  • so real.....

  • look a real face!

  • Also, might I add, that your channel has been very helpful for pointing me in the right direction of techniques and supplies so thank you very much for that.

  • I plan to make a werewolf costume over the next few years (a rather ambitious project might I add), and hair punching is looking to be a very big part of it because of its realism.I plan to use both human and horse hair to get a more coarse and stiff texture, do you think this will work well?

How well does punched hair stay in the silicon and is there a good way to really anchor it in? Bearing in mind that I won't be able to access the backside of the silicone to anchor it in that way.

  • @manicbash Have not worked with horse hair. Punched hair stays in place remarkable well. I have heard of people punching hair with some adhesive (in this case silicone sealant) on the needle. That might get a good anchor to the hairs.

  • @brickintheyard Do you think it would work to brush the surface with a thin layer of sealant just before punching the hair? It would be quicker than dipping the needle every few hairs.

  • @manicbash Not sure. I haven't tried it either way. This is great turf for R & D!

  • Absolutely awesome silicon head... Can you point me in the right direction on how to produce a silicone prop like this?

  • @XxUSMCForceReconxX Check our webstore. We carry several DVDs + all the supplies you need.

  • I love doing art but Ill never be good at any thing I dont work but I would love to try this hope I can find this stuf in a hard were shop?

  • cudnt you use a wig for the hair?

  • Ignore my stupid comment earlier, not a mask XP

  • I was really hoping I could see how the finished product fits on an actor?

  • N thats one ugly ladie

    hahaha jk awesome video man

  • what kind of hair is that & where can I buy it? (idk if you said that, because my english isnt that good :( )

  • @OxBassCover1995 Check local beauty supply shops.

  • Very useful video, thanks! I'd like to try this out, but it's not easy to find loose hair, where do you recommend buying from? (I'm not picky about quality for my purposes, I assume real human hair would be way too expensive).

  • @Daggett1122 Try a beauty supply like Sally's. They have human hair and, depending on the length, is very affordable.

  • @brickintheyard Thanks for info. So I would actually want to buy hair extensions?

  • @Daggett1122 They have several hair products that would work.

  • 8:07... i felt like the eyes were gonna open at any moment... lol

  • What would you do if you are making something that the punched hair cant reach the backside of the silicone cause its thick. Since you you cant brush silicone on the back is there another method of keep the hair attached?

  • @bornimperfect Punched hair stays put pretty well by itself if it is punched in deep enough.

  • can u brush the hair of would it come out?

  • @ITSxBLEH It holds up to brushing ok.

  • it look like dead body

  • so can you peel the face off or is it stuck to the foam?

  • @Plibt8 It is stuck.

  • @brickintheyard would it be possible to peel the face out of the mold without putting in the foam and then work on it from there?

  • @Plibt8 Yes. It would make the hair punching step a bit more tedious but it could be done that way.

  • @brickintheyard excellent, thank you very much :]

  • Thank you for showing me how to make a hair puncher.

  • so creepy how real it looks lol

  • What about the back of the head?

  • @SuperAzproductions This is just a face.

  • lol...finaly effect is very real ;D

  • wtf

  • If youre punching hair on a mask, how do you make the hair stay in the mask without it pulling out?

  • @morbidduckie95 Turn it inside out and brush more silicone over the exposed hair.

  • @brickintheyard is grandeurfoul! I have a question, as is the mold for the mask? and what material you used to do it, where I can get? In what type of store?

  • @ackialbert Our webstore and retail store has everything you need. Go to our channel page for more info.

  • questions:

does new silicon glue to dryed silicon?

does the painting glue FOR GOOD at the silicon surface?

this polyfoam is as hard as those used inside walls for temperature isolation or is it as soft as those used in mattress?

  • @aceofspades02 Silicone bonding will be best when fresh silicone parts are used. For more infor on this our DVD is recomended: Fundamentals of Silicone Skins.

  • This head looks incredible!! Great work! When you work on it it becomes so uncanny, that you'd think you're watching a corpse....

Somehow that's a good thing... I'm not sure how though...

  • put the lotion in the basket.............

  • hi thanks for the video. i have a question, where can i find platsil gel-10.? or is there a silicone adhesive i can find at a hardware store that is similar to platsil?

