What was his answer was to the 82 yr. old woman's question ( the one he jokingly asked her to be his running mate ) regarding what he would do with the issue of water and air and everyone having a fair drink?
He is absolutely spot on. Prices are high because there is too much demand and not enough supply. Alternative fuel sources is the only true long-term solution to decreasing gasoline prices due to increased competition and less demand. It also has the added bonus that it will take the oil equation out of middle east politics.
ME FOR obama! I heard that he appeared on a millionaire&celebrity (celebs) dating club millionarechats.c o m with a personal account there. Is it real or just a rumor on internet?
cars are just a scapegoat...there all MUCH more things which are petroleum based, like plastics and clothes (polyester, etc.). Cars itself is not going to stop this dependancy.
This is something that everyone needs to see! If nothing else it shows that he does care, and not just throwing things at the public so he looks good at the polls.
Have any of the candidates talked about the palestinian issue at all? Israel's overtaking of Gaza and killing innocent people. Iraq? Free Trade? I'm not American, I"m Canadian, but as u know whoever holds the power in good ole' US of A is a major issue for all countries. Ok so,will Obama get in,as racism is alive and well in USA, and if Clinton does, will she lose to another Warmongrel, McCain...scarey stuff!!!!
i like hearing the truth, but "what [I] need to hear" (quoting Obama) is how does he plan on lowering gas prices and all these ideas he has? in depth what are his plans? i know fuel effeciency and alternative energy sounds great dont get me wrong but how does he plan on doing those things specifically?
The proposed plan basically states that oil companies will be forced to cover the tax while it is on holiday. Oil companies will just raise the price of gas so that they are still making the same percentage of profit.
If he can carry his ideas and implement them in Washington then he is making incredible ground. It could end up that we end up with the opposite party in congress and senate than what we have in the white house. Usually that is what happens and we watch the fighting and gridlock and nothing happens to bring us forward.
"If pro is the opposite of con, then congress is the opposite of progress."
Obama is right. More fluel efficient cars, and alternative engergy is the ONLY long term solution. A federal tax holiday on gas prices sounds ridiculous. It doesn't single out the low income families at the gaspump, and it's a short term solution. In comparison with Norway, where I live, your oil prices are very low, as we pay approx. $8.50 a gallon. However our cars are far more fluel efficient than yours. USA remember this: A small car can bring you from A to B too.
Instead of a gas tax holiday, more interstates should charge tolls. Since our tax dollars are all going to Iraq and our highways are deteriorating, we need to make some sacrifices here at home and actually pay for the services that we use -- including roads. (That is a conservative idea, by the way.)
America, please please please do us all a favour and put this man in office. I only wish I was American too so I could vote for this good, intelligent straight talking man.
Senator Obama, you need to mention that the US dollar is sinking, hence the oil price going up. And why is the US dollar sinking? Deficits. Why the deficits? Iraq War. Trade imbalance.
You can make them into one narrative. A continuation of Iraq War means more deficit, and more deficit means weaker dollar, and weaker dollar means Oil prices going up and uncontrolled inflation, which drives down the real income of the average American people.
OBAMA should also say to his crowd "LOOK, please do not believe what I say. They say they have 35yrs of experience. Please show me where US Citizens have benefited??? GAS UP CLOSE TO $4 ECONOMY SUCKS THE WORLD HATES US THE DOLLAR IS DOWN CRIME IS UP THANK YOU MR. BUSH We must talk to our enemies and ask them what's their BEEF??? We've done it the other way for decades. IT'S TIME FOR A NEW APPROACH OBAMA 2009
I haven't seen such a great, hard hitting dissection of McCain since Obama rebuked him about their Iraq strategies by reminding voters McCain required a small army of escorting troops and vehicles so he could have a photo-op in Baghdad and say "all is well".
Yes!!! Real truth, NOT pandering. Real answers that are not easy or quick solutions, but nonetheless are the actual solutions to the problems instead of just band-aids. Go Obama! Show 'em how it's supposed to be done!
Senator Obama, please dont give up. This is what the GOP want. They want to see you crumple and give up. Keep on showing them how tough you are. And I don't think Obama should have to make another speech about Wright. If some pple didn't get the speech then they will never get the speech, and that's not Obama's fault. Goodness is tough! Fighting and mudslinging is not tough. The media always makes a hysteria about everything. But not hysteria is a real hysteria.
I think it'd be great to have a president who is actually FOR government transparency, a president who has actually introduced bills that promote government transparency and straight talk in an era where we never get any anymore. Who am I talking about? This Illinois Senator, of course.
If obama can get more speeches out there like this one, hopefully it can help him get away with all the cheap distractions (rev. Wright coverage, Hillary's call for more debates--which is a typical loser maneuver in politics). Keep on addressing the people and the issues, "Barry." :o)
Leaps and "bounds" the best candidate. This is not a competition. It's just a very very slow race where only one of the candidates actually has wheels on their car (Barack). This is already over, we're just playing the waiting game.
I want change, I'm tired of the same old politics running washington. I'm tired of spending a zillion dollars on gas for my car. We need change, and Obama is the one to give to me!!!
I'm trying to figure out the thought process of all those people who keep saying that Barack never says anything of substance in his speeches. I keep hearing that he only speaks about HOPE and CHANGE, over and over again but never speaks in detail. Are these people incapable of comprehension? Are they living in a parallel universe or the twilight zone? Barack always speaks of substance about his plans for putting America back on track. Washington is terrified of this man. Change is coming!
Not being serious here really, but still kinda serious on the other hand.
I would like to see Obama as Prez with Ron Paul as Vice Prez. LOL! Would definately be an "honest" ticket, and McCain would shit a brick with a Republican on Obama's side, LOL!
Actually, i was thinking of the same ticket cuz i think they are the only two genuine candidates. However, their policies are too different for them to be a successful team.
"That's what you need from a president. Someone who's gonna tell you the truth..Who's gonna tell you not what you want to hear but what you NEED to hear."
If this man doesn't become president I'm fleeing the country = /
Good speech! Obama is finding the way to mix details with inspiration and he's getting there. Conviction makes effective.
Practice makes better.
I like the slogan too: "A president who's going to tell you the truth...who will tell you what you need to hear, [last part omitted on purpose]." It mirrors McCain's 2000 appeal and highlights his political transformation into a George W. Bush replica circa 20th century.
18.4 cents actually but he's right. Once the tax is off the top the companies will "charge what the market will bear." Unless you get a 100 gallon drum and fill it up in the first week, you won't see anything at the pump from this.
Exactly - thank you once again Sen. Obama for pointing to the truth in all this mess. You can go and fix these problems! But we have to vote for you first, hopefully. Time for a change.
great speach..

Obama is the winner.
It is out of the question that the winner in the elections in the primary should quit and the loser should stay.
Obama is winning by a margin of 158 & more than half million (611k plus including caucus estimates) popular votes & several more states than her.
What if Hillary was the one winning with a big lead & being told to quit?
