  • I dearly love Amy, but I simply have to correct the man who is giving the history on this song. The solo was played by James Moody, however the lyrics were written by Eddie Jefferson. King pleasure did NOT write the lyrics, although he made it famous. Eddie Jefferson wrote several more vocalese type songs and I believe that he should get the credit due for this beautiful piece.

  • It's worth mentioning that 'Moody's Mood for Love' is based on the chord sequence of 'I'm in the Mood for Love', a 1935 tune by Jimmy McHugh, with lyrics by Dorothy Fields. In 1949, saxophonist James Moody improvised around it and, in 1952, Eddie Jefferson wrote new lyrics, used by King Pleasure who recorded it in 1954. King Pleasure did NOT write the words, as is commonly supposed.

  • Amazing

  • We had the best fun and laughs when we grew up together then you became famous and evil people crowd your door constantly stealing your money and soul.

I love you always Amy !!!

From your old friend April xxoxoxoxoxoxooxxoxx

God bless you my sweetest friend.

  • @GigglingGirI Yes, it's a tragedy when success becomes the undoing of you. When she sang for NYJO, she was a happy and talented jazz singer, I suspect always her first love.

  • I Miss you AMY :(

  • song

  • she athletically dominates the sohg

  • Another great performance by the wonderful Amy Winehouse.....You know,I really could do without that synthetic percussion on beats 2 and 4. Probably someones attempt to make it sound more contemporary. Just gets in the way and dumbs it down IMHO...RIP Amy. You are gone too soon, but leave behind many fans and believers...

  • great

  • He's wrong... Pleasure didn't write the lyrics... Eddie Jefferson did. If you like the song, check them both out!

  • She is so pretty when she doesn't have the fucking tan.

  • Incredibly hard song to sing, well done Amy

  • muy bm video

  • Wow awesome really digging this! :)

Take a listen to my version of Adele's rolling in the deep on my page? Promise you won't be disappointed either! x]

  • Oh dear woman why? such a voice such a loss. If only you had it in you to fight the demon, This battle has been won by countless people. I know it is too late for you dear but maybe someone reading this will take heart and fight the good fight we age upon ourselves. Addiction is overcome with Love

  • @Mountchoirboy

She died because of Alcohol withdrawal not because she was on Alcohol. She tried to fight it, but her body gave way because of her intense craving. Alas, she was one of the greatest singers of our modern day and age.

  • @alfga17 Well one must drink in order to suffer withdrawal. Alcohol withdrawal is deadly in case's as is benzodiazapine and barbituate withdrawal. Seizures occur that lead to death in some DT's was a name applied to it or delerium tremons. Craving is an emotional response to alcohol that is common to alcoholics ( I am sober 25 years) The craving itself does no damage unless on yields to it's deadly allure. As I wrote, I pray her death helps someone to avoid this path or get off path

  • @baggenkents ASSHOLE,Oh sorry,lame,dumb HEARTLESS..ASSHOLE!

THERE WE CAN FIND A GOOD PLACE TO KEEP A LOVIN' STATE OF MIND. I'M SO TIRED OF BEING WITHOUT IT. AND NEVER KNEW WHAT LOVE WAS ALL ABOUT. YOU CAN BLOW NOW IF YOU WANT TO, I'M THROUGH.

  • Amy Winehouse's rendition of Moody's Mood For Love AKA I'm In The For Love (1949). Music by James Moody and lyrics by Eddie Jefferson and given a mass-market appeal by King Pleasure in 1952. Moody's Mood became one the most popular Jazz vocal of the 20th century

  • Jamaican Ska, mento and Calypso singer, Lord Tanamo did a cover version circa 1963-5 called "I'm In The Mood For Ska". This is the pick of the versions that Amy Winehouse sang on this track.

  • Listen to the riddim (Rhythm) section, a combination of Reggae with a touch of one note ska rhythmic of Lord Tanamo's Ska version. No other female singer has ever done such a rhythmic intermix of Jazz, R&B, Soul, Ska and Reggae. The roots of black music in today's 21th century musical sphere.

  • Amy was amazing! It's unfortunate that the gent in this video didn't have his facts straight. The song was put to lyrics by Eddie Jefferson and made popular when it was recorded by King Pleasure. Regardless, Amy will be sadly missed.

  • RIP.....My Little Darling You Are As My Daughter and Singing My Favoirite Song (Moody's Mood) Makes Me So Proud Of You.....I Fantasize I Am Your Mother to Protect You Now I Only Can Pray for Your Soul - My Little Sweet Song Bird - BYEeeeee….I Will Always Love You as a Mother Would Her Daughter…I Will See You On The Other Side - Love Forever - Carol ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • If you have nothing to say don't say anything at all. Amy Winehouse was an amazing artist despite her troubled personal life. We all have bad days and we all have demons but unfortunately her bad days lasted longer than most. We need to separte her personal life from her captivating talent and move on. I don't think it's fair that people are making nasty comments about her giving that everything they know is what is portrayed in the media. R.I.P babes.. I will miss you..

  • Brilliant! Amy will be missed. --- A piece of information about this song: the song is not merely from James Moody's solo - other musicians were involved too. For example the part "What is all this talk about loving me, my sweet?

I am not afraid, not anymore, not like before..." is Thore Swanerud's piano solo.

  • most brilliant cover ever >_<

  • You will truly be missed God bless your soul
