  • Sweet Jesus !

I haven't heard this since I was 9 years old. I'd listen to those compilation CD sets my mom would buy off infomercials. Tome to look up Johnny b. good and Chantilly lace. Ha!

Family Guy would've ruined surfin bird if I didn't already associate it with E.T.

  • @ Shanghaijill Hey Shanghaijill, I just heard that Tommy Ardolino died. Like, yesterday. Tragic news. What was he like in high school? Was that in Springfield?

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP. NO ONE GIVES A FUCK HOW OLD YOU ARE. LET THIS MUSIC EXIST AS GOOD MUSIC AND NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST.

  • @abbazabbajuice I am 40 years old. I first heard this song when I was about 5.

  • the rambones give me a break this is the best the rest who say nay are gay

  • This song was also covered by the great NRBQ.

  • @dubiousraves

I went to high school with Tom Ardolino.

    Just sayin'

  • X-men First Class!

  • I prefer the Ramones cover to be honest, but still a great song!

  • Believe it or not this song was written by Chuck Barris. Yes the same guy who did the Gong show, and the Dating Game, and the Newlywed Game, and the main character in Confessions of a dangerous mind.

  • @jaytf1231 X-C.I.A. Agent

  • confessions of a dangerous mind.

  • I still think the Ramones version is better :)

  • I would also recommend watching the happy organ by dave cortez. :)

  • Fabulous, they just don't do stuff like this anymore. And he looks like he's really enjoying it.

  • what brought me here was the Ramones

  • you can just look at this guy and tell he is a stand up decent guy....just the body language and looks i bet he would be fun to hang out with

  • I was born the year this song came out. Love it! Look up Brian Busch's version on accordian out of Dallas. Well done as well!

  • Very old early 60s classic . Very sadden that this song is about an old amusement park that died .

  • There was an amusement park called POP ( Pacific Ocean Park ) in Santa Monica Ca. at the tip of the ocean in the 60's, when this song was out. The song blended in so well w the atmosphere. I wish I could go into the Twilight Zone and re-live it. Thanks Freddy, for your contribution. Your fan.

  • Im 62 yrs old and was right in the middlle of all this great music. I wouldn't change for anything. What I really like is when someone at 14 and 16 say there lisning to this. Its like me really likeing music back in the 30's and 40's.

  • Was This From American Bandstand?

  • I bet the girl at 1:15 minutes of this tape never realized that one day she would be seen by thousands of viewers on computers. Does anyone recognize her? Be interesting to know who she was and where she came from.

  • Written by Chuck "Gong Show" Barris

  • Sound effects as well! They really knew how to make them in 1959!

  • x men hellfire club brought me here

  • They play this at work all the time...

  • I'm 14 and I listen to this....

  • @Argo6x6and8x8RULE im turnin 16 n im lisnin to this

  • CCOOOOOOLLLLLLLL

  • Calabrese's shortsighted greed has continued to this day. The only park left in Cliffside is half monopolized by the leasing center for a condo that was never built. Also, an urban revitalization project failed, leaving a 2-block vacant pit in the middle of downtown. They blasted away the Palisades cliffs themselves. For, you guessed it, condos. Thomas Wolfe wrote "You can't go home again." Cliffside natives literally cannot go home again. It's not there. RIP CP

  • Very strange song to hear after finishing Chuck Barris' book.

  • I went there with my dad in 1954. Everytime I hear this I think of him. Love you dad.

  • the guy who owned palisades park BURNED IT DOWN TO GET THE INSURANCE MONEY AND WENT TO JAIL

  • like beatles i like so much......best song (X MEN FIRST CLASS)

  • We were the band for one night for Fred back in the late sixties...had to learn 6 of his songs in two hours...we were just kids...he was quite the jerk!!

  • you own the copyright?

  • I remember Palisades Park from my schoolkid days. There were coupons on the back of Superman DC comics for rides at PP. Many years later, in the mid 1980s, I worked with someone who lived in a high rise that stood on the Park's grounds. Standing out on his balcony, I could still hear the roller coaster and the screams!

  • Brings back childhood memories.

  • it´s just amazing.

  • 50 some years later and this song STILL rocks! Saw Freddie at an oldies show in 1993 in Denver. Among the 4 acts, Freddie's was the strongest set by far.