  • @jamn805 Gel-10 is available on our webstore. Look on our channel page or at the end of the video for the link. Hardware store silicone is an air-dry material and is very different from Gel-10.

  • looks super scary..

  • @dehbiespeakin You don't know the half of it! That's my ex-wife!

  • @brickintheyard Omg thats IS scary XD

  • Berlusconi need this!

  • This doesn't necissarily pertain to this video but what is the best way to add or subtract to the silicone face. By add I mean what is the best material to use to make the silicone face look like it has boils or warts? By subtract I mean what is the best way to make the silicone face look like some one took a shot gun to it point blank?

  • Thickened Gel-10 (with TinThix) can be applied to add 3D effects or patch air bubbles.

  • made me cringe when you stuck that razor in her eye:)

  • would making a model like this work if i used brush on latex instead?

  • Not sure...

  • But, you know, if you want to put the mask on, how do you get the mouth and eyes to go with your own face?

  • This is not a mask.

  • can u buy silicon at the a craftstore

  • Yes! The craft store is called "BITY Mold Supply".

  • Why you dont make a mask of it????

  • really cool looks so real

  • dude your still cool

  • wow it look really real like as if someone chopped it head off love the mask

  • If you're (what did you say, punching hair?). If you do that, doesnt they come out easily?

  • im still a little confused on how the hair punching goes... can u like make a dyagram i don see how u do that

  • We cover the technique in greater detail in the DVD "Fundamentals of silicone skins".

  • oh whis is a dvd i didnt know that... i should get this

  • So, for the head hair, you lay down silicone sealant or adheasive. Put, punch individual hairs for like, mens upper lip and chin hair? Is that right?

  • Yes!

  • Alright.

  • where could i find and buy one of thesE?

  • Not sure what you mean. The supplies to make this are available on our webstore, but we don't sell finished silicone pieces.

  • are u gonna cut eye holes?

  • This is not a mask.

  • how long can you make the silicone mask last ? - it seems to have a short life span, im i correkt?

  • Platinum Silicone has a very long life. Decades long.

  • fine and thank you for the info but is PLATINUM Silicone something different or special or better in quality than other varieties? i dont know the topic that well

  • Gel-10=Platinum silicone.

  • where did you get the bust to put the silicone on. i am looking for one

  • This was cast into a mold of a face. See part one for the casting part. Full instructions are on our DVD "Fundamentals of Silicone Skins" available on our webstore.

  • This is kinda creepy yet absolutely fascinating.

  • Lol and then it turn out it was a real head 0.o

  • How can you cut down on the sheen that this skin has. The sheen is great for the face but I want to create a more realistic matte look for leg limbs. Thanks!

  • The Fundamentals DVD gets more in depth on painting technique, but the easiest way is to powder.

  • where you can buy latex?

is it come mix or do i have to mix it?

how do you cast a face?

  • This is Silicone. The fine people at BITY Mold Supply will be glad to help you get latex or silicone. Go to BITY moldsupply . com

  • is silicone sealant harmful to the skin?

  • Silicone sealant is NOT skin safe.

  • is this a mask?

  • No, this is just a realistic prop face. However, the same basic procee may also be used for masks.

  • if you pull the part you punch will it come out

  • Yes. On masks that may take some abuse you may turn the piece inside out after punching and add some silicone to the exposed hair to anchor it.

  • looks so real.......amazing job

  • Thanks!

  • so graphic! :)

  • Hahahah male pattern baldness. xD you're funny. =P

  • Ouch! Well, I HAD one, but I literally just sold it on ebay. So it looks like I'll be staying tuned. ; )

  • Hey brick, thanks for all the great videos! Would the gel 10 silicone work for animatronic skin applications and also l just checked out your websight and noticed that you had a class in 2007. Any thought on doing any more classes in the future?

  • We just had our last spring class over the weekend. If you have a time machine you are welcome to attend any of our 2007-08 classes. If not, we will be putting up a new schedule for late summer/early fall in a few weeks. Stay tuned.

  • the eye lashes are so easy a cave man could do it!

  • Yes, I cheated :)

  • awesome

  • How can you make it with open eyes not closed ?

  • Get our DVD "Fundamentals of Silicone Skins". It covers the entire resculpting process and molding. You can also see a short version on youtube: Sculpting Open Eyes.
