Merry Christmas to you too Rainiac. I prefer live commentary, as it can be hilarious sometimes (Ref. your Yoshi Island LP), but also annoying. I echo cuda, as gamers approach "That One Level", you can tell it can get pretty hairy for the producer.
Myself? I am retiring from LP's, as I do not have time for recording.
I will say that with LP's, I do prefer live commentary/playthroughs because of the whole "anything can happen" tone. I'm sure it's frustrating for you personally as the gamer to have That One Level where it takes multiple tries/videos to complete but that's all part of the fun to me since we've all had times like that playing games. It's refreshing to watch gamers who still make mistakes and die and haven't memorized every pixel and millisecond of gameplay to know how to best achieve victory.
I really enjoy your vids. I think I actually prefer them now with post-commentary, even though I did enjoy them with live commentary too. Love how you do research around the games you do, and also that you include some failures even though it's post...
About the lack of views I think that might have to do with your account getting hacked (and then loosing old vids) followed by the period with no updates, more than change in lp style (but I might be wrong ofc).
And I know the lack of feedback as well. But then again I know too well that I'm not any better in that matter since I rarely comment either, since it's not always easy to respond to a video if you got nothing to say unless the usual run-of-the-mill "good job".
It kinda depends on if there's also some input from the director to talk about.
I know that split between live/and post commentary too well. But I ended up going back to live commentary since I like its naturalness and post usually sounds kinda stiff and is a bit tedious to record even though it's more polished in the end. But before I record I usually write down some cliffnotes and I take the liberty of sneakily replacing some of the live commentary with post one in case I have complete brainlags during the recording.
Merry Christmas to you too. Just wanted to let you know, I've been watching your channel for a while now, but I just recently got an account, so as far as commenting goes, there hasn't been a lot of opportunities to really do it. I'll be sure to do that from here on out. Also, I honestly don't mind either of your gameplay styles. Each one has something to bring to the table, and they both work IMO.
yay DKC 3 one of my fav games ever ^_^ I wouldn't mind doing a co of of that with you although I haven't really done a let's play in a long time lol

@Cuda123087 I think you took the works right out of my mouth. I find it much more enjoyable to watch the live playthroughs.
