I like that this gives you something to do with the seams and bits that wouldn't be useful in, say, a braided rug or blue jean quilt. You could recycle a lot of jeans this way, and have a durable and coordinated look to the whole room.
This is an interesting project, but when you consider the amount of work required to complete it, and the fact that it lacks a non-skid backing, it is not worth the effort. You might as well buy a rug for $10 at Walmart.
This is an excellent project. I wasted no time re-sharing this video on Google+. I can see myself investing in a sewing machine to work on a project like this.
