  • The bitch will always need a strong handler.

  • How did you get so many cats to hang around you for so long? Catnip socks? I also liked how the pittie was better behaved on leash than the Dachshund around 2:00!

Nice job of rescuing an aggressive animal. I know the methods look a little harsh, but I also know you wouldn't use them on a non-aggressive animal.

  • Truelly amazing job...bless you guys.

  • It should be noted that prey drive is the reason for the so-called "aggression" towards cats, and that dog aggressiveness is typical of the APBT as well. You cannot TRAIN a dog to not be aggressive towards other dogs, you can, however, train the dog so that the behavior is manageable. I have worked with dogs almost 15 years.

Human aggression is NOT typical in a well-bred American Pit Bull Terrier. This results from neglect and backyard breeders breeding dogs with unstable temperaments.

  • @2Berettas1God that has something to do with it but the behavior overall has to do with lack of leadership and correct exposure not soo much the breeding

  • who cares if she killed cat's they are useless and annoying anyways my yard is cat free they gotta respect the dog's i had a chihuahua and cats would sleep in his house he passed away :/ now i have a German Shepard and a doberman puppy those cats dont come near.

  • Great job showing the possibilities....hopefully the owner/s continued with this to take it to the next level. But youve shown that the potential is there!! I will have my latest euthanasia rescue pitt video up within the next week or 2 tops...in the meantime check out my other latest dealing with an aggressive german shepherd pit mix! i will post a vid attachment as well...kepp up the good work!! and please let me know what you think of my vid/s

  • a minute of silence for the black cat

  • @diegomansi lol kitty got owned

  • this is a nice story awesome that you saved the cats and the aggro dog

  • I don't think e-colars, choke/prong colars etc... are good training tools, if you need them for normal training you are doing something wrong and u will effectively torture your dog into listening (ugh).

However, in severe cases, i think, when used right, u can temporarily use these tools. It's better then euthanizing them. Maybe the previous owners who did the harm should be euthanised.

  • was she people aggressive too?

  • Because of the bad owners of some dogs, people in CA keep proposing to ban Pit Bulls. I know that would also mean putting many to sleep(killing). I fear the ones I don't know. It does my heart good to see a well trained, sweet Pit Bull.

  • Good job!!

  • All the management in the world cannot replace proper socialization. Not everyone can own every breed of dog. Some people are ill-equipped to own a Cocker Spaniel. However, I can think of no reason, except for dog-fighting, for a dog to be *allowed* to be anti-social / dog-aggressive. There's no point in restraining a dog on a chain made to hoist a 2 ton vehicle. Dogs can learn to be self-restrained if they respect their human and their human knows how to handle a strong willed dog.

  • I guess that would depend on whether it were your cherished dog or cat that was the object of the aggression from another dog. Would that change your mind?

How about if it were your dog that killed your friend's, sister's or neighbor's cherished dog or cat? You wouldn't find that a bit stressful / disrespectful / unacceptable or somewhat hard to explain?

You'd just tell your sister, "hey, sis, sorry my dog just killed your dog, but that's normal"?

  • Aw she looks just like mine.

  • Damn that woman was Fine !!

  • Lets face it, if you think all pitbulls are angels, youre wrong, if you think theyre all aggressive and should not exist, youre wrong again. Its a behavioral problem, could happen to any dog.

  • Good job

  • A tired dog, is a happy dog.

  • poor dog... choking chain...

  • Yeah, poor dog. We saved her from euthanasia by resolving her cat killing behavior. Poor cats, we kept them alive teaching the dog, too. Poor owner, they didn't have to kill their dog. We've asked folks who use "gentle" methods how they fix a dog that kills cats. They recommend killing the dog. They have no tools in their tool box to resolve it. Death is their solution. So, a correction method that leaves the dog alive and psychologically balanced is a really terrible thing, isn't it?

  • I agree, He was doom to Euthanasia because wimpy trainers refuse to deal with his problems. Spent most of his life on a heavy chain because the owners don't want to deal with him. All that yet 1SOF1 has a problem with him being on a choke chain vital to his rehabilitation.

  • the training you used was right sometimes physical force is needed to make the animal understand some people like 1sof1 dont understand canine psycology and what it takes to rehab a dog i total support your work good job

  • You must seriously have NO idea about dog training!!!!!

