I love Jason as Ronon and for all those fearing what tour new Conan would be like need only watch this clip for the brutal savage justice we all want to see from our favorite barbarian!!!
@Mrmoc7 Yep... SG-A's story is much more hardcore than SG-1 in my opinion. They have some pretty deep things going on, they aren't afraid of being unlucky, and instead of being lucky they persist solely through McKay's badass intelligence.
@Halo1Pokemon1Master I agree, however Teal'c has suffered 50 years of time dilation, Tritonin (however you spell it), a lack of training (probably) and Ronin is ripe, he's been running 7 years, has a badass swinging motion and was angry at the time. - H
@MurryFolt The ambiguity is pretty awesome I have to say :D
Also yes, and do you notice in SG-A the general scene between Sheppherd and Ronon is the training room with sticks ?
Where was it for Teal'c and O'neill? The ping pong table, or boxing which let's be fair is not a very efficient method of fighting :D
Teal'c was definitely trained good though - I can't imagine Bra'tac being 100 years younger with his symbiote, makes me think he coudl take Teal'c and Ronon on alone :D
@Thecrazyhide Coming back to reply to your comment gave me another reason to rewatch this awesome scene ;)
And I would so love to see that fight scene! Bra'tac is old school, you could say. He trained Teal'c, and Teal'c was nearly dead even with Ronon. If the two of them went up against Bra'tac... What a glorious fight that would be!
But yeah... boxing is nothing compared to what these guys did. Teal'c got soft after joining SG-1, but Ronon got a bit soft to after joining Atlantis.
@MurryFolt Which was kind of my point xD You see guns, guns and explosions in SG-1, which I'm perfectly fine with, but when it comes to some brutal sword-fighting and some gorey fight scenes in SG-A (Ronon vs 3 Satedans anyone?) it really shows how hardcore they were - and then you compare that to what you would expect from SG-1's Jaffa and they're babies...
I would LOVE a glorified SG-1, with blood and a more realistic presentation of what the Jaffa went through in their training :D
@Thecrazyhide Ah... now I see your point! :D Took me long enough. I definately see what you mean now. And also, Ronon had to go up against what I think were the best SG villians ever, the wraith. Those guys are just awesome, but Ronon is their bane.
I really wish that they didn't make the jaffa seem so weak. They got the same training as Teal'c, why aren't they so beastly? It would be awesome to see them as they should be seen.
@MurryFolt Definitely about the Wraith and the Jaffa appearing weak. The Wraith I wouldn't think could defeat the combined Goa'uld forces given Anubis' growth but it was their relation to the story and furthermore how they worked - they weren't necessarily evil, they simply done what we did with cows (Season 3, the trial for Skara, this example was used by a Goa'uld), I still don't agree with it but I really don't see any other reason with the exception of what happened to the Asgard.
@Thecrazyhide At Anubis' prime I don't think the Wraith OR the Ori, both major enemies, could have won. Only the replicators because they can win agains any technology. And I agree with you on them not being necessarily evil. We are the source of their survival... we just also happen to be a sentient race. And since we have access to some sweet tech, it leads to a lot of cool space battles too. Which makes me realize... Wraith vs Goa'uld vs Ori vs Replicators vs whoever I forgot would be awesome
@MurryFolt Anubis would have lost against the Ori, it makes his flagship with the superweapon look like only that could equal one of the four Ori ships that came through - and how much hassle was that for Anubis to create? :D
Replicators would have won either of them - they pounded the Wraith, they decimated Atlantis and there's not much diff between them and the Ori - "They're the scourge of two galaxies".
@Thecrazyhide THE FURLINGS! YES!!! I bet they could screw everyone!
And there was more than Anubis' flagship during his prime. Take that ship, plus HIS fleet, plus the fleet of those under him (pretty much all the system lords if I remember right), and his advanced tech, and it would be quite the fight. But in pure quality of ships, he would lose, which is why he had good quality on some while having lots of others. LOTS! But the system lords were weakend before all this :(
@MurryFolt He had the common Mothership build plus his flagship - despite the entire galaxies stockpile of Al'kesh, Cargo Ships, Death Gliders, and Ha'tak vessels I obviously think they could take out the 4 Ori vessels - at heavily cost-inefficient losses with the addition that if it were the full force of the Ori (a village of 10,000 that constructed roughly 4... correct? And an entire galaxy following the Ori)... Ori would win - kind of easily. :D
@Thecrazyhide Yeah... full on Ori vs Goa'uld wouldn't work in the long run. Unless in the battles they managed to steal some tech from the Ori, which they're known for. But, the replicators are MUCH better at that. But after seeing the ZPM powered Hive, I think if the replicators took over the tech of the wraith with it's potential with the advanced tech of the the Ori (probably better than the Ancients anyway), there would be no hope. Any good guy mixes this beast?
