  • Sony Alpha 55 > EOS 600D

  • ..for something like this I would have used the GoPro HD cam. then you dont have to hand hold your camera, you can just turn your head to whatever scene you want to capture..

  • This maybe the greatest sample ever, using a DSLR + AF Zeiss 24 for shooting movie, but its on the roller coaster!

I'm the a33 owner, really really awesome camera! But something same as this sample is:

    - movie AF really really incredible!

    - very low noise (or no noise :) ) when in dark area

    - sound quality not well using internal mic

  • What lens did you use?? Was it with the standard lens??

  • @ktayor1 Carl Zeiss 24mm f/2 - not the standard lens.

  • @JulianH1985 Thanks dude!

  • the AF iis impressive

  • One word. Brave. Taking my new DSLR to a rollercoaster ride is pretty brave.

  • @8oogers This camera was on loan from Sony ;-) I'd still do it if it were mine though, it's fun!

  • хороший автофокус

  • WITH NO CONTROL OVER SHUTTER ANGLE IT MAKES IT LOOK CHOPPY..

  • jelly effect...

  • guys is alpha 55 and alpha 33 is already on shops there ??!!! and if yes for how much ??? ? plz i need to know

and yes the quality is not that good but the AF is incredibly fast...

  • @hamadaxp2 The quality on youtube is pretty poor, I suspect the fast movement, check my other A55 video, it looks better. This one also looks a lot better when I play the original file on my HDTV.

  • Looks like the quality from a basic camcorder.

  • @mYOzZyKaT 1920 x 1080 is not a basic function, that is HD. Its probably because you have to compress the quality to fit on youtube.

  • @ktayor1 First of all HD is more or less a basic function for any camcorder or camera launched today. Even a minute point and shoot camera such as the Canon Ixus range has HD movie mode.

And after getting the a55 my self im really not that impressed by the video quality at all. Even with a 30mm f/1.4 lens it sort of fails. The a55 really needs a hell of a lot of light on a sunny summers day to really shine and make the phase detection auto work.

  • @mYOzZyKaT Yes but if you looking for great video quality then you have to spend quality Money. The a55 is just fine, and to be honest with ya, I wouldnt be moaning If I had one!

  • @ktayor1 The Sony a55 has great video quality if you spend some money on a good lens or two. Its by far the best and fastest auto focus in video mode of the DSLRs out there by a mile. In fact it up there by any category. And you really do not have to spend quality money to get quality video.

And since I have an a55 I actually can moan about it. Because its far from perfect. But its new technology and from Japan so things are a bit weird with it.

But its still the best video auto focus DSLR.

  • @mYOzZyKaT Hey I just got one today haha so now I can start moaning about it like you now lol. Nah I know its just a starter camera, but It will def do me for now. Using it for video, and a quality of story is by far more important than gear. So for now it will do just fine. Yay! Will upgrade the lenses later on when I get more Money.

Cheers dude, Let me know how it all goes with you later on, if you carry on filming stuff!

  • @ktayor1 well good for you...hope it works out for you.

I have just sunk a lot of money into a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 HSM lens.

Sony makes some reasonable priced prime lenses like the 50mm f/1.8 SAM. Its quite good for the money and the SAM autofocus motor, yet is it not as fast nor as silent as Sigmas HSM autofocus motor or Sonys own SSM, its fairly silent and fast. For portrait work its exelent. The 30mm 1,8 is also good.

  • @mYOzZyKaT Yeah Looking at the ssm range, but that will be for later, they seem so cool.

Just been out filming some scenes and really stoked with how its all coming out!

  • The AF is so quick!

  • the auto focus was simply incredible but i must say the low light was much worse than i expected. It seemed as grainy as my hdr-sr11 which is now 3 years old. Hopefully there are some settings that can be adjusted.

  • @r1dePrkCty no matter how good the video on dslr is, without a constant source of light while videoing is just as bad as an expensive huge videocam. if you notice professionals had lamps attached while filming in dark caves. unless using f1.8 and below, it's not gonna help. which i assume he/she is using 18-55 standard in this one.

  • @dtdw1988 yeah ill take your word for it. Im new to the whole photo/video combo thing so i guess i just didnt know what to expect from an SLR. Either way, this will be my next purchase unless nikon or cannon can up with competitor that has an articulating screen and same features as far as video goes.
