  • I swear there are 3 not a couple

  • has anyone else had a dream about "The Train of Harpers Ferry"? i just woke up and had a dream about it. :(

  • This video is totally awesome! I always like the sound of SD40-2's working while going uphill. Great job!

  • nothing like a hard working emd..feelin that power hit you in the chest..god its awesome

  • Love that SOUND! URR URR! Boy alot of TRAIN STRAIN goes on @ tha Pass! :-D

  • wide open

  • this is movie is the best. good. i like. i loved.

i have movies in the trains in de Brazil. see.

  • Great video man!

  • Nice video, I wasn't even born yet when this was taken, July 5 85 :D

  • Superb video, thanks.

  • WOW! No caboose in 1985!

  • The Fred actually started in the early 1970's on the Florida East Coast.

  • I know that but, SP didn't get rid of cabooses until 1994, so this suprises me.

  • SP stopped using Cabooses back in 1990 on Mainline trains. But 1994 maybe for Locals and UP still has SP Bay Window's for use on Locals today.

  • I know UP still uses SP cabooses, I've seen 2, but actually the last long distance train ran on the SP with a caboose was in 1994, ATSF stopped using cabooses in 1990.

  • Interesting: I don't recall seeing any cabooses on Long Distant SP trains from me videos from 1990 -1994 and when I went to Cajon Pass or Tehachapi none of the SP trains had cabooses that I can recall seeing.

  • The SP trains on Donner Pass, the Shasta Route, the Cascade Route, and the Modoc Line all had cabooses

  • In the Trains magazine video SP in the Cascade's none of the trains had a caboose. I find this surprising. Do you have any photos or videos of SP trains during that time period you are talking about with a caboose at the rear?

  • Extreme SP by Charles Smiley shows most trains with cabooses.

  • @trainboy94 CSX stopped using cabooses in 1989.

  • wow that sounds awesome

  • Ah, Classic UP, way better than who we have today.

  • Ithought all railroads had cabooses because in all your other videos of freight trains in the '80s they do.

  • You gotta love the sound of a couple of 40-2's working uphill.

  • I especially enjoy listening to them when they are way off and getting closer. Tehachapi is another good spot for that.

  • oh yea! i love that sound. Give about 3 SD-40s workin uphill with an Added C40-8CW and you have some real music!

  • Amen to that!

  • i like the sound at
