  • i playd this mission in cod 2 and i think cod3

  • Lol always !!! but just remember why Monty took much caution ,Britain was in the war a lot longer than our Amarican allies we had already lost loads of men and recources by this stage and it was a good idea to be cautious against a Army that defeated the whole of continental Europe and nearly the world and unlike the Americans he did not have the recources or men to waste on mistakes ,But Patton was also a great Genral with good ideas especially about beating the Russians to take Eastern Europe

  • I believe monty was a good general but i believe that he was too cautious as well. Only when having far superior numbers and supplies would he attack. rather than having the dash of american general officers

  • IMO Monty was one of the most capable commanders of World War 2, along with von Rundstedt and Zhukov.

  • watch general vs general and it shows Rommel tried to lure montgomery out to fight a couple of times and when he didn't rommel was mad and wondered why he did not come out to fight montgomery just waited until all his troops and supplies were in place

  • Yes correct! The turn-around in 8th Armies morale is completely shocking. "Monty" gets no credit for anything.

  • I think they hype Montgomery way too much. Monty dared attack only when Rommel was absent, and he had enormous advantages at his disposal, in man, aircraft and material.

  • In the USA Montgomery is seen as more negative than anything. All you here about is how great Patton and Rommel were. I think Montgomery's quick turn-a-around of morale in the 8th Army is amazing.

  • Boost of morale he was, no question.

-But the idea that he(note "he") would win by feeding men and material more into the fray was not that innovative strategy.

-I could not help but feel sorry for his troopers, who really did the figting and dying, as he collected the fame and glory. And he was hungry for it too.

  • I think when it comes down to it the Allies won due to superior numbers and equipment. Thats sort of a simple Simon answer but think its correct. By 1945 Nazi German was at war with Earth. lol

  • The Allies had good commanders and tactics too. The Americans didn't won Bastogne or Leyte Gulf by superior numbers or superior weapons. More the opposite.

  • the amazing is that since since there was a double front and the Allies and Russians had advantage in numbers of 10:1, Germans still managed to keep the war for another year. This is a great achievement by the Germans and their defence tactics should be studied. If not for Hitler who was giving direct orders to his Generals, the war would be prolonged and even could finish a different way, a conditional surrender. The world would be different, the cold war could be different. Imagine that

  • so the confrontation between US and English generals still goes on ))
