reguardless what it is, the object will float. The black ball was not made of cork. I love when people come to my channel and tell me Im wrong so that I can inform them with the correct information. Thank you!
Thats the only thing about this expirement, you do have to have a bowling ball or rent one in order to do this. I was allowed to barrow both bowling balls because of this show. I got to go bowling for free too. =^D Well one game anyway. I had to pay for the others.
So THAT'S why my English teacher marked me down for saying "The boat floated across the lake, exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn't." I should have stated the weight of said bowling ball.
ur better then bill nye the science guy xD

would the less dense bowling ball still float if it was placed in the water first?? or would it go up after the heavier one was placed in there?

and also 12 is the maxinum nuber for the bowling ball to float
Pegasusthebeyblade 8 months ago
@Pegasusthebeyblade it all depends on what the materials are used to make the bowling ball heavey. I would say anything between 4.5-4.9kgs.