  • great stuff..thanks for posting

  • X-Men first Class - hellfire club. im 15 years old and this song is much better than any modern songs.

  • @daftpunkforeternity and I thought that people like me with good taste didn't exist. I'm 17.

  • @daftpunkforeternity do yourself a favor and never follow billboards or top 10.. and dig your eyes out and shove pencils in your ear if you ever are to watch a music award thing. youll develop much better taste not going with the shit corporate conglomarte shitstinkfest of filth they call 'music' on the charts. also... look into NiN and stay far far away from new school... anything

  • @daftpunkforeternity

Wait 'til you hear what the Ramones did with this. ;)

  • @daftpunkforeternity Well DUH !

  • @daftpunkforeternity You are so right! Why did this style of music have to get replaced by shitty music?

  • I was born in the 80's, but I've always loved old music like this. I heard this on our oldies station when I was...oh, maybe twelve. And I've loved it ever since. Amazing song!

  • @Reycied Same here. Born 1988 and grew up with the oldies. Thanks a million to my uncle Harv (may he rest in peace) and my old man for playing the greats!!!

  • Chuck Barris from the Gong SHow Wrote this SOng

  • I just LOVE your tie!

  • The original Rick Roll!!!!!!

  • @biga5150 Why is it?

  • i love the way Carl wilson sang this on ' 15 big Ones" in 1976

  • I can taste the cotton candy now. Only pink in the sixties, now there is even blue cotton candy. Every color of the rainbow and each color tastes just like it should -- example given -- blue tastes BLUE!

  • This song is terriffic, the power and intensity, almost as if it were shot out of a CANNON!! haha....

  • Please insert of between instead and until in my previous comment.

  • You wonder why Freddie says when instead until before"you're stuck at the top of the ferris wheel"?Good grammar would have fit just as well.

  • @ImDavidGurney

He says "You'll never know how good a kiss can feel when you stop at the top of a Ferris Wheel"

  • There's a cover in Chile too, it's in spanish and the name of the song is "La Quinta Normal" performed by chilean duo "Perrosky", take a look of it

  • The Ramones covered this song so good!!!!!

  • Good feeling,...but...my gawd ,what did you do to the audio ? it's totaly distorted,it's so easy to fix that.

  • I am so glad that at least someone agrees with me.

  • First heard this on the radio 1962 summer time Cornwall England,.. coming up to my sixteenth birthday.

  • Can not find music like this today. The kids today have no taste.

  • @denouncer5 that is so true

  • @denouncer5

Today's music and pop culture (or lack thereof) is complete garbage, however saying that ALL the kids of today have no taste is rather foolish. On a much lighter note, what a fantastic song by Mr. Boom-Boom himself....the Ramones did an amazing cover of this too!

  • Just found out Chuck Barris wrote this

  • This song still makes the hair on my neck stand up!!!! God I love it!

  • fucking amazing

  • why so rape ears?

  • she dont know how a finger can feel a the top of a ferris wheell...dirty boy...

  • Pallisades Park is just a memory now. Gone, nothing left. All developed now. So sad

  • those of us who lived tthrough the 60's were so so lucky, music like this all the time

  • Mais c'est SARKOZY !!!!!!!

  • Game show host Chuck Barris was one of the writers of Palisades Park.

  • Something has come to light about Pallisades Park. Some NYC Facebook friends say it's not a park at all. This song created so many images in my head of a fun park when I was a pre teen that it's heart breaking to find this out. Getting out my brain eraser.

  • @LARSENCATCH22

Pallisades Park was indeed an amusement park. It was torn down sometime in the late 1960's or early 1970's in favor of high rise condos. It was located near Englewood NJ off Route 4 near the GW bridge.

  • ah, oldies; good for the soul.

  • @yeahmedude - unless you grew up during that time. then it was of the devil. "evil" sure is cyclical

  • OLDIES CONCERT $37 at Lowell Memorial Auditorium (Lowell, MA) Saturday October 10, 2010 - Bobby Vee, Freddie Cannon, Jack Scott, The Chiffons, The Bobbettes! Tickets: (978) 454-2299.

  • Great Cannon !

  • the video really adds to the song........anyone know what freddy is doing these days ?

  • geez...lip sync.....terrible....but it was the 60's

  • Wow! comments with no cussin!

