  • you know, i only clicked on this for the song at first. But this is a very well put together video showcasing one of the most talented actors to ever grace the stage. Thank you for making this

  • What an amazing career he had.

  • Didnt know he sang!

  • HE REALLY HAD A GOOD VOICE@@ THANKS FOR POSTING THIS I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG

  • I MISS JERRY!

  • All I know was Law & Order, and I'm a 61 year old from accross the river from Manhattan ... I should have known ...... RIP Jerry

  • Thanks for all the pictures and memories of a great actor.

  • A beautiful song from Kid Sally Palumbo! Thanks for posting!

  • I musta got somting in my eye......Wonderful.

  • He just seems like he was the nicest man in the WORLD!!!

  • @SueBeaWho Maybe because I am not a Law and Order fan-actually I disdain the series and its bastard progeny-never cared for his character--but he was a great Broadway actor and entertainer and reminds me of other young aspiring actors I say on my frequent visits to Greenwich Village in 1960's.

    Very touching song.

  • @RPenta I very much yearn to go back to those days in the early 60s in GV and all over NYC.

  • WE LOVE YA JERRY!

  • Beautiful song from a Handsome man.R.I.P.

  • My Grandfather told me it was Jerry Orbach, and he instantly became one of my favourite actors of all time. I saw him as Billy Flynn in the Original Broadway version of Chicago that year as well. What a treat.

  • I met Jerry Orbach when I was a teenager in 1975. I was living with my Grandfather on Staten Island and I went into the city (NYC) often. There was a protest of the Broadway Musicians Dispute/Strike in Shubert Alley and a nice man took the time to explain it to me while a TV camera was filming the protest. When I got home that night I was watching TV with my Grandfather and the clip came on during the news. My Grandfather saw me and Mr. Orbach talking and he asked me if I knew who that was. Nope

  • @RancherUSAFLA LOLOLOL and HOW cool is THAT??? Wow lucky duck! Yeah, Jerry seems like he was genuinely a nice person!

  • Jerry You are the Greatest..........

  • This was in Chrono Trigger? ouch, sweet.

  • I didn't think he was ugly in his later years by any means, but he was REALLY attractive as a young man...

  • @shmuli9 I don't know how old your are, but that tends to happen. Look at you and your friends today....and then 30 years from now, they won't be so handsome or beautiful. It'll happen to you and everyone else your age. Look at some pix of your grandparents and I'll bet they were beautiful/handsome at a young age like you probably are.

  • @tlibber Well, of course! (The alternative to "getting old" is kind of chilling.) Unfortunately, your premise is kind of wrong (some people were NEVER attractive, at least "in a universal way"). My parents certainly were attractive...

  • @shmuli9 I'm sorry. Didn't mean to jump to conclusions. I run into a lot of young folks who say, "Oh he's/she's so UGLY now." When he/she were, in fact, quite handsome/beautiful when they were young. But yes, there's some of us, as you say, who were NEVER attractive. I hear what you're saying. Anyway, Jerry O was a handsome guy in his youth. Cheers!

  • From what I know of Mr. Orbach's last days of shooting Law & Order and he knew he was terminal, he kept it very private, and died the way he lived, with dignity...R.I.P.

  • Thank you for featuring photographs of Jerry through out his career. I never saw him perform in his youth.

  • What a beautiful person he was. Lovely voice too.

  • Hmm...was this really used in Chrono Trigger?

  • WOW!! Didn't realize he was also a beautiful singer!!! Loved him also in L&O, God Bless you Jerry!!!!

  • thank you

  • There's something I always liked about this guy on Law and Order. Nice presence. I didn't know he had such a distinguished career.

  • Great voice, I saw the movie The Fantasticks with Joel Grey and liked the song at the end.

  • A true treasure

    Beautiful tribute

  • Just an amazing man-well loved, and so talented. I miss him so much, as do we all.

  • What a voice; loved him as Lenny Briscoe, too. He had such a world weary character in that role, and a sense of grim humor. Loved the wisecracks. I had never seen him in anything else, but it seems he was very versatile. God Bless you Mr. Orbach. "Law and Order" just wasn't the same without you.

  • RIP Jerry

  • Will always love him in Dirty Dancing!

  • He's good! But no Robert Goullet

  • One of the great songs of the musical theater--and a beautiful rendition. VADE, Jerry Orbach.

  • He sounds remarkably like Ed Ames. And Chris Noth, Ben Bratt and Jesse Martin have to realize that in his younger days, Jerry was just as much of a hunk as they were!

  • JERRY ORBACH IS A LEGEND AND MY HERO 4 EVER!

  • I never knew about his whole wonderful life outside tv. I just loved him as Lenny Brisco- but I found out a lot about his life and his stage life. He was a lovable man, totally amazing-I miss him, a whole lot. Bless him.

  • Jerry Orbach and Lee Grant were in a TV special of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite in 1982. I think it was on HBO.

  • Thank you.

Someone had suggest that it might be Anne Bancroft, but I was sure it wasn't her. As soon as I read the name Lee Grant, I remembered her, but I never would have come up with the name on my own.

  • Age helped him...a lot. I remember him from an episode of Murder She Wrote when I was a kid, explaining to Jesse about how some woman wanted "a couple more rounds of Bedsheet Bingo".

They shoulda ended Law and Order when he died.

  • Thank you for this posting by my favorite actor, Jerry Orbach. there will never be another like him!

  • nice collage to one of the greatest actors Broadway has known

  • i love that song by jerry orbach

  • Jerry Orbach - The Law and Order guy and the father in Dirty Dancing. I don't have to "Try To Remember" Jerry. He is such a respected actor (and great singer), he is missed but his memory will live on !

  • @twinkie57401

I just watched an older '90s movie "Toy Soldiers" with Sean Astin, Wil Wheaton...he played the father of Wheaton's character. Kind of small role but memorable...he was so memorable in anything he did. That voice and those eyes that could look so sinister and/or kind and sympathetic (almost world-weary) depending on the role.

  • jerry this boston boy misses you alot.

  • Sure brought a tear to my eye. Wow.

  • Love his version of this classic song. Thanks for posting.

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the actress at 1:03 who sitting on the bed with Jerry Orbach?

  • @mississippibluffs Could that have been Ann Bancroft?

  • Comment removed

  • @mississippibluffs - That's Lee Grant. I'm not sure what show it's from.

  • The original! Also I love the cover version by The Brothers Four.

  • Good God...what a voice! Who could anything more!

  • I am glad this great American talent could make tons of money on television. I was born too late to see his mastery on Broadway. I guess I will have to imagine his great performances on Broadway and enjoy YouTube for this artistic enrichment. Thank you.

  • This makes me sad. It reminds me of how great the American Musical Theatre can be at its best.

When this musical was first produced, I am sure that everyone knew it was great. But, did anyone ever think that we would not see this simple magic again?

  • thank you

  • Just think what a wonderful duet Jerry and Jesse L. Martin could have sung!

  • God! I miss Jerry Orbach terribly! He was such a great actor and singer. HE'S MY HERO 4 EVER! Tomorrow is the 5th anniversary of his death. R.I.P. JERRY ORBACH 1935-2004!

  • Thank you!!! Merry Christmas!

  • I didn't know he sang as well. Great voice! Handsome looking guy.

  • Thank you for posting this. God what a voice that man had.

  • Thanks, what a touching tribute. 50 years later its still great. thanks Jerry

  • What a wonderful tribute to a real American Treasure. One of the great things about the advent of cinema & TV is that we now have a permanent collective memory of such actors that audiences long after the a star's death can still enjoy their great talent.

  • JERRY
