  • I agree with you that this type of "cleansing" diet is unhealthy. However, it is a great way to jump start into a more long-term diet plan for 2 reasons. 1) Knowing that you actually can lose weight is a great motivator for most people. Starting off with a big loss of weight will encourage you to stick to dieting. 2) If you can stick to this diet and only eat that nasty soup for 7 days, you can surely stick to any other diet that does not have as many restrictions if at all.