  • wow so amazing

  • As a child from the 50's & 60's. I remember going to Palisades Park in New Jersey every summer. It was sure a fun place to be and us kids back then never tired of the place. It was magical to place to us...too bad they tore it down. This song keeps the place alive and somehow I'm back and living the moment vicariously.

  • @54nomore I remember Palisades Park too. Only thing you got wrong was this: Palisades was not really torn down, it burned down, I remember watching from the docks of the west side of Manhattan that night, a fire that lasted a couple of days. I was devastated. I thought that they would rebuild but they never did. Then they tore it down and instead of going there, we started going to Coney Island. Now this was before the projects there became dangerous and people stopped going because of crime.

  • @imweezel411 Palisades Park was torn down. There were two big fires, but those happened long before it closed (1971). There were to main reasons for the closing: The owner of the park was in his 70's and had no heirs to run the park. Also, it becames so popular that the towns it was on (Fort Lee and Cliffside Park) had developed near gridlock traffic conditions and random park visitors were taking up parking spaces on residential streets. The land was rezoned and high rises were built on the land

  • @54nomore The guy who owned it set fire to it so hey could get the insurance money and went to jail because the park was loosing money

  • @JackHaynes30 Thanks for the info. To bad it took greed, to destroy a wonderland for kids.

  • @JackHaynes30 I don't know where your information came from but it's not true. Greed certainly doomed the Park, but not fire. The park burned several times in it's almost 100 years and was always rebuilt bigger and better. By 1971 Irving Rosenthal was getting old and wanted out of the business. The locals complained about the traffic and Cliffside Park's scumbag mayor Gerry Calabrese wanted tax revenue so the land was re-zoned for condos.

  • Freddy Cannon for ever

  • super. freddy cannon for ever

  • you can tell that the intro was added later on to the ending...and this was inspired by Dick Clark and done at the studio by Frank Slay before he sent it to the pressing plant. Similar thing with Janis Martins 'Bang Bang"....the drums at the end are from another session and spliced into the master.....

  • these were the times i was supposed to grow up in =(

  • sutonchef

And you would know talent if it hit you in the face.

More likely to be one of the many people you pissed off with your inane postings smacking you in the teeth!!!

  • @mikethefoto YOU GOT NO TALENT. THATS WHY YOU WOULDNT KNOW TALENT IF IT HIT YOU IN THE FACE

  • I gave that boy a hug...

  • Growing up in mass. There was an amusement park in weymouth called

Paragon Park. Every summer my parents took us there. When this song

came on the radio, we sang " Paragon Park " Thanks for the memories

Freddy. We are glad to call you a Bostonian.

  • @knightsbb Paragon Park was in Hull, of course.

  • @knightsbb Paragon Park was in Hull, not Weymouth.

  • I know this song is from 1962, but the video (the styles of the guys and especially the girls-this video, looks quite a bit more modern than that-one girl looked like the late 1960's/actually a late 1960's look?? But, this is amother good one by Freddie Cannon

  • never heard this before. i always thought the ramones version was the original. sorry Freddie!

  • confessions of a dangerous mind ... does anyone happen to know where to find a list of performers on this track?

  • The message of this song is LOVE equals FUN equals ROCK. Anybody who doesn't like "Palisades Park" is too sophisticated for their own good!

  • Although the Ramones version is better.

  • I wonder if Freddie got a little Boom Boom from some of those chicks after the show.

  • Written by the great Chuck Barris!!

  • Just when you think you heard from every idiot, every guy that plays the tough man role on the internet, on the planet in walks StraightTwoDVD....You probably are the biggest asshole that ever posted and listened to that song. And the ass came back twice to try to write something that made sense....guess you enjoyed it the second time.

  • La versión que grabó Gary Lewis estuvo muy buena y, por supuesto, la calidad de la grabación fue superior.

  • freddy looked your dad or your simp biology teacher...not like a rock star...i seriously doubt if any chicks were getting wet at the sight of freddy....

i would swear freddy is working the counter at a pizza place in sheepshead bay, brooklyn...

  • Little known fact, this was written by Chuck Barris who was host of the Gong Show in the 70s... wish the sound quality was better

  • @switcherx Another little known fact is that Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon made the majority of his own clothes. (As did our old neighbor Mel Carter who sang Hold me, thrill, Never let me go.)

  • boom Boom BOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! Go Freddy! Gotta love this guys energy.

  • Esta canción la conoci por los Ramones
