  • to doomdog..i have a kid that tells me that same thing.

  • To,,,,,,Tony for always remembering.

  • This song gives me goosebumps

  • Such an incredible gift to the world. If one must regret anything, it is that those who are born a generation or two later and have never been exposed to this quality of high class music are truly missing out on gold for the soul. Then again, our parents, and grandparents also had gifted artists whose work broke away from the pack and helped define those generations in their lifetimes as well.Taking the time to explore such hits can be quite delightful and help to understand ones own relations!

  • Saw them in concert at Universit of Massachusets in Amherst first year out of the Army.

  • What else is there to say, one of the most iconic performances of one of the greatest songs of all times. It will not be repeated or equaled, and stands as a testament as to the real talent that dwarfs the so called 'stars' of today.

  • It's one of those songs that you don't wont to end, special.

  • @Lesh1170 Back then I sure didn't want it to end, sighhh.

  • Yes agree Art say very natter of factly "this is one of our new songs", when in fact it must be one of the greatest melodic tunes orf the modern era.

  • This is a one of a kind song that breaks you open and warms your soul.

  • It always amuses me when I see some autotuned hip-hop pop song talking about bitches and hoes and seeing people say, "how can you dislike this?" Gee, I wonder. But seriously, HOW CAN YOU DISLIKE THIS?!? Art Garfunkel's voice in this live version is probably more beautiful and ethereal than in the studio single. No one will ever be able to sing this song like Art did here, no matter what technology they use.

  • to hear Art say, "this is one of our new songs". Love it, wish i was born 20 years earlier than i was.

  • sad song tears in ur eyes love it moreeeeeeeeeeee

  • Love it

  • Once again, I am blown away and moved to tears by this man's incredible voice.

  • Very amazing how this will be the first time and the last time there will be no cheering when the song starts. Just imagine being in the audience hearing this for the first time in the world. No one else except the artists know what will come. I only wish I could have been there to see this spectacle. And just listen to the roaring of the crowd at the end, they knew this song was the definition of beauty.

  • 9963=water

    138=trouble water

  • Geweldig nummer met een mooie boodschap, het ontroerd me elke keer weer.

  • Played at my Grandads funeral, RIP Big man, thinking of you <3

  • This was playing on my 3rd landing in Vietnam

  • @rbreton59 I'd like to know more what was going through your mind. Thanks, for serving the constitution. Wish I could be proud now :(

  • @rbreton59 I was in 3rd grade and fell in love with this song. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this song. Powerful song huh?

  • Song releases many thoughts! Good when you have a major confusion in your life, this song will uplift you. Smile. We all have bridges in our life, and we seem to make it across.

  • Same here i have been too busy with life i haven't listen to music in a while. So glad ive rediscovered some of fine tunes :)

  • Always makes me cry. what a lovely song x

  • @IBERNO1 Me, too. Sheesh, I've been so busy, so distracted. I haven't listened to music in ages. Not ANY music. Not even Christmas songs. Wow, this really hit me hard. I had all their albums. Don't even remember where they went. So many years ago...

  • marameva q cancion tan buena tan vieja q la catapum

  • Quiénes cantan ahora que podamos recordarlos después? Dénme nombre, por favor.

Who can sing now that we can remember them later? Give names, please.

  • get a room

  • @thedoomdog Your reply made me grin even more. I bet you haven't even heard of my bands, so I won't argue anymore. I love 60ties music alot, I have a Vinyl player - I still spend money on their records. But I also buy new work, and try not to get stuck in the past.

  • A masterpiece!

  • Mosty přes rozbouřené řeky-nádhera,to nejkrásnější,co ti dva kdy nazpívali.

  • this song is for all of us that have been down or helped someone that was there

if it pulls a tear you know the deal

  • I'm 17 years old, and I feel like I dont belong in my generation.....our "Pop" music is nothing compared to these visionary musicains and the beautiful songs they wrote.

  • @thedoomdog when I was your age this was still regarded as shit..... despite being brilliant But we had the stone roses, happy mondays, new order etc. There's nothing today,

  • @thedoomdog Do you really think they didn't have popular garbage in their time? I can clearly see you are young as you are as narrow-minded as the people who listen to garbage. This is age full of decent music. Try Listener, Danger Mouse, Massive Attack, Copenhagen, Crippled Black Phoenix, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Doves, Eels, Ludovico Einaudi, Ryan Adams, Tom Mcrae, Kashmir, Toe, Wild Beasts, Youth Lagoon and several hundreds more in all different genres. Explore the world!

  • @simonnetje Im not saying that we dont have good music today. I am saying that what we have today im MY opinion does not compair to the greats back in the day. Bob Dylan, Rush, The Beatles, Janis joplin, ect. Now you can listen to the music you prefer and I will listen to mine. No need to be an egotistical prick running around calling people narrow minded just because they do not share your taste in music. Thats being narrow minded..