  • @rebeccaeve30120 is this a reference to darnfar?

  • There is no choke chain..it's a prong collar .... do you know the difference?

My sister had a pit once and after two years of trying the all positive stuff she had the dog murdered because she refuse to use corrections.. poor dog

The rescue I used to work with also had dogs like this terminated before they would considered having one of those nasty prong collars used on there poor dog.

    go figure?

  • @DOGWOMAN55 just lazy people that made stubborn and horrible decisions...or approached the wrong people that used collars such as these...they can be a great tool when used correctly and bad when used incorrectly..that can be said for any leash collar harness etc...same w a pencil to a student or pencil to a inmate...its all in how you use it (in regards to most tools)

  • @1SOF1 you did not ask an educated behaviorist. Training and behavior are two different areas. The yank, choke and flood your dog is 25 years out of date, even though a tv show still shows these ways. I am glad you had success because I see the opposite with this everyday.

  • @integralconsult333 can u explain to me what "out of date" means to u. aside from hearing it from people that u follow. it makes no sense..saying that its outdated means that it worked and now all of a sudden doesnt? Did the dogs catch on n get hip 2 these methods n as a result it stopped working? lol obv. not. ur right when u say tht training n focusing on dog behavior and psycology have differences but i dnt think u truly realize what n why that is. N where do you get 25 yrs from? lol

  • @1SOF1 sorry other comment as meant for damfar

  • @1SOF1 you have a lot to learn my friend

  • the hate that ppl wright saying you could never do that with my dog is because they dont have the knowledge of how to train a pit and are to ignorant to ask for help so the dog gets tied up builds up aggression spinning in circles and when it gets loose it ends up on the evening news.

  • I bet in addtion to commanding the dog's respect, this dog got plenty of running and exercise.

There's not better dog than a tired dog.

  • No animals were injured in the making of this video and they all belonged to the Trainers who have a high level of skill at making certain the animals remain un-injured.

  • but not fair to let ure dog around other animals that arnt yours.

also they are bred to have a stupidly high pain tolerance so they wont give up one they get in the red zone.

  • fact is pitbulls was bred for dog fighting.

so same was u might have a Collie and never teach it to herd animals and might play with it every day etc one day it might see a sheep and automaticly start to herd it.

in the same way a pitbull could one day see another dog and get it in his head to bite the other dog much easier than other dogs could.

like i said to them its a instinct.

if well trained they will be great but you can never be SURE that their instincts wont kik in. u can risk ure pets

  • I train herding dogs professionally - for over 25 years. We teach them when to use their instinct and when not to do so. I disagree with your analogy. The whole point of the training is to get the dog to a state of "self restraint" and respect for her handler and her handler's "things", including other dogs. Rehab works if the owner is capable of maintaining the proper relationship with the dog. It doesn't fail because of the dog or breed - but the relationshop that is built by the human.

  • well trained differs in meaning from person to person. I guarantee that some people's pit bulls who really know what they are doing will never attack anything. Have you seen Sharky the pitbull on youtube? Cesar Millan's Pitbull Daddy? Dominant herders might get in a habit of herding family members and cats or other dogs, but if done right then you dont have to worry about it. Same with Pit bulls.

  • true but it will always be their instinkt so if your a good trainer and keep on top of it always will be no problem but all im saying if you let your training slip with a hurding dog it might start hurding but a pitbull is much more likley to turn agresive if not trained proper.

so i think only good experienced dog owners should even think of owning a pitbull.

  • Sharky a mutt thats not even a full pitbull

  • he might have something else in his genes somewhere due to the merle coloring, but he is more pit bull than anything. Millan has several pit bulls equally as calm submissive as Sharky

  • well they need to try teaching a real full blooded pit like mines and ill bet any thing they wont get the job done

  • watch the dog whisperer. he has rehabilitated APBTs who fought in the pit. dogs whove lost eyes in the pit. Dogs who would snap at anything. Behavioral problems are not because of the dog, they are because of the owner.

  • Any dog is trainable dude.

  • not any dog and if you still feel that that way then why dont you come here and help me train my rottie cross shepherd and ill bet you would change your ways about training diffrent breeds

  • i would totally love to do it where are u from?

