I DEFINETLY like this kind of vampire and Interview With The Vampire is one of my favourite films. But Twilight appeals to teenage girls. Twilight is obviously soppy and they are all sparkly in sunlight because it would be awkward if Bella and Edward were having a lovey dovey moment and he just burned in the sun. Although I'd love it if that really happened!

Never mind that filming the chronicles was a bad idea, the sequel being worse than the first film but did anyone notice how Cruise, in his psychosis kept switching back and forth between the fake Irish accent he studied For and Away and what he thought sounded french? Bad idea.

I'll always love Lestat in this movie as a character. This movies still, at least to me, the best vampire movie out there, and yes I've seen Queen of The Damned(which was good) and the full Twilight series, and they don't really come close. Underworld was a good series, Underworld came close to being this good, but wasn't quite as classy.

So she preyed on people whom she knew would try and help her. I loved her character in the book as well as the movie, although I would have loved to see her character live on in the other books as well. She was great, as was Louis and Lestat. All remarkable characters, created back in the 70's when the world wasn't ready.
This film is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the Twilight series. But come to think of it..the perfection of vampires are really portrayed on twilight, proving the immortality. No weakness. Wiser by all the knowledge that came through. And a very unique yet beautiful reason of why they can't stay at sunlight. But hell..this film, definitely one of the bests!!
Robert Pattinson can and did play the piano in Twilight as Edward Cullen. Can't say Tom did the same even in his best role ever as Lestat. Sure, this film is better than Twilight, but oh, the irony! lol.
I'm so sick of the Twilight debate. Stephanie Meyer is a brilliant writer who went the extra mile and created vamps from her imagination. After all, that's what Bram Stoker did. They are a creation from 1 man's mind. BTW, the Twilight movies are awful, but the books are very good!
@Libramoon77 Bram Stoker created Dracula based on legends/superstition from European countries. Also Anne Rice invented her own idea of vampires too (the book Queen of the Damned explains the creation of the first vampires EVER in her universe from an evil spirit in ancient Egypt, and vampires were not portrayed as sympathetic, feeling characters in books until she wrote Interview), but because she did it in the '70s and it influenced most modern vampire literature people tend to forget this.
@Libramoon77 we also probably wouldn't have Stephanie Meyer's portrayal of vampires as 'beautiful' if the vampire book Carmilla had never been published. Just because Meyer claims not to have based Twilight on other vampire books/movies doesn't mean she was not unconsciously influenced by them. And just because someone says something is 'original' does not make it great. Stoker put 7 years of research into his novel. The difference in the quality of writing between Dracula and Twilight is vast.

@myheartismadeofstars i completly agree. whats coolest is that lestat plays the suave villian with undertones of insanity and revenge in mind for what they did to him while still maintaining the feel of a guy who just wants to be friends. So he shows undeniable evil and controlling in when hes being selfish and manipulative but its none more obvious than in this scene
@myheartismadeofstars but the way he speaks normally makes it feel deceptivly like theres no hard feelings; that whay when his anger blows hes really pissed and the revenge. lestat was written as the PERFECT villian and he made a great vampire. Tom crusie and brad pit in this were excellent and not overdone in the slightest. "OH SWEET MERCIFUL DEATH!"
Lestat is great and all, but man does he ever die?! O-o I realize he fed off the Vampire Queen or some crap like that, but that makes him unkillable? Almost as annoying as those Cullen freaks that deny burning in sunlight.
Kirsten Dunst got to act with both Cruise and Pitt at such a young age. I just love this movie and I love all of Rice's characters. I just hate how this is compared to the Twilight series sometimes or how Meyer made vampires to seem so flawless and sparkly. She needs a reality check. Rice made her vampires have real emotions. She made us fall in love with Lestat not only for his best traits but for also his worst. That's why I just love Lestat in this film/book.
@RosesNightengales Yes, he's playing the piano. He learned to play the piano while transforming himself into a real vampire before the movie began to shoot. He had plenty of time to do so because the movie team had to travel back in time to 1823 to shoot this particular scene. It also sucked cause he had to get dumped in the swamp and get bitten in the ass by crocodiles and mosquitos, but the mosquitos didn't get any blood... That's right, cause he was a vampire.

I have to say that they did an excellent job with casting Lestat. Before i first saw it I was upset that tom cruise was playing him. Now not only is Lestat my favorite charater in the series, I cannot find any other actor that could play him as good as Tom! And man did they make him look sexy! :)

However, though it bothers me that she did away with him, I can't help but love Louis, Lestat, and Claudia. All of their characters are awesome. Claudia is really clever, you have to admit, for fooling a witty man like Lestat. I find it hard to watch the rest of the movie once Claudia dies though. =/ Without her, Louis is just so sad. lol

LOVED Tom as Lestat, my top favorite vampire ever lol. I love Anne Rice's vampires, Such seductive aristocrats. I just hate how if you say you like vampires now people automatically ask if you are team jacob or edward, like.... uh you mean team punk ass bitch vampires? excuse my language. I don't dig the Twilight. I like my vampires to have the defining traits of a vampire in the words of Damon from The Vampire Diaries:"I live in the real world where vampires burn in the sun".

I have to say that they did an excellent job with casting Lestat. Before i first saw it I was upset that tom cruise was playing him. Now not only is Lestat my favorite charater in the series, I cannot find any other actor that could play him as good as Tom! And man did they make him look sexy! :)

@arizonadesertcheif I dislike how she betrayed Lestat like that, totally did him in as a way to get back at him for locking her inside a child's body forever. However, though it bothers me that she did away with him, I can't help but love Louis, Lestat, and Claudia. All of their characters are awesome. Claudia is really clever, you have to admit, for fooling a witty man like Lestat. I find it hard to watch the rest of the movie once Claudia dies though. =/ Without her, Louis is just so sad. lol