  • @thedoomdog First of all, its being a selfish prick. Second of all, that insult doesn't make sense as there is nothing selfish about my comment. Third of all, you haven't responded to the fact that I said you don't know the bands I listed, so you cannot say you don't like them, or you like the beatles more. That even strenghtens my arguement that you are narrow-minded and you do not try out new stuff. Get out of your white tower and google some of it. Then you can come and arguetaste

  • @simonnetje No egotistical is right. You think you are right and I am not..That being Egotistical not selfish

  • Arrogant, selfish, it all doesn't make sense. You still have ignored my whole comment and keep coming back with nothing. I'm out of this discussion, so long.

  • @thedoomdog Hi, you are right I am 48 ( i cant believe) but it happens. Music like S&G will never come again. Beware in your heart the feeling for music like that!!!!

  • @thedoomdog i feel the same way !

  • @thedoomdog I feel exactly the same thing.. Though, I believe, instead of seeing this as a negative thing, we should embrace it, as we will bring this music with us into the future, and keep it alive :)

  • @thedoomdog Maybe you do don't belong.

  • Sorry, sometimes I can't spell worth a damn! Simon and Garfunkel.......

  • When listening to the overwhelming response at the end it is best to remember the vast majority of the audience had never heard the song before. We now know it as one of the most covered songs ever BUT NEVER equaled.

  • Simon are Farfunkel are doing their best work on this song. The song seems to fit us all! My question is? Is there any other kind but "troubled water"?

Thanks for posting it for the beauty.

  • @MrCarepackage

    Its Gimon and Sarfunkel btw.

  • Reminds me fishing at Big Gap Lake near Shiprock Peak in Northwest New Mexico. I can still hear the waves against the shore, listening to this song on a small portable radio, in the early 70's.

  • I have this track on vinyl... Beautyful track ...

  • For Alison.

  • "One of our new song"... (:

    That made me smile.

  • @Jullyii I know what you mean :)

  • One of the most amazing vocals in the history of music. Not to mention one of the greatest songs- so uplifting. God did not put us on this planet alone!! This vocal and Wayne Newton singing Danny boy-It does not get any better than that!!!!

  • অসাধারণ! Love from Bangladesh!!

  • いいよ!from japan

  • I have never heard this specific version of the song. Thanks for sharing! This song has been with me since I was born (It was the number 1 song in the nation the day I was born ;)

  • How can someone really dislike this song? Excellent piece of work. Such a powerful voice.

  • How I love thee S&G I have no words 4 what joys they have bought me. Seeing them live will be 1 of the best nights of my life! Even in their 60's 70's the boys were AWSOME

  • Richard Simmons is the bridge over troubled water

  • The bridge over troubled water is a bridge over troubled water. Bazinga.

  • Christ is the Bridge over troubled waters :). He laid himself down. Hes there right behind you in all the pain and anguish :). Christ is that Bridge over troubled water that will always be there for you. What an awesome song by Simon and Garfunkle love it. This music is awesome and im only 20 years old.

  • Faultless, bar deemed aged and catagorized such. For now.

But history undoes that, given enough time.

  • @naganokumas word perfect x

  • This song is about hope and finding that one person that is your anchor!

  • this song is about taking drugs( shabu). The Bridge is the foil over the Troubled water which is the fire of the lighter. Some people finds comfort on it when they are down, feeling small, depressed, weary believing that its shabu is a friend who can ease their mind. Very sad meaning but nice song to hear. (Dennis)

  • NOOOOO I DISLIKED IT!!!! AAAGH

D': i am not worthy! i am not worthy! i am not worthy!

for the record, there should only be 134 dislikes right now! well, there shouldn't be any, but as long as there are any, you can subtract mine from it!!!

  • @bigworldsmallperson Ahahaha, your comment was the best xD

  • 오래전 노래지만 좋아요 옛날생각도나고

  • Does anyone know who's playing the piano?

  • @mrgmusicmadman The late, great Larry Knechtel.

  • Dedicate this to all the Occupiers in Occupy movements everywhere; and today, for those in NYC over that Brooklyn Bridge. Love. Solidarity. Support.

  • Did they ever produce a song that wasnt an A+? Sometimes I wish I had been born about 30 years before

  • A very inspiring song, I'd like to dedicate this heavenly masterpiece to my only daughter, Yuri. Be strong my child. I'll always be with you at heart. あいしてるよ!

  • I've been thinking over the past few weeks, and I still can't find one single reason why someone would dislike this

  • 134 people disliking this is an insult.

