  • I say good for everyone that had a goos steep-father because mine was mean as hell to me and my siblings. It's sad when you have a man like that around and your mother put him before you.

  • Great song....I loved my father and step-father....They both taught me about life thru their triumphs and mistakes...

  • Great song!!! It my dad's song!

  • i lost my dad in 2009 i love and miss him so much he was a great man and father the best mr john {jack} bruce i will see him and mom my brother one day

  • my father was geat man this song is for my father

  • To all the fathers who were strong enough to sacrifice without knowing what their reward would be. For my dad it was the ultimate reward: No sons or daughters on drugs, in jail or doing dirt to others. Every sibling remained married to their original spouse until death did they part. And everyone legitimately earned a living. It was the greatest tribute we could give to the man.

  • There are fathers out their young ones who are spending time bonding with their babies. I would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to the young brothas' I've seen who is steppin on up!!!

  • @medusa7ful

yes!! let's give them some love & respect!!

  • My Man loved this song & it repped what he was to My Kids...He was'nt thier father. But he loved them just the same...I loved him for that... even with all the crap....He Loved My Kids & I loved him for that......May he RIP...

  • I think this is a wonderful song with many words of wisdom and a wonderful blues beat. I had but a dim memory of this song until I came across it enjoying the great music of the past of You Tube, thank you for this post.

  • The pride I feel in my heart for my father when I hear this song, cannot be measured, my dad is gone on home now, but my love for him is still stronger then ever, I wish that the fathers of today can be like fathers of old, thanks for the post

  • @49jubilee Yeh! you are so right because i'm one of those guys, and today i had to remind my step son who is like a regular son to me of that. He,s cool. Every once in a while i have to give him a reallity check, but i made up my mind today that i am going to have him to sit here and listen to my antem. Thanks for you comment

  • beautiful video i have always loved this song, it's a shame that more music like this isn't played on the radio today.

  • This song also got a gold record!

  • My grandfather Phil Tolotta is in this band. He is still very talented. He rocks at the piano! As always!

  • He does not need to be a color and long as there was love for the woman and the family today more so than anytime in this nation history is this found to be true.

We have a more diverse culture so the skin tone is becoming a non-identifiable element in society as to whom your father maybe and thank god for that... thanks for the post of a wonderful song this music being a part of normal listing these day via radio

  • @rodney1238 this song has nothing to do with skin color. It's about a man being a man, something a lot of men need to try.

  • Dads are very special too......

  • for my dad.. a man that i did not share blood with yet .. made me understand about the world daddy.. he was there when my real father did'nt want to be there . he got me through med school and my brother through law school ...he has been gone 5 years now ... thank you .. you loved us ....

  • I'm white...my dad was white...but this song knows no racial boundaries. My dad passed at the age of 62 when I was 20 and I cry every time I hear this song......

  • @tallpaul559 I am black, and I submit to you that this song is universal to all of us. I am sorry to hear about your father's passing when you were 20. My father passed at 63 when I was 38. It hurts no matter how young/old one is. This song gives me inspiration and reflection on how to be a man. Blessings to you my friend.

  • My father was , well not the best when he left my mother meant a wonderful man this song is for him Mr. Pratt

  • who is on those drums outstanding!

  • The Winstons. Imagine the heat a band would get today with such a politically incorrect name. Ah, who cares. I say, smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

They shoulda done a version of PUFF the magic dragon.

  • Be anti-war please. I fought in Iraq with the 1-12 CAV in 2004. I left behind twin newborn boys. I live for my boys and would sacrifice anything for them. Nevertheless, I would never want to defer my fatherhood to even a much richer and better man. Please oppose all wars all the time. I love this song BTW.

    MR. ROBERT (FAST BLACK) ALLEN

SUNSET 6/1967 ~ I MISS YOU DADDY AND REMEMBER EVERY THING YOU TAUGHT ME THANK YOU FOR LOVING ME AND MY MOM~I DID NOT SHARE YOUR BLOOD BUT YOUR HEART ~MISS YOU SOOO DADDY ~

  • Happy Father's day to all dads out there, and those men who are like dads to those who need a dad the most! :)

  • @MrJavinbur As Long As Queen James Is Playing for The Heat they may never win The "Big One"!!!!

  • I swear this song was written for my stepfather who married my mom when I was 16. Dad took in 7 children that were not his, raised us all as his own and made it all work with just an 8th grade education and a steelworker's job under his belt. Now that Mama is gone and Dad is blind and heading steadily toward that abyss of alzheimers, I thank him every day for loving us enough to find room in his heart for all 7 of us. He is truly our dad in every way...thank you for raising us right, Dad.

  • my mom loved this song , we it often when we were kids...thanks for the memories

  • @tefnutbellsouthnet Yes and Amen!! I vividly remember this song, playing constantly in the summer of 1969. My parents grew up during the depression and know what poverty is like. Both came from big families. But they had only me. I lost my dad 30 years ago.("m crying now) and I miss not having a "RELATIONSHIP" with him.

  • @tefnutbellsouthnet We all know such a man. My father continues in me. My wife and I raised 7 kids. all educated but with difficulties. Dad's determination, resolute strength, kindness, firmness and godly values continue through to my kids. Thanks Dad. RIP
