makes you appreciate the guitar sound george martin got. the fuzz break at the end is pure cheese. still this is way better than lena horne doing 'rocky racoon' gare
i first heard this on the CD The Exotica Beatles, a compilation of bizarre Beatle cover tunes, recorded by strange artists. The CD also had a funny version of Maurice Chevalier singing "Yellow Submarine." Mae West released "Day Tripper" on her rock n' roll album "Way Out West;" Mae putting a sexy spin on 1960s rock n' roll songs.
I wouldn't be shocked if, even as a pretty old lady, Mae West knew *exactly* what the song was aboutl. From a long, long, long history in show biz, I don't think there was too much she hadn't seen.
Mae makes every song clearly personal...

This song totally rocks with the woman's point of view.

Celebrities "cashing in" with albums full of cheesy covers was common enough in the 1960s. Anyone remember William Shatner's "rock" recordings?

that wasn't bad at all! she could've recorded a full album and made millions on the celebrity level alone.

I just love the fact that Mae West recorded this song with herself as the Day Tripper, probably having no idea what this song actually was about.