  • Im from the UK

  • I don't know. Mine has this barking/hyper problem that borders on ADHD. He listens when you tell him to stop, but it's just getting him to stop the behavior permanently that's the headache.

  • these dogs need plenty of excercise. i guarantee if you gave him enough the problem would be greatly diminished. dont get dogs that have an energy level above your own. Its just not compatible.

  • @TheGameBreedPit what does full blooded have to do w anything?? that was a stubborn unintelligent comment...are you saying that you are glad that your dog is not trained? what was the point of your comment..lol so dumb..sorry but really it was

  • Collie was bred for guard and herding the cattles so its not the same as the pitbull when pits are only bred to fight

  • wats ure point that collie was bred for two things and pet only 1? if anything makes pit more likley to do it by ure theory but i dont think thats right. collie is a herder simple

  • I have known well over 20 pit bulls in my time. Not 1 has ever attacked anyone, or anything. The only 1 who was ever in a fight, was put into that situation by the neighbors who allowed their 2 labs roam the neighborhood, jumped into his yard & attacked him. He never snapped at another dog, & was playing at the vets office with a pekingese, while waiting to get stitches taken out. Spay/neutering, proper socilization, training, & not tethering is the key to keep ANY dog from attacking.

  • how much would it cost to have your dog trained like this? my dog's aggressive too...

  • The all positive people say that what you do is only a quick fix and that that the dog will sneak off at night and kill a cat and sneak back in and you just will never know! Sure it will behave when you are around but just wait till you go to sleep as it will sneak up and bite you!..

Thats just what they say so do not blame me for warning you.

  • great video...what a turn around although I dont want to know what happened to the cat after about a minute when buster was off the leash....but once again it is all about the dumb owners....who keeps a dog chained up for fvcks sake?

  • bruiser. not buster. haha

  • great

  • I think it is awesome that there are people out there who are willing to give dogs a second chance and it just proves that behaviour can be changed with a bit of training and love, but i also think videos like this give the impression that pitbulls are the only aggressive breed out there, where is the video with an aggressive labrador (yes, they do exist) being retrained..its not really fair to portray only pitbulls in this light. It kinda fuels a fire that is already burning out of control.

  • i think its because people are trying to showing pitbulls can be good dogs, no matter what. no one has to prove labs are decent animals because no one is contesting it. pitbulls and rotts are a big issue in the dog world right now. its very sad because the people crying out against them are so ignorant and the people defending them are so passionate. its like a political war, over animals.

  • ya but listen to this i shit u not, when i was a year old my uncles yellow lab attacked me for no reason, been around pitts my whole life and own one and have never been attacked by another dog

  • Yes, aggressive labradors do exist, I have a scar on my leg to prove it.

  • There was a time where since labradors were in such high demand, inexperienced and poor owners were breeding them in huge numbers without the proper care they needed, especially puppy farms. They used to say that it weakened the genetic gene pool as some breeding pairs had genetic problems. It still goes on with other breeds but in England around the early '90's there was quite a problem with the breeding of labradors and golden retrievers. I'm not sure nowerdays, however.

  • I don't know the story behind the labrador that bit me. I only know he wasn't behind a fence or on a lead. Oh.. and someone gave me a negative mark for saying a labrador bit me. Sorry, whoever gave me thumbs down, but it's a fact.

  • i had a LAB and he attacked my sister for petting him..and he killed all my unk animales than i had a dog i dont know what kind of breed it was but all i know he was a small breed he attack me left my foot all bloody than i got a pitbull and a chihuahua and my chihuahua would attack my pitbull and he wouldnt do anything pitbulls are very nice dogs its the owner who make them agressive plus you should never have a pitbull or anykind of dog chained in your back yard rotting

  • i think this is some great work. keep on keeping on.

  • i think this is a beautiful video.maybe there is still hope for some of the poor dogs that are euthanized every day in this country because they are considered "aggressive".i think he is a wonderful trainer and he did a great job with bruiser.for dogs like him it's a matter of life or death.(if they cannot change their behavior)thank you for saving him!

  • i think owners without experience should not get pit bulls or any other fighting breeds. They just make the dog worse instead of better.

  • I didnt mean "bad", I meant dead instead.

