I saw this at the Film Forum a few years ago. There's a scene where one of the guys
threatens "Keep your shirt on." and before he can finish his line, she jumps back with "I won't!" I used that exchange to close my song "Quotations from a Silent Star".
Clara Bow's final films were all box-office flops, and Louise Brooks was brutally punished when she returned to the U.S. after having "snubbed" Hollywood!!!
That's so sad! I still cannot see why they thought she had a "Brooklyn" accent. For me her voice is normal. We see many actresses of today, with much worse voices
CLARA was soo young here no one in this day would or could disappear like she did and never return to anything except the radio show she did for charity..she was gaining weight as this film was shot , she was injured in the scene where they robbed the Carnival, an extra knocked her down and she fell off the platform on her face...I got that from Rex Bell jr..
I dont get why her voice was considered so bad??? I mean maybe for standards back then. But today compared to people of today she has the voice of an angel.
I like your vide clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on a set of 1920's movie star cards: Marion Davies, Fay Wray,Clara Bow, Greta Garbo,Louise Brooks and many more.
I so agree. The tragedy is that this was her FINAL movie. She seems so young, so vital. She was in her mid-20s and would seem like a star on the rise by today's still youth crazed standards. Much as people praise Louise Brooks, Clara was much more of a star and an actress.

I think she found out that she hated stardom, as did Louise Brooks.