  • Benjamas simngam เท่านั้น

  • Best number of the sixties!

  • Wonderful stillness musicians that seem to spread humaness give freely expansive they gave to each personally and to everyone great

  • @Skiiar and Bob Dylan, Elvis presley, Nat K. Cole, Ray charles, Rolling Stones, etc., right???

  • @Skiiar, So true m8 this is exactly what my parents did they have shown me true music and the kind of music that shows love and effort

  • I think the song writer in the past puts a lot more heart in there song today's artist they just looking for the right beat no heart..

  • Stop squabbling below, your ruining the video, gosh!!!!

  • For anyone who actually thinks the singer songwriter, and poets are gone; just start looking beyond mainstream, the folk and independent music scene is alive and thriving. You have to try the college and alternative radio, you have to separate yourself from the constant barrage of top 40. Go to festivals see musicians live, stop to hear buskers on the street. There's a wonderful world of beautiful poetry that sinks much deeper than a pop tarts morals

  • @BacklitFilm these guys were pretty mainstream

  • @Imbetterthanmost That was in the days mainstream actually was good. Today, mainstream isn't. So we have to look on different places, since we won't find good music on TV or popular radio stations. Capiche? :D

  • @BacklitFilm Nice man.

  • i guess i just don't understand how someone can dislike this

  • I'm usually the guy who complains about people leaving "the dislikes are people who blah blah blah" comments, but in this case I am honestly pretty sure that the few dislikes this video has are from teenagers watching American Idol back in the day who searched for "that song that Clay 'totally not gay' Aiken" sang, and found this masterpiece and tragically thought it was a cover or some shit.

  • @AlabamaIceman It's a shame that most people my age have very little appreciation for the musical genius of one of my personal favorites.

  • @ladyoftoomanywords Its true we teens today have very very narrow taste in music, most of the people I know claim a song "sucks" after about 2-4 weeks of playing time, so this is so far out of their league they can't even start to comprehend. They're simply incapable of appreciating this because their incapable of giving it a try, claiming it's 'old music,' they conform to the society's rules of enjoyment, if your friends say that a song is good because their friends say it's good, you agree.15y

  • yes!

no computer percussion, no playback, no naked hoes, no untalented pushed youngsters.

    just pure and honest music!

  • This is absolutely beautiful. And I can't put it any more simply than that.

  • I cried xx

  • This was one of my 1st albums Jefferson Airplane & Simon & Garfunkle.

  • @imkrissy You and John take heart. I had a bone marrow trasplant in 1990 and i'm still hear and kicking though i was diagnosed with a different cancer last year. You two have been through a lot and i really do wish you nothing but better times ahead.

  • @xphantomx2x you can re like it, refresh the page :)

  • This comment is going to piss many of you off, but... The best version of this song is the one thats playing at any particular moment... Listen to any of the ones listed, Elvis, Cash, Nelson, Flack.... This song can pull the soul out of any performer that is able sing it. I wish I could...Gonna listen to Aretha now...

  • The repetitive walls of texts in comments indicate a flame war of which I want no part. Its a good song just listen to it, if you disagree, go listen to something else?

  • @42867Goat Well said.

  • Sin duda,,la mejor música que he escuchado

  • i love this song.... sooo much

  • The epitomy of Spiritual music! Touching, simple, and brilliant!!!

  • I was around 11 years old when i first heard this song. I've always been moved by the feeling this song invokes. I hear love, faithfull devotion, and hope in this amazing song. Thanks for posting!

  • I dedicated this song to my husband, John, a few years ago, when he had three blood cancers (NHL, MDS and AML -- leukemia). He had a bone marrow transplant and almost passed away so many times. This is the song that I chose to play for him when he got down or didn't know if he would pull through. Although he still has a lot of complications bc of the bmt (only 1/3 kidney function) he's in remission from all 3 cancers! But his health is still fragile. So this is the song I still play for him.

  • the boxer foi a primeira musica deles que eu ouvi e me apaixonei, depois el condor pasa, mister robinsom, the song of silense e muitas outras que me fizeram apaixonar por esses genios da musica. as musicas de agora estão abafando as nossas reliquias do passado, mas eu resistirei e jamais apagarei estes talentos maravilhozos que se imortalizaram em muitas mentes.

  • This is true music, and true talent. Name me ONE artist from today's generation that can write music as good as this.

