to the.. english: i thought id clear this up. In 2005, Australia provided in weakest, most out of form side ever for that Ashes loss. Yes, you did win congratulations... but it wasnt because you played amazing, its because Australia didnt have a side.
What a load. Eng outplayed Aus in 05 in all aspects of the game. At the end of the day, Aus batsmen can't play swing bowling, and Eng's attack was supreme. This was the "out-of-form" Aus team that finally overcame Ind just months earlier.
An example of a weak side was Engs 06/7 side minus Tres Vaughan & Jones & Fred 50% fit. & they were outplayed, but were more competitive than 5-0 suggests.
Aus werent out of form. they were beaten by a better side that they couldnt match it with in 05.

Who did Australia have missing or unfit in 2005, apart from McGrath - which was admittedly a big blow? From memory, apart from that, Australia were full strength and injury free.
The matches were decided on the park, and won by the better team. As Dean Jones correctly said, once, batsmen win you ODIs, bowlers win you test matches. England's bowlers were consistently better in 05. Australia's were consistently better in 06/07, and that's really the crux of both series.
