Hey thank you so much for posting this tutorial Vid. I recently picked up a MO6 which seems to pretty much work exactly like a Motif and I have learned that the Yamaha Manuals are about worthless. After a couple hours of going no where, I got up and running right away with your Vid.

i have my motif6 "classic" running thru protools 8 via an edirol um1-ex midi interface. when i use it with the edirol or with a standard usb cable to track midi or audio, it doesnt sync properly. idk if its latency or if i dont have something set correctly.

System configurations have gotten fairly consistent for sometime. So i'd think your utilities features, or like system configuration settings, should have some cross over likeness to what you get on the Motif 8, but can't be sure. There are many general midi tutes on YT for just getting started with how it works, in general. Gots to be patient.

Can you transfer the actual beats you created from the Motif to garageband session? Or will the Motif only be used as a Midi keyboard? Please get back

sorry for the delay. Just found this.

I'd say set your midi tracks in GB to match that of your set up in the Motif seq mixer mode, make sure both BPM match and tempo, enable record on GB, then hit record - while tape heads moving, start the sequence in the Motif.

Isn't there an export feature from the Motif that allows you to export SMF ?

GB may be a little limited in this context.