  • If you still don`t have iPhone 5 get it now: goo.gl\k55ge

  • Out of sight I mean

  • I'm 16 too man and I LOVE the old stuff. Fuck new stuff I mean if you like it you like it. But keep it out of s

  • I love old songs even though I'm still 16. They were the real deal. Great voice (not studio edited) But I thought this song was too old for me, but i like the chorus before and only that. Now that I really heard it (i did heard it before but some drunk man sang it) i was .......... BOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!! explosion.WWOOOOWWW

  • Just about every musical genre site I've come to has some moronic reference to Justin Beiber or Lady Gaga! I realize they are the "NOW" thing, but really, maybe they can hold a note or two, but will never achieve this level of artistry. No matter how much exposure they receive, THEY are still PRODUCTS of the music industry. Groomed to fit the largest demographics. Musicians of the past had something to convey in their music and it showed.

  • @amusingmyslf Good music is still being made today, just don't look for it on the mainstream radio. And how can you even compare Simon & Garfunkel to Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga?

  • @spinnach I'm not comparing at all, just taking note of how many references are made to that effect. The currant Pop culture can not compare. You're right about not finding good music on mainstream radio though! :)

  • @amusingmyslf the scariest thing today( besides our economy) is the fact that morons, rappers, untalented, half nude 'singers' control the music department.

  • @possumonu2 Too true..pretty sad.

  • Comment removed

  • @amusingmyslf They are not products of the music industry. They are products of what people buy into. And record labels can find an oasis of talent in someone ... but if he/she/they don't sell, record companies can do little. Except encourage them to wear less clothes and talk about sex. Because sex always sells ... but only because people buy into it. So you see it's not the record companies to blame. It's the consumers of sex and simplicity.

  • @TheOriginalMrGreen In a way I agree, but are what people buy into, the result of being told what to like. In the sixties and seventies most folk rock performers sold by their talent, very few sold it with sex. The whole idea of selling with sex snowballed after the seventies.IMO.

  • @amusingmyslf

Modern music is created and tailored to the masses for 1 reason---to make money. Since this is true one can conclude that society is either getting dumber or less in tune with what good music really is because the majority of modern music is talentless. I mean, seriously, most singers cant even sing at all and have to use autotune to keep their voice on the correct pitch. I'll give Gaga credit though, beyond her eccentricity she does have vocals and can play instruments.......

  • @MrElmeromero80 ..I have to laugh tho, I'm sure the last generation thought the same thing about my gen.!! lol, Where will it end!??!!

  • @amusingmyslf --Music is one of those magic things left in the world--It doesn.t end- it just get better---It cries with us, laughs with us and celebrates the highpoint of our lives!

  • @amusingmyslf

take your philosophy and your wife and go to the morgue because you both deserve death

  • @daberr2 ..What for? Not liking the current genre of music, or for liking the music of the past more? 411...I dont have a wife, I AM a woman , and the last time I checked, everyone deserves an opinion, and I would never wish death on someone just because their opinion is different.

  • I have had a live version of this song on an album of mine for years, but it is different somehow. THIS version made me cry again, like I did the first few times I heard the song decades ago.

  • second only to the boxer .....

  • such a shame they hated each other so much that they entered the stage from opposite sides - beautifull song

  • @TheBanj4010 Funny how can you see that here... Paul said he wrote this song for Garfunkel to sing, he even wrote the last verse the way Garfunkel asked. They were best friends since 11 and just got tired of the life. They grow up and grow apart. Garfunkel became an arquitet I think and was a little more intelectual, Paul wanted to explore music and ritmics all over the world, obscure and anusual...

  • @multical100 -- Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel did not "get tired of the life." They split in 1970 over "artistic differences." By the way, they have gotten back together every decade to perform since the 70s, selling out to huge crowds. Garfunkel did NOT go on to become an ARCHITECT after their split in 1970, he went on to become an ACTOR -- and also released singles and albums of his own songs. Simon, of course, continued his singing career, going on to release many hit singles and albums.

  • @imkrissy Sorry , architect. English is noy my first language or second. I don't see how what you say contradicts what I said about them geting tired of the life; and no it's was not architeture , but mathematics he studied. He went to university throughout his musical carrer with Paul Simon, and was even a teacher for a while.

  • @TheBanj4010 Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel did not "hate each other." If you research, you will find that they were having "artistic differences" during the time that "Bridge Over Troubled Water" was being recorded. They each wanted a different song for the 12th track. They did eventually split up, but have gotten back together every decade to play in concert, since their split in 1970.

  • My theater teacher would lways play this when we were rehearsing a more romantic/slowmotion scene. That guy taught my mother when she was my age and he is retiring this year. We love you Fausto!

  • by found I mean fond.. ;)

  • 21 Years of Age, and absolutely LOVE Simon and Garfunkel.. This is MUSIC!! Not that shit you hear now adays, "YO YO YO CAP A HOE YO YO" (Garbage) Let REAL MUSIC live on forever! S&G has always brought back found memories, of when days didn't seem nearly as long, or nearly as stressful at times.. S&G till the day I drop.

  • Grandpa's favorite song, made me love it too
