I love this cover, I'm a huge fan of Green Day and a bigger fan of The Who.. you can see that The Who's music influenced Green Day to make American Idiot, I believe I saw an interview by the members of Green Day saying The Who's Tommy was the inspiration, they really have brought a brand new meaning to Rock Opera
I think Green Day did a good job covering this awesome Who song! At least they kept it as close to the original the best they could, unlike Limp Bizkit who butchered Behind Blue Eyes!

entwhistlllllllllllllllll.llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllle strike em'dead gore wit your ox horns.us oh an keith, smaash em' up do i see of fear or you smash green day
@Woulloux I think they were cheering cause they thought the band was doing an awesome job at the song, they cheered then cause it was a pause in the song and they wanted the band to hear their approval.
It's a mini opera. Written by Pete Townshend to fill up 10 mins on the last portion of the Who's second album. This is the prelude to "Tommy" and normally I do not like green day. just personal preference is all. but not that bad.
@scartissue94 It made me think of Jesus of Suburbia right away. I can see the clear Who influence in the songs JOS and Homecoming. Especially when this song goes "We'll soon be home". It's like like the "We're coming home again" that's repeated many times in Homecoming.
I really like green day, I think it's a great pop-punk-band (or you can call it power-pop or whatever), and a song like "jesus of suburbia" reminds me of "a quick one", but when you see them live, you can find a big difference between the energy of green day and the highly exalted musical explosion of the who (especially mr. townshend and expecially especially especially mr. moon, may he rest in peace)
plenty did, i did and im only thirteen, and nobody's better than keith moon so you can't compare him to anybody, tre is good in green day and keith moon was awesome in the who (RIP)
When he started singing this song I thought it was going to be a tease. I was so happy when they played it. Although it seemed I was the only one rocking out to this song. Even watching this again I can see no one seemed to know this song.
Yeah man, I was at hartford, I was the one who got up first for longview, and I'm sorry to say that I'm incredibly cocky about the setlist that green day gave us.
DANG! DANG! DANG! DANG! I'm surprised he didn't cuss!!

This sucks! Greenday should stick with what they know.....3 chord songs.

This song isn't familiar to most people because The Who didn't release this song as a single. It's fucking good though. It's like a story song.

complaining about the setlist?
it's bloody 35 songs..
allthough, i read that at some places they just played the whole new album, and 5 old songs,
which is a good thing, a little change.
