@vikas1vikas2 Hey vikas that is a dreadful thing to say and you are welcome to never come to my YouTube page again. This is a wild being of nature acting as it was created to. Every wild animal on this planet would "try to eat a baby if it gets a chance", that's why we have to be smart when encountering predators in their environment. The intersection between people and wild animals is the whole point of my work.
@XxThatOneKidxX yeah OK guy. There are so many videos of captive and rescue birds, so I put "Wild" in the name of my videos so when people are searching they can see that my eagles are not in a sanctuary. Once they see the video of course they know its a wild bird, the point is to get them to click on my videos in the first place.
Just another of the batrillion annoyance factors when dealing with Google analytics.
@XxThatOneKidxX You have some serious issues if the title of youtube video annoys you. Dont you have anything more important to worry about? And before you ask...why am I commenting on your lame comment, don't I have anything better to do???.....not right now, Im sitting in the Airport waitng for my flight...so nope, nothing better to do right now.
Should--uh...should I step on it? Yeah...wait no. But...er..no....
Ah, dammit! *looks up and around*
I should bite it...yeah...ah wait I should probably squish it first. Here goes nothing! *jumps back from mid step with wings fluttering* Aw, crap, NO! You know what? I'm just gonna pick your legs off with my mouth and make you bleed to death. I can't do the squish thing. :D
@KetaVancouver Mmhmm. BTW I have a new playthrough series with hilarious commentary. Visit my channel for part 1 and 2! Part 3 and 4 are coming tomorrow!
i'v never seen a wild bald eagle, or any bald eagle, in my life (i'm 19.) well, a few days ago, something swooped past my car while i was driving and i hit the brakes, almost hitting it. i then realized it was an adult bald eagle, and it even flew next to my car for a few seconds, didn't attempt to attack even though the windows were down. it then flew up high and away. IT WAS AWESOME!!
@Justins1877 its at Spanish Banks West, way west. Almost out from the point at UBC, as far out as you can walk to the channel in English Bay actually.
Anyone who's ever eaten crab legs knows how hard it is to get through the shell. Restaurants typically give you these crushing tools or hammers. This eagle downs it like eating a cracker. Shows you how powerful that beak is.
i liked how the eagle kept putting his foot over the crab then it backed up then it must have thought maybe..... no again and just kept putting its foot over it then backing it up lol
This eagle is allowed to scavange in plain sight of the dominant seagulls as a form of parlay, I feel. The eagle is very vulnerable to being swarmed by seagulls because it is grounded. The wind acts as admission for these great eagles, but it is only a parlay gesture by the seagulls which allow these eagles to scavange in their area. Thank you for posting.
@ToxicOdiousOne because it's too much work! eagles are lazy. They do eat seagulls, I have that in a couple of other videos, but the defenseless crab is an easier meal in this case.
Hey Brian, this is at the furthest point of Spanish Banks beach. The sand bar is usually under 20m of water (if you see the posts in any of my videos, they mark the channel of English Bay for shipping, and are usually completely under water!) In summer the tide gets low and the tidal flats get exposed.
Thanks hulabird! more to come, I can promise you that.

Looks like the crab had a bad twist of luck and got caught while he was vulnerable and flipped over.
That or another bird tried to eat it but gave up when it couldnt figure out how to pry off its flailing legs without getting cut.

yeah totally . . but once s/he has it firmly held down just starts ruthlessly ripping those legs off!

Wonderful video! The eagle seemed a little hesitant at first: probably didn't want a crab claw grabbing his foot. Can't blame him. :)
