  • Honda vfr 800?

  • WHAT!!!

  • why the f@ck have they put a 675 in the test you silly tw@t you just know its going to be the cheaper bike .it looked to me that the aprilia rsv was the out and out winner. And as for the R1 its just lost the plot and where was the GSXR1000????.

  • @MrSpeedfightRichy R1 would be the fastest, as usual for superbikes.

  • All I can see in most of the comments for this is a bunch of grown men acting like little boys - I'm 18, I've just got into it all and I love going out on my bike. What RUINS the whole subcultural experience is the ignorant macho bullshit that lads start spewing when they're waving their dick around.

If you've got an opinion either keep it to yourself or be open to what someone else thinks.

  • @ZombieEatYourBrains hide up in your bedroom and fuck yourself with any thing that fits or shit that some women do to themselves now and think its ok to do!!and shut your mouth and leave this to grown ups

  • @SuperEnochpowell shut up hes cool, your one of the pricks he is mentioning, and reading your comment you look like a kid actually, you say your a grown up? stay sportive you sexual Frustrated no life kid.

  • how much did triumph pay you.fucking hell

  • I can`t understand what he says at 0:13... it sounds like: Aprilia's new V4 and the alama, macloy's rose.

  • @plooba

    isle of man, closed roads

  • @plooba I agree. This guy should not be allowed to be the spokesperson for these MCN tests. His sentences are short, sharp, mumbled and tail off at the end into incoherent gibberish.I don't know much about the the variation of the accents of people from various parts of the U.K.,but it would seem that this guy originates from one of the lower socio-economic areas. That accent gives the impression of an illiterate, high school dropout. But then again,so do most of the regional accents from England.

  • @rcfirdy .He reminds me of the character from the Little Britain series.Vicky Pollard.

  • This test proves that you should never get Englishmen to judge a bike compo with an English made bike in it...

  • The RSV4 looks so planted on the high speed corners...amazing machine!!!

  • man what the fuck is he sayin`?? is it 180 mph or 189mph the aprillia hit??? anyone??

  • @rottepung666 189mph

  • @mark675 WHAT!! i find that very hard to belive in every mag iv`e read ( superbike, fastbikes, performanceb bike etc etc.. they all have struggled ALOT with this bike NO ONE was able to hit 180mph with this..

  • Seriously, these mag journalists are complaining the internet killed off their business but fail to see that most people can see through the marketting plys or flag waving...I'll give you another gem: Bika magazine says the MV Agusta F4 isn;t good for the road cos off on/off throttling. Go and see the video on Youtbe of that bike. Absolute tosh...it is smooth as anything. Stupid motorbike magazine journalists should look at themselves why people don;t buy the crappy mags. IDIOTS.

  • That is a complete joke..Why do English people constantly have to be gloating about their own machinery..The Triumph is far from sports bike of the year 2009..MCN with Triumph is getting nearly as hard to listen to as that Clarkson idiot about Jags and Aston Martins!!!Seriously MCN you are starting to lose all credibility..

  • I absolutely agree 100 per cent. I bought Bike magazine which might be the same clowns as MCN and they had the crappy triumph street triple as bike of the year...bahahaha...a naked crappy 600 beat a £50k Ducati Desmosedici...not to mention all the Gixxers, R6, ZX10 etc etc. Absolute JOKE. And in the sports bike test the KTM Arsey8 (which has same performance specs as an R6) beat the Duc 1198 by 2 seconds because they said the Duc was too hard to control on track...bahahahahaha...CLOWNS

  • Well the Street Triple is a awesome all rounder. Its got indefinatly one of the best sports engines, in a robust strong sports frame with comfort and looks. It performs great and is a all-round perfect road-bike.

Considering a Desmosedici, GSXR or anything like that for the 'best bike of the year' would be stupid. There more in the 'Best sports bike of the year'

  • You know, the triumph for the money, packs much more of a connected feeling to the rider than the others. Coming from riding experiance, the ZX feels dead from lower-end, and the R6s 'wire' system is just shit for road. The GSXR is definatly up there but for all round road and track, the 675 really does rape.

  • first time i hear anyone say the daytona is good for touring lol

  • I rode the Triumph the other day and I found it quite boring. The power was very linear and failed to entertain. Clinically good bike ..... yawn. Give me a wind up jap 600 slingshot anyday!!! Go the Yamaha

  • LOOK YOU HAVE TO HANG OFF, CUT CORNERS..GREAT BIKE to DIE on..MUPPETS ...YOU GUYS SELL BIKES AND COST LIFES..

  • I'd take the RSV4!

  • Hell yeah I'd buy me a Triumph!

  • this test proves that size doesn`t always win.most guys who go out and buy these 180bhp superbikes do so as a cock waving contest! they can`t even ride the fucking things to their potential.i know coz i pass enough of them on the twisties every weekend! a well ridden 600 class bike is more than a match for a poorly ridden litre class bike every time. too much bullshit spoken on here by people who think they can ride like Rossi just coz they`ve got the most powerful sportsbike on the road,

  • @captainbimble I agree with Bimble! i ride a 400 and ive overtaken enough bigger bikes on backroads, Although im getting bored of road thrashin in need to get my arse on a track

  • Fuck that!CBR forever!HONDA RULES!!!

  • Comment removed

  • People are paid to talk like this and like that blah blah blah..When you hit 100,000kms without the engine failure, that's when you say The bike of the year. When you ride at your best, whatever you ride is the best. My GSXR600K7 is the best to me coz it's about 70,000kms and running.

