  • Pokemon do exist you ignorant bigot !

  • what the hell is a jesus christ?

  • there's a good amount of evidence that christ existed. just not that the religious ideas that he preached were true. so im not really on your side, even though im an atheist too

  • One question.

Whats with the dice? because i'm sure they exist.

  • My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

  • Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.

  • Thank you for your response to my vid--wait, no, sorry, you're not bothering to actually comment on my video. You're just praying at me. Idiot Godbot.

  • oh i love your dark vader. can i have it?

  • Are you going to tell all the self proclaimed witches that they don't exist, you are not very smart

  • Okay, maybe I was overstating things there. People who call themselves witches DO exist. Magic is bullshit, however, and so witch*craft* doesn't exist.

  • Please accept my humble apology "you are not very smart" it was pretty rash of me to say that.

  • yellow vw beatles don't exist either?

  • That "Yellow VW Beetle" is Bumblebee, from the Transformers. Transformers don't exist :p.

  • If this whole God thing is really real, all your wishful thinking about Him being a ferry tale won't get you very far. It would be like a lunatic trying to blot out the sun by scribbling "darkness" on the walls of his room.

  • thwonk121, what you're proposing is a form of "Pascal's Wager," and can just as easily be used to ask, "What if you're wrong about Allah? You're fucked if you die and find out that Mohommed is the true prophet." For your sake, I hope you're hedging your bets and praying to Mecca three times a day.

And it's "fairy tale." A ferry tale would be, "One time, while I was riding the boat into New York City, I met a woman ... "

  • bhudso01

Actually I wasn't implying anything about Pascal's wager. Such a thing is really silly. It's all about pretending to believe in God just in case He's really real, because if He is, He'll get you. Nobody can "pretend" to believe in anything after all. What I was getting at is this: just because you don't believe in something doesn't make it exist or not.

  • "What I was getting at is this: just because you don't believe in something doesn't make it exist or not."

Vishnu agrees. And being eaten by ravenous birds while hellfire burns away your bad karma is NOT the kind of eternity you want to face. So maybe you should reconsider Hinduism.

  • bhudso01,

Personally I'd love t be an atheist, but I can't summon up enough faith. I mean you have to believe (1) something can come from nothing, (2) life can come from non-life, and (3) consciousness can come from matter. And that's just for starters! These propositions are anything but scientific or intellectual. They are ferry tales for grown-ups.

  • Atheism isn't based on faith.

    1. Which atheist claims something comes from nothing? That's what theists claim with their imaginary god and its abilities to magically pop matter from nothing into existance.

    2. There is no reason to suspect life cannot come from non-life. Take college level biology one day.

    3. Consciousness does come from matter. It's call a brain.

  • You Ask, "Which atheist claims something comes from nothing?"

Well, no atheists did until the first half of the 20th century. Before then all atheists believed that matter was self-existent and eternal. That is until Edwin Hubble (a committed atheist who believed in the eternality of matter himself) discovered the red shift in the stars. He concluded that the universe is expanding. (cont.)

  • Everyone saw the implications; if you look back far enough, you'd find all matter has a beginning. This of course put atheists in the awkward position of concluding everything in the universe came from nothing because of nothing.

Hubble's observations do, however fit surprisingly well with, "In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth."

  • converse02 - In response to the challenge: "There is no reason to suspect life cannot come from non-life." You responded, "Take college level biology one day."

Thank you, I have. If you are saying science has shown life can come from non-life, I think you better check your facts. I'm sure you studied Louis Pasteur's work when he finally proved in the 1860's that maggots don't spontaneously generate out of rotten meat. (Cont.)

  • If you were referring to the Miller/Urey Experiment of 1953, you really should read some text books written in the last 50 years or so, to see that it was debunked on several levels by fellow scientists operating from philosophical naturalism themselves.

  • thewonk121, college level biology is obviously not enough for you. Louis Pasteur's work with a FLASK did not mimick the conditions ENTIRE EARLY Earth. And the Miller/Urey experiment has NOT been debunked. If it has, please tell by which scientist and at what university.

  • First of all, you need to understand the limit of the claims of Miller/Urey. They found that zapping a solution with electricity could in the right conditions create amino acids. As ou well know, amino acids are not even close to being life. They are the building blocks of proteins, but in order to form a protein, they need to be assembled in a specific sequence that simply cannot self-assemble. So first off, keep in mind Miller/Urey never claimed to create life artificially.

  • Here's the other problem. The atmosphere in the Miller/Urey experiment has little to do with the actual primordial atmosphere. The atmosphere they used was kind of a setup. Scientists have concluded that there was not much if any hydrogen in the early earth's atmosphere because it would have escaped into outer space. By the way, when the experiment is done with any oxygen in the mixture, it didn't even produce any organic molecules at all.

  • When the experiment is done using an atmosphere more like the early earth's you end up with organic chemicals, but not ones hospitable with life. You end up with cyanide and formaldehyde. That's embalming fluid, not the building blocks of any kind of life on earth. The modern text books mention that organic compounds arise, but fail to mention what kinds they are.

  • "(1) something can come from nothing"

    Like, say, a deity?

  • bhudso01

I can only assume you're trying to be funny. By very nature God would have to be self-existent (having no beginning) . Anything that could create space and time would need to be outside both space and time. This is certainly true of the God of the Bible you are so busy blaspheming.

  • yes, and apple cobbler doesn't spontaneously come from the dirt either, but sand does come from rock, just like DNA comes from random protiens and amino acids which come mostly from the random interactions of hydrogen, potassium, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulphur.

  • Wow, and it only took 11 months for that response.

How exactly does DNA come from random proteins amino acids? And how does this first random protein come into existence?

  • But all this things do exist! In the infinite mind or if you like imagination of people. So, they are not real, but they DO EXIST.

  • Oookkkaaaayyy ... and your point is?

  • My point? Well, you are wrong. You should say "it is not real" not "it doesn't exist". There is plenty of information about this things in books, movies, computer games and most important in our brains. So fictional characters exists only as information not as a real thing, but they DO EXIST.

  • If you need an example, think about a poem. It only exists as an information. It is something _created_ by a human mind, don't you agree? Does a poem exist?

OK, I know what you meant in you video. But when I sometimes see an atheist and theist argue about the existence of god I cannot help myself but took a dictionary and say: "See? God exists but it's a fictional character."

  • "OK, I know what you meant in you video. "

Of course you do. Any reasonable person would. So what's the point of gainsaying just to be disagreeable?

  • I wanted to present a different point of view. That's all.

  • Jesus does exist. When your hit points reach -10 and Solars armed with +5 vorpal longswords start coming after you, don't come crying to me. You're Armor Class will not save you. Then you will believe, but it'll to late. What you get for listening to the false clerics in Deities and Demi-Gods.

  • Jesus is real! Why won't you just accept him and let him come into your heart?! I will pray for you to my invisible, all powerful, all knowing, and none existent imaginary monster! I CAN FEEL THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE POWER OF BATHING IN THE MAGIC BLOOD OF JESUS!

  • So, what's up with that yellow automobile?

  • Yoo liar! Darth Vader is real. My soul has been touched by him and my force grown ever since.!

  • If those things on your shelf dont exist, then what were you showing us...? Paul walked through the Aereopagus where he observed all of the idols which the people worshipped and listened to the latest philosophies and ideas.. However he did not choose to proclaim the names of those Idols which did have names. He noticed an idol with the inscription "To an UNknown god" Be not fooled friend..."For God will not be mocked."

  • Something different. I like it!

  • Hey that was great.
