b20/vtec also know as a b20c common setup but ppl dont like them cause of the failure rate. i built a b20c and put it in nthe low 9's 5 years ago. i know honda in and out and can build them with my eyes closed.

You would need high compression numbers to yield the compression necessary to make that kind of power. Considering there are only two companies I believe that make performance pistons for the b20 means you would need extensive machine work to do the rest. With the worst R/S ratio of all the b motors
sounds to me like he has a b20 block with a b16/18 vtec head on it. and yeah it needs a limiter on it around 8k... or... just go with forged internals and dont worry about the limiter lol

@longhorn6973 You can remove the rev limiter BUT that does not mean you can just keep revving up there. The stock rod ratio on a CRV is about a 1.52, which means that revving the piss out of it will eventually throw a rod through the block. You should probably go do some more reading before you speak.

@flesh199 he shouldnt be revving past stock limiter anyway, even with a vtec head. I doubt he built the bottom end anyway.

@trumpetplyrmatt B-20 is a factory motor.....And it's a DOHC Vtec motor. If you chip it that "factory motor" can rev up to 9,500.....

@longhorn6973 the B20B4, which came standard in the CRV, is NOT a VTEC engine. This guy obviously added a VTEC head with some sort of conversion kit.

@longhorn6973 You can remove the rev limiter BUT that does not mean you can just keep revving up there. The stock rod ratio on a CRV is about a 1.52, which means that revving the piss out of it will eventually throw a rod through the block. You should probably go do some more reading before you speak.

k ty, i got a B20B and its not VTEC, i thought cause he said it and i could hear it. so if he changed the heads how does it make it sound like a vtec (it cant be a vtec can it, just by changing the heads? becaseu the vtec technology is within the camshafts and cam lobes)