@MurryFolt An organic type replicator? Interesting. It would make processing much more simple and regeneration a possiblity but the disadvantages like instinct, hyperdrive cooldowns and obvious problem with heat / fire could make it bad for any other operation.
Wraith / Ori would be exceptionally powerful. The weapons of the Hives wouldn't be very powerful in comparison to the Ori's but they've shown a unique ability to shoot down darts and as such are capable of beating down missiles. :D
@Thecrazyhide Well that's why the Replicators, after taking Ori tech, would take the advantages of Wraith organic tech and leave out the rest. If it couldn't be done, they could stick with Ori tech. If they used Ori shields, Wraith hull, and their ability to replicate with metal and extended that to organic material as well, they would be nearly invincible! Unless one of the franchise's (SG-1, SG-A or SG-U) super genius's came up with somthing (I'm betting on Carter or Mckay).
@MurryFolt An Ultraspeed radiation like the Alterro Device which instead of suiciding any hyperspeed ships it will merely cut off their ability to have their hull regenerate - once they adjust you use a form of EMP which... why was it not used on the Daedulus? Would be pretty effective.
McKay would do it if he was on the ship, I guess :D
@Thecrazyhide And since it's obvious none of these villians can use strategy, they wouldn't assissinate him either. And even if the hull couldn't regenerate... the sheer number of huge ships plus they're shields and fighters would be quite the task. I would like to see the ascended Ancients step in }:) But we all know that wouldn't happen... unless the wraiplicori or whatever started tampering with higher planes of existence.
@MurryFolt Lol yes, like Kolya capturing SG-A's prime team how many times without taking delicious revenge? Give me a break :P
That, and the Bloodstone effects ascended beings - it cancels them out. How far would they go to prevent it? To protect their hides, anything - when it comes to a lower plane however, you know, slavery, decimation in the millions and the like, it's not big deal >.>
Please give them some decent strategy - like in Battlestar Galactica :D
@JCLounon The Combat Sport in itself is inefficient because it trains only fists. Speed and strength in boxing don't mean too much when you can't use your legs aside from mobility -- kicks have the ability to be much more powerful, come from more angles, have lots of concentrated power and to be used quickly that can very easily confuse an inexperienced opponent.
@Thecrazyhide Don't underestimate boxing's focus on fists. Contrary to what you see in movies, kicking isn't as effective as you may think. The problems with kicking is that you risk your balance, and although they are powerful, they are relatively slow and easy to evade. A lot of kicks come in slow motion to a good boxer.
Boxing's biggest strength is the focus on mobility which allows them to move around the opponent and dance away from powerful attacks.
@JCLounon Yeah I'm well aware of the effectiveness of Boxing -- it's ironic how you told me not to underestimate where it seems you've done the same :P Fists are exceptionally powerful and tend to be faster -- but not by much. The power of kicking and the distribution of weight can allow huge mobility, great arcs of attack and lots of power that is effortless in comparison to a punch. Check out the Korean Taekwon-do Demo Team for very nice kicks (they also punch Marble bricks, epic)
@elmoekardt Skinny little guy? Ronon? Who do you think he is, Woody Allen? Actually I've seen promotional shots of Jason as Conan and he doesn't look bad. He's not Arnold (though he has bulked up for the part) but then barbarian warriors really shouldn't look like a Mr Universe contestant.
@elmoekardt rofl hes a combat specialist. You do realize muscles can get in the way.... To be a real fighter you need a balance between muscle and flexibility. He was also a runner, you wont find any fast runners that have bulky muscles as they slow you down. Also last time I checked Conan usually fought with a sword and sometimes a shield. Ronon fights with any weapon or bare-handed. Also the bigger the target the easier it is to hit him.
@Metallicalistener123 saw he was mentally tougher than the average human..so decided to make him a runner.. make the toughest humans runners for a better challenge for them.. There was a Episode with another runner who was the same type of guy as well. You saw when they were feeding on Ronon he just showed anger NO PAIN
@Metallicalistener123 Because it makes for a better story, than just to suck the life out of such a cool character but instead to make him a wraith sport.
I mean, Teal'c when i watched only stargate sg-1 i said "WOW! Hes the ultimate fighting machine! But whn i saw Ronon fight, i just wow! He combined strength and speed!
OMG i love the way he fights...

@Thecrazyhide Lack of training? We both watched the same SG-1 series, right? Teal'c was trained good. He was the first prime of Apophis.
Ronon had only formal military training, then the 7 years of experience running. And was probably a hundred years younger.
I'm thankful we never saw the end of that fight. It leaves it open to the imagination...
