  • you can only put so much/hear so much feel in a quarter of a second.

  • this is how rednecks shred

  • thats was crazy

  • anybody out there know apx. of many albums brent's played on?

  • @jteshuwah It's said he is on at least seven Country Top ten songs, but I read that from an older article. I would hate for him to waste his talent on Taylor Swift. The stuff he did with Alan Jackson was killer.

  • @BucksStudent i agree completely. enough of this "country pop" stuff. i love Alan Jackson, brooks and Dunn (sorry to see them go solo, don't think it's a good idea), Clint black, etc. what i really would hope and pray to see is Carrie Underwood go back to Real, honest to God country and stop trying to be "poppy." it's like watching Michelangelo paint signs. now, i'd like to see brent play on THAT. THAT would be AMAZING!

  • @BucksStudent not to bother you again, but i went to brent's website and looked at his discography... let's just say i have no idea when the guy sleeps. i stopped counting on page three and i was only up to '98. the guy's a MACHINE!

  • @jteshuwah Have you seen him? He had sleeping bags under hid eyes, and constant five o'clock shadow! The guy probably eats wheaties at six P.M., and steak for breakfast.

  • Simply incredible!!

  • As a 4th rate guitarist who has listened to everything (Yes, I know metal heads that Randy rules) everytime I listen to this guy, it's like The Big Bang has occured all over again. He's got notes his guitar mine doesn't have. LOL Awesome picker!

  • OMG

  • Holy Cow! Chip Foose on a guitar! ;)

  • Sick beyond belief.

  • As a session player in Nash, I played many times with Brent and Mark O'Conner. Mark Casstevens and I would be on acoustic. Brent always was a focused artist with endless licks and incredible tone. And a kind and thoughtful person to boot.

  • He probably did. Just something to get in the way of his extraordinaory playing. As a guitarist, I have nothing against a whammy bar, but a picker like Mason doesn't rely on or really need to use one. His fingers do the talking!

  • Yep, but what is that tremolo system mounted on the 68'tele? Seems not in use much and must later have been removed.

  • it looks like a floyd rose style system

  • He looks so relaxed playing this fast! My arms and fingers would fall off! He's amazing at what he does for sure!

  • cool picking

  • Nobody rocks like Brent... and the vally arts Tele... dude, it's the sickest.

  • thats the real Fender Telecaster he modified. Not the Valley Arts Tele. But Valley Arts and Joe Glaser did a hell of a job recreating that guitar.

  • i get all my guitar work done by joe there's not a single luthier out there that can out do him in my opinion he has fair prices and does what i think is impossible sometimes. for instance i have an old ibanez s540 with a locking tremolo and the mounting bolt got stripped out and stuck in the neck and i needed to remove it to replace the bolts and washers and joe did it without any trouble

  • i agree, and Joe is a great guy too. hes done some work on my Tele. Ive gotton to know him over the years of being in Nashville workin with alot of people.

  • yeah joe is a beast

  • jargon

  • I've played blues and rock most of my life. But these country cats are so good, it almost makes MAD!! WOW, that was FREAKIN' COOL!!!

  • i'm double stopped out hahaha

  • great balls of fire! what a picker!

  • Dang this looks really easy to learn. Not hard at all!! Anyone can or should be able to play this. lol. JK!!!! I love Brent Mason. He's amazing.

  • oh..no

    he's not playing with pick...

  • Yes he is. It's called a thumb pick.

  • Anyone know where i can get this backing track? This is just superb!

  • I mean, watching this guy play is like trying to grasp the size of the universe.

  • I think I'll try and learn that Willie Nelson solo first.

  • all the records that come out of Nashville are recorded by about five musicians, and Brent's one of them. :)

  • That's not correct.

  • He is most definitely correct. He's been THE top session player in Nashville the last 20 years. He doesn't do much session work anymore because he started his solo career, but he's played on literally HUNDREDS if not thousands of albums. He's the go to guy. Don't get me wrong, Chet Atkins was huge but he didn't play on quite as many projects as Brent has.

  • this is why he's the highest paid guitar player in Nashville history! If you don't sound like Brent, you don't work.

  • Comment removed

  • Again, that's not correct. Chet Atkins made a few more green backs than Brent ever did. I love Brent as much as the next guy but try to keep the facts straight. Over exaggerations are diminishing.

  • Wow!!! Thank you. Thank you for posting this. I never listened to him before. Killer player. Wow!!!

  • agree with geetarcliff Scotty shows much more fluid playing ability....although again it is useless to compare and contrast Jesus and Spiderman! ;_)

  • Amazing!!!

  • He probably does get paid by the note. Want to see how many he plays? Check out my website for the tabs.

  • Does he get paid by the note?

  • Holy cow! Great, great player!

  • i play rock n roll,but brent mason is sick!very gooood!

  • Im in love with his style! :P

  • who is eddie vanhalen again?

  • I love how Brent annihilates all the metal players. and just to mock them he has a freakin' Kahler on a telecaster.

  • annihilates all the metal players? search youtube for Paul Gilbert - 1987 Anahiem Guitar Clinic

  • paul gilbert is easily my favorite rock player but I'll eat my own crap if you can show me a video of Paul playing this fluidly over chord changes. As in, tasteful melodies that actually outline the chords or their tri-tone subs. Brent's musical grasp is mind blowing.

  • Jason Becker was ridiculously crazy-good. But Scotty Anderson is EVEN faster than him AND Brent Mason compounded by even more mind boggling melodic sensibility. And the craziest use of Travis picking...dare I say...ever.

  • Anybody know if these old 'American Music Shop' episodes are available on DVD?

  • he got the CHICKEN for sure !

  • he is the guitarist. stop.

  • this is getting silly.

  • I'm watching this after watching a dozen or so Scotty Anderson clips.

Whoooooaaaaaa. I have double stop sickness. LOL.

  • Kinda sped up a little?

  • no it's not... this is all actual speed... go download the song

  • I posted a tab of this "Pick It Apart" solo at Countrytabs. Look under Brent Mason. (Free registration required.)

  • Been to Nashville... couldn't get enough... will return soon LOVE THIS CHICKEN PICKIN' COUNTRY STUFF

  • Makes you wonder what instrument it is that you are playing

  • Awesome!

  • Strat for sale!!!

  • why does brent's guitar have a whammy?

  • Because he wanted one on it?

  • well i was wondering more like why does he not still have it on there now?

  • any chance on the whole track, love to hear Pauls Solo !

  • ive got that c.d. and it is smokin!!!

  • You Rock! I'll send you a video for that...

    Thanks,

    Forrest

  • Yeah Baby... Paul Franklin's steel solo is a killer too, anybody got video of that?

  • Yes, next week I'll post the song in its entirety.

  • Can someone tab that out for me?

  • No kidding.

  • I quit!

  • That's funny... I laughed out loud at your post...I do know what you mean...