Once the dog has the cat in its jaws, it will shake it to death

  • It's awful to think that you would think we would put our own cats in jeopardy during training. We were in complete control during the training. No cats were, or ever have been injured during our training. A dog knows when it is muzzled, and so there comes a time when we have to train without it, and when you do, you need to be competent and capable. That is the difference between Professionals and non-professionals. We are professional trainers.

  • Watch at time 0:21.

You want to tell me that this cat wasn´t in danger? With a bit of bad luck this cat would be bad now.

In Germany you could never work like this way.

  • That Is NOT GOOD for this dog and this owner in this case. The dog had been to three professional trainers using different approaches with no success.

This dog responded well to dog being rehabbed first, owner trained seperately, and then both brought together under a new understanding.

The dog and owner are now enjoying a more relaxing relationship and the dog was spared the euthanasia that was planned should this last attempt failed.

    happy ending.

    thanks for caring.

  • That is good but I disagree with having other people control your dog. YOU the OWNER should be there every day.

  • dogs and cats are enemy.a dog that loves cats is like a criminal that loves police!!

  • dogs and cats are NOT natural enemies. They're not able to communicate, for biological reasons, and this create the adverse situations.

Teaching them to communicate, they can be even friends.

  • really cute dog though, nice video

i am an owner of english bullterrier, love it to bits!

  • why did she flinch when you touched her?

  • probably been beaten by previous owners while being chained out :(

  • and a dog killing a measly cat is a bad thing

only joking but i dont like cats

  • As a trainer and behaviorist, I will support that not too many things mess up a dog more than chaining them away from life, them loosing their ability to view their handler as a fair strong leader, and lastly to not live with boundaries, limitations, and work. They want to earn their keep. This dog seemed to have all those things against it.Again I will say. Dogs live in the now. Its never too late. Don't give up on your pets. Seek Help from a professional

  • I agree with you 100%!

  • it's very important to train your dog especially if its a pitbull. some dogs show agression towards different people or other animals and you need to make sure that they stop doing it incase someday something might get into their head and attack someone or another dog. I have a pitbull myself, he went to trainig as a pup because he didnt like other dogs, he usually attacked them but now he stoped and I teached him all the other commands like "sit down" or "lie down".

  • woooow amazing good work!

Muchas FELICIDADES este video es muy lindo y la labor que hacen es muy buena esto es para que se de cuenta la gente que los pitbulls no son agresivos los hacen los dueños.

  • My pit is four months. He's smart too and already knows most of the basic sit, down, come, stay, shake, roll over, etc...he doesn't bite anymore unless you're playing ball then he might accidently nips your hand when jumping. He listens well now. We usually let him out w/out a leash in the back or front and when called he comes. If he wants out he cries, not bark. Yeah barking is a bit demanding. Get some porfessional help.

  • es un ejemplo los felicito son admirables..

    salu2

  • The woman draging her agresive rat on a leash away in the park cracks me up, great work on the pit by the way.

  • You put a lot of work into that dog, I'm curious how she's faring under the owners. As an APBT trainer myself, I find that the owners rarely continue with the same effort to maintain the positive behavior once the dog leaves your hands.

  • é isso mesmo. todos os pit bulls devem saber conviver, devem saber socializar-se. a melhor maneira para isso acontecer é ensinar-lhes a ter regras para tudo.

  • very good, i love to see positive videos lakie yours, thats the good way to train/treat a dog. thanks for posting your video. :)

  • good work ! veeeery cute dog .

  • I work for 3 pit bull rescues. Whenever There is a case where the dog is food, handler or fellow animal aggressive I take them home to my small rescue and rehab them as you have done here. As a full time trainer, let me say that I could only WISH that my rescues have the results that you have shown here. Amazing work! Showing the animals you are the Alpha is mandatory but no matter what, breaking ticks and small animal aggression is hard!

  • This dog was not abused or stray. She belonged to the same couple since she was 6 weeks old (now 5 yrs). Her aggression developed because her owners did not set limits for her & did not manage her properly. She was chained outdoors. Chaining is terrible management. Her female owner admitted to being afraid of her. This sort of energy really messes with a dog's mind. The dog had begun to growl at her owners. It's unfortunate that her owners did not seek professional training sooner.

  • Great Job Guys!!! Did she come from an abusive setting or was she a stray???
