This incident illustrates the reason why a competent Truck driver should never steer out of trouble even if there is risk of a collision - always keep the combination straight and brake hard to maximise the braking effort otherwise more carnage will ensue.
The CAR driver is a REAL DUMB. First he/she (Most probably SHE) missed the right turn and imagined to take the car safely back in busy traffic. CRAZY..
Truck driver did his best he had no choice but to pull to save the dump driver as well as again pulled the truck to left when while van came in front and finally....!!!! Truck was on speed and only 3 lane road we are talking about what better he could have done...

Maybe... but I've been hit 8 times by female drivers over approx 1.2 million km of driving Female -> Rear ended at lights or stop signs - 6x times/Hit by drunk driver 1x/scraped down the side of my car while im stopped. Males -> Tboned by old guy running light in slippery conditions 1x. Hit by idiot running red light at 90kph in downtown Oshawa 1x. Males may cause more severe accidents but females usually have less skill in avoidance

The asshole that stopped on the freeway should have his liscense revoked and pay for any medical bills and lost wages for the truck driver. Oh and the driver of the white van is a douche bag too.
The driver must be thanking those who installed the cam. Obviously, he would not get any witnesses to support his innocence. People who did not stop should all be given a whipping or their licence taken away. As for the driver who caused it... a brain transplant may be sufficient. :/

This video is a good example of why there needs to be adjustments made to the driver's license requirements for drivers who drive on the roads other than truck drivers. Drivers need to be forced by law to adhere to a set of rules with regards to big trucks. If you fail to heed both the path , and rear , of another vehicle , it's time you were retested to see if you are aware of how bad your driving habits have become.
It is the actual practice of defensive driving that will save you , not the knowledge thereof. Obviously , the car driver hadn't been practicing anything accept how to get where they were going no matter what. That is a very bad habit , especially for a truck driver , as , if you fall asleep , you are a projectile. Just think how it would be to be nailed for having killed 5 or 10 people , and having to spend 20+ years in jail for it. When , all of it was over not sleeping the right amounts.
That was stupid. This is why any truck driver needs to follow the defensive driving portions of his/her training. The proper practices of professional truck driving will save you the split seconds it takes to avoid such careless people. I had this happen to me while weighing over 100,000 lbs in a whiteout in winter. I actually changed lanes twice to miss a spinning out of control car , while I had reduced my speed for the conditions. Lucky I did , practice saves lives.

The light vehicle saved its life with amazing braking, and was, 5 seconds after seeing death in its face, composed enough to back away in a controlled fashion. Awesome.
Everyone's wound up about no jumping out to help - but the smart move would be to drive 50 meters past. Sudden incursions like this just BEG for a pileup. As fast as traffic continued to approach, my urgent priority would be to park past the wreck. The video stops before you know if that is precisely what the light vehicle did.

@djkissbird this is true but if it was a very busy day on the roads I would of just driven in to the back of them obviously with the brakes on but I wouldnt really of tried to swerve incase it causes an even bigger crash. lol imagine if all the lanes were full and a truck went plowing through all of them just to avoid one car, the chances are you would cause more deaths in trying to avoid just that one car. the sooner car drivers learn that trucks are completely different to cars the better.

@djkissbird I'm all for saving lives but this could have turned out WAY worse. Thankfully it didn't. The person in the car did astupid thing. The only reason I mentioned the truck should have kept going is because that car was the whole reason for the accident in the first place. I'd rather have the person who caused the accident get hit than an innocent person. In this case... it thankfully worked out. An innocent person who did nothing wrong could have been killed. thats all i meant.

The driver must be thanking those who installed the cam. Obviously, he would not get any witnesses to support his innocence. People who did not stop should all be given a whipping or their licence taken away. As for the driver who caused it... a brain transplant may be sufficient. :/

This video is a good example of why there needs to be adjustments made to the driver's license requirements for drivers who drive on the roads other than truck drivers. Drivers need to be forced by law to adhere to a set of rules with regards to big trucks. If you fail to heed both the path , and rear , of another vehicle , it's time you were retested to see if you are aware of how bad your driving habits have become.

It is the actual practice of defensive driving that will save you , not the knowledge thereof. Obviously , the car driver hadn't been practicing anything accept how to get where they were going no matter what. That is a very bad habit , especially for a truck driver , as , if you fall asleep , you are a projectile. Just think how it would be to be nailed for having killed 5 or 10 people , and having to spend 20+ years in jail for it. When , all of it was over not sleeping the right amounts.

That was stupid. This is why any truck driver needs to follow the defensive driving portions of his/her training. The proper practices of professional truck driving will save you the split seconds it takes to avoid such careless people. I had this happen to me while weighing over 100,000 lbs in a whiteout in winter. I actually changed lanes twice to miss a spinning out of control car , while I had reduced my speed for the conditions. Lucky I did , practice saves lives.

The light vehicle saved its life with amazing braking, and was, 5 seconds after seeing death in its face, composed enough to back away in a controlled fashion. Awesome.
Everyone's wound up about no jumping out to help - but the smart move would be to drive 50 meters past. Sudden incursions like this just BEG for a pileup. As fast as traffic continued to approach, my urgent priority would be to park past the wreck. The video stops before you know if that is precisely what the light vehicle did.

@Mainland444 Actually the truck driver could steer right after steering left to stabilize the vehicle and come into a full stop....That way he wouldnt have hot the white van nor would he flip the entire truck over...

@luissousa6 Actually i have driven quite a few trucks so far and even if the trailer was sooo heavy to "ignore" any movement he made he still didn't steer it right, we would had seen it from the wheels of the truck.
