snowball is so cool I love his videos. I love Kakadoos and parrots. I myself have gray parrots. I hope I can still see many videos of snowball. he is great. But what is the song by Stevie Nicks, I find the great song but I do not know the title. can someone tell me the title?
@KutWrite It is now Snowball (R). He is not trademarked as a bird, but products under his name have been trademarked. Many people wonder this same thing.
The way Snowball lifts his little feet while he's dancing reminds me of Mumble from Happy Feet when he gets his jig on xD Looks like you take good care of them... seems happy :)
Bollywood songs are songs that are done in movies from india. You could also look up Punjabi music as it has a strong beat. Am sure Snowball could become an indian dancing sensation.
I love his intelligence, his natural gifts and how he just totally immerses himself in the music. A couple of times it seems as if he is also innovative, with the way he holds and moves his head. Mozart would have loved him. Thanl you for taking such good care of him and letting him be himself Barrie
@BSJ387 Thank you, Barrie. He does completely enjoy himself when he's dancing, but he really loves the attention he receives when he dances too. He's very 'showy.' :D
@EmiouForever Cockatiels are very easy to take care of, cockatoos are not easy. They are extremely loud and can scream incessantly until they are hoarse, take a break, and then continue screaming again. They also are very destructive to furniture...they are like giant termites with feathers (no exaggeration). They also can become very moody, temperamental, and aggressive (bite hard) as they go through adolescence and reach adulthood.
haha cool little fella , he got some good moves too :) but whats more cool is that u can see him trying to think of new moves, i find that so cool when animals do that
@Vampireknightlvr1 Netting for the windows...keep the door closed or get a net door..?? It doesn't matter what you damage, the feathers or the actual wings, the bird is still not a happy one if it can't fly. Over here we usually make sure the house is safe for our pets as well, without having to make their lives miserable. You have a duty towards your pet to give it a good life, and that means not taking away its ability to move in the most natural way.
I honestly watched several of his videos and I'm dying laughing. He's just magnificent, I mean really awesome. I know most cockatoo are very musically inclined and seem to be nature's comedians (a reason I'd like one when I have the time/space/resources to fully care for him or her) but Snowball is really a spectacular find even as far as cockatoos go. You're a very lucky person to have someone like Snowball in your life.
@bo7meed1999 I'm so sorry to hear that your parrot died. If you feed your bird a good, balanced diet they will not need vitamins. A balance diet consists of a forumlated pellet diet, veggies, greens, fruits, nuts and grains, etc.
how would u feel locked up in cage... i got Hyacinth Macaws called fred ^^ when i got him i never bought a cage cuz he is free bird he can fly around my house when ever he likes...just think he got heart aswell like u do!
@MultiDantan Having a bird free in your home with supervision can work. However, when you have multiple birds (such as the number that are in our bird sanctuary) this is not possible. All birds do not get along well together. Some of the birds here have physical disabilities and they would be picked on and hurt by the birds without disabilities. Snowball is hot! Stevie can't touch THIS white winged bird. The only version of "Edge of Seventeen" that beats this one is by Dicey and Paprika. These ladies aren't fowl, but they sure do know how to squawk!
when he is swaying back and forth its keeping to the beat.. so awesome, when you actually think it about it, they probably get more of a rush from music then we do.. I bet they have heightened senses to the base and vibrations.
Wow! Snowball is talented...what a beauty! I was going to post the funny voice my sun conure makes when he sings along with Nicks but this one's so good (I put it in my favorites). Thanks for all you do for the birds with your rescue and sanctuary.
If dinosaurs had lived in the same time frame humans did, and they danced like this, they would most certainly have eaten a ton of giggling humans. Good job Snowball ;)
Have you introduced Snowball to the music of Kylie Minogue? Tunes like Speakerphone, Like a Drug, Come into my World, and Can't Get You Outta My Head(Boombox Remix) all have simple and catchy beats that Snowball can dance to.
@j3nnyj1ll The other birds not only enjoy watching him, but they begin dancing along with him too. Snowball will often times face the other birds when he dances. I'm not sure if he's being social by dancing "with" them or if he's just being a "show off." Or maybe it's a little of both. LOL
@bigbadbigfoot Although Snowball enjoys dancing "with a partner (me)", he does his best dancing when there are at least a few people watching him. He will pause once in a while to see who is watching and once he realizes that he still has everyone's attention, he will dance even more enthusiastically. He LOVES being the center of attention as do many cockatoos.
Would like to rock "Metal Gods" along with him. That guy would really fit in a leather jacket with nails! ;-) Long live Angus the Snowball Young! And keep a stiff, stiif upper lip, man!
He's one of the most adorable animals I've ever seen. I couldn't stop the massive grin that spilled onto my face when I first was shown this video! I'm a big animal lover/ and got into animal activism at 7, but THIS has got to be one of my favorite videos of any animal or human, ever. So much personality and spirit!! Rock on, Snowball!
@Pmagg5 That's a blue and gold macaw in the background. He came to us frightened to death of people (we have no idea what happened to him in the past to make him so frightened of humans). He became used to those of us that he saw on a daily basis, but whenever a new face came in...hysterical screaming all over again. Just a general plea to those watching these videos: PLEASE BE GENTLE AND KIND TO BIRDS (ALL ANIMALS) - please do not frighten or become angry with them.
@CrazyRabidPony I didn't know Stevie ever owned a bird. The bird that she posed with on one of her album covers was not hers...it belonged to her brother.
Album covers? It wasn't an album cover the tropical bird store owner had, it was a copy of the front of 'Rolling Stone' magazine. Well, the store owner got him from her. I'll be visiting him even though he lacerated my finger. He's a lonely bird and needs all the friends he can get.
omg that is one stunning bird, love Snowball. Love those tapping feet, he is loving every minute of it.... looks like the others want to join in......
@Kezco123 I would have to disagree. I had a HUGE scare. My CAG was perched on his cage and as I opened the door to get the mail a branch from my tree hit the front window and spooked him. Now I used to think that wing clipping was not necessary until that day. He shot out the door and flew off toward a busy street 3 blocks away from the house. THANK G-D he landed on someone's grass and was screaming for me (Mama, Mama) and he came home safe and sound. Clipping can save a life.
Wow - I mean this Snowball is right to the beat of the music - amazing! His foot action just cracked me up. He's full of himself for sure - very talented. I'm amazed he danced for 5 full minutes because that's a long tune.
@Tigerroux That's the one thing that always amazed us about Snowball. We've seen birds dance, but not always dance throughout an entire song. He will not only dance through an entire song, but he wants us to continue putting more tunes on so he can keep going.
He's adorable. So are his buddies in the background. Had to laugh, looking at the chair he's on. Looks a lot like the condition of the furniture in our bird room. Haha! Many people don't realize how smart and fun birds are. Great personalities! Snowball has STAR Quality! :D
do you know if you have to cut the wings of a parrot? i want to have one, but i want to learn it to fly and come back to me. is that possible you think?
@CleanPoison Yes, it is possible to teach a bird to fly around and come back to you. I am not a bird trainer, so I would not be able to give you any tips on how to do that. But there are plenty of You Tube videos out there that show birds flying around outside and returning to their owners, but they may have trained the bird indoors first.
@CleanPoison You should never cut the wings if you want a parrot that's actually sane and close to normal...clipping the wings is like tying a person to a chair to stop them from moving in a natural way. My pionuses both fly and neither is handfed, so we don't have any problems that stem from anxiety or stress.I've taught them to fly to me (among other places) indoors, using treats, patience and positive reinforcement.Barbara Heidenreich is the expert so look up some of her vids! :)
@CleanPoison My hand-raised PF lovebird had the run of the house. He would even go outside with me while I gardened and would stay right with me. I don't recommend this for others, however. You really have to know your bird. His mate, I couldn't trust to do that with. She was allowed the run inside, but not outside. I'm with CleanPoison on the clipping issue. Cover your fish tanks! LOL!
Hi Birdloversonly-- I wrote you last year and you gave me a lengthy answer -- Thank you. Now more questions: I'd love to know more about the research Snowball is involved in -- to do with parrots and music, believe. Is there anything yet published? Also, are the researchers collaborating with Irene Pepperberg and her research at all? I know her greys love music too, though it seems to me that no species is quite as creative about dancing as the cockatoos -- would you agree with that?
@jtubelie Dr Pepperberg is involved in African Grey research. I am collaborating with the Neurosciences Institute in California and they do not collaborate with Irene Pepperberg as she has projects of her own. Cockatoos seem to be the best and most creative dancers. The African Greys make much better talkers than dancers.
@BirdLoversOnly : Shortly before Dr. Pepperberg's star pupil Alex (the African Grey) died, she had begun a collaborative research endeavor regarding his responses to music (recounted in her wonderful book "Alex and Me") -- this is why I was wondering whether there was any cross pollination between her work with greys and the work with Snowball. But about the work with snowball -- I was wondering if there is anything yet out that I can read about it. Thank you!
@jtubelie Yes, there was a write-up in Current Biology (a science journal). I could email a copy of this to you if you let me know what your email address is. You can message me privately with your email address.
Both Frostie and Snowball have my vote as do both of their owners who demonstrate what incredible creatures Cockatoos can be with proper love, respect, training and care! Love them both, and love my own three!

They take turns coming out and keen supervision is needed with the disabled birds.

This is truly wonderful. When I had Esma the Rook she would Curl her toe in time with the music I had on. And she was a wild bird.

do you know if you have to cut the wings of a parrot? i want to have one, but i want to learn it to fly and come back to me. is that possible you think?
CleanPoison 1 year ago
@CleanPoison Yes, it is possible to teach a bird to fly around and come back to you. I am not a bird trainer, so I would not be able to give you any tips on how to do that. But there are plenty of You Tube videos out there that show birds flying around outside and returning to their owners, but they may have trained the bird indoors first.

@CleanPoison i have a suggestion normally you would have to get a professional to train them
dediceted 1 year ago

I know her greys love music too, though it seems to me that no species is quite as creative about dancing as the cockatoos -- would you agree with that?
jtubelie 1 year ago

Thank you!
jtubelie 1 year ago
@jtubelie Yes, there was a write-up in Current Biology (a science journal). I could email a copy of this to you if you let me know what your email address is. You can message me privately with your email address.

Both Frostie and Snowball have my vote as do both of their owners who demonstrate what incredible creatures Cockatoos can be with proper love, respect, training and care! Love them both, and love my own three!