  • the only problem with the 675 is you cant race it ,whats with the 75 cc can they not compete without it .plus it looks cheap like a hyosung lol

  • you can race in 675 in AMA / CMBA for 600 class. FIM under amateur categories allows 675 as well.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, you can race it in Supersport class, because Daytona has 3-cylinder engine - one cylinder less than it's 600 cc Japanese contenders. In 2009, Garry McCoy was riding it in WSBK Supersport class.

  • That was a waste of 3 min and 28 sec. A british dude saying the british bike is the best, that's a suprise. Where was the Ducati? Oh wait, if they had put a Ducati in here it would have wasted all of them. Ducati for life!

  • Ducati was not listed because it didn't beat out against R1 and RSV4 in comparison (above 1000CC class). RC8R was mid level class winner (750CC +) and Daytona was the winner of 600CC. So out of all three comparision 675 wins, which I agree.

  • What? Can you make some sense please? This test didn't say 600cc Sport Bike of the Year. It said "Sport Bike of the Year." And there is no need arguing with me. Nothing beats a Ducati in my book. Not because some report says so but because of 15 years of racing Ducatis says so. And let me guess, are you British?

  • No it isnt 600CC test - the best of all Sport bike. THey selected top winners from each categories I mentioned above, then chose the best of all. I am NOT British - I'm Korean. So they are comparing through the different classes and though 675 is in 600CC class, it beats out 1000cc above and mid class.

  • Again, what? So you are saying that no matter what, a 600 wins? Now I know that I don't need to waste any more time with you. Ducati for life! (Not from reading some report, but from actual race experience.)

  • They are comparing 600 class vs. 750 class vs. 1000+ class. And out of all three, they are comparing the WINNERS of three classes, and choosing the BEST. And YES, 675 is better than RSV4 or Ducati 848/1198 or R1 - in terms of power-to-weight, and most of all, ridability. I agree with them not from reading, but also from racing and street experience (AMA League div 2 lic holder - Dakar 1999/2002).

  • I'm sorry.... he has clearly stated the premises of the video. We all get what he is saying, except you. I think it is you that is bad at understanding.

And apparently Ducati isn't the best, because the 1198 DIDN'T even win its comparo test earlier in the year to get here in the first place.....

  • Blah, blah, blah. You are sorry. He stated that this is the "Bike of the Year" video and then proceeds to say that the Triumph wins because it is a 600. That was my only point.

I really don't care what some video or magazine article says. I race Ducatis because they fit my riding style. And I can kick anyones ass on one. I don't understand why everyone is getting their panties in a wad. I'm not saying Ducatis are the best for everyone, it's just my pref. Ride whatever you want, I don't care.

  • He never said that it was the winner because it was a 600. Please point out to where he said that. He said that the Triumph won the 600cc comparison EARLIER IN THE YEAR, and that out of the four bikes presented here he thinks that it is the best, overall.

But the matter of fact is that there is no Ducati here, your fanboying is completely irrelevant. Fantastic, i'm glad for you that you race a Ducati. How about you post a video up? Everyone here would love to see your expertise of Ducati.

  • What the hell man? Are you getting your jollies out of this? Do you need a minute to finish yourself off? And fanboying? I like Ducatis. You don't. Whatever. From your screen name I take it your a CBR fan. Great! Go ride a CBR. And yes, my liking Ducatis here is irrelevant because clearly I'm dealing people that would rather drive a Toyota Supra than a Ferrari Enzo. I'm done with you now.

  • No its no sweat off my back, im really just trying to figure out why you have so much trouble with reading his statements. But whatever.

No I ride an R6, this SN is 6 years old, and yes i'd rather drive an Enzo. : )

    Cheers

  • i have a ducati and they are the business. period. racing history. design. blistering v twin engine. most other bikes get forgotten ducatis are always remenbered no matter how old!!

  • Ducatis don't have V-twin engines. They have L-twin engines.

  • whats the difference?

  • Hopeless British marketing campaign for the Triumph

  • bullshit, This should not be the "cheapest" bike of the year, but BEST , which truly is R1 2009 win crossplane crankshaft

  • Actually 2009 R1 was a dissapointment - Yamaha toned downed the engine from 2008 model and changed the suspension setting. 2008 R1 was much better bike, and I hope they fix it by 2010.

  • did you get too drive the r1 ,i drove both on demo days and the new r1 has so much more torque and was the best bike i have ever rode

  • Yes, I test drove 2008 R1 for 2 weeks and I also rode 2009 R1 for about 3 days in Vancouver, BC. 2008 R1, when it was first introduced with variable crank shaft, had slightly more power than 2009 - somehow, I find it odd that Yamaha reduced horsepower for 2009. 2008 R1 was near perfect though.

  • The 2008 R1 did not have the variable crankshaft. It had a normal firing rate. This is the first year for that. Yamaha did not magically reduce the horsepower.

  • I ride all theactuel bikes...but i have to say that THE NEW APRILIA RSV4 Is not only the bike of the year, i think it's the best bike from the last 10 years...It's simply amazing..!!

  • Since Hong Kong Triumph dealer has marked up the 675's price upto a 1000 Jap bike price. I'd say the R1 is the best. I used to have a 675 and I loved it, full gas on full lean. Take corners like on rails. But every since I bought a 09 R1. I realized it's just so more powerful with the same handling.

  • They never test the GSXR 750...

  • That's because it goes without saying: GSXR 750 is king of the roads.

  • werd!!!

  • Nope, cause the King rules from on high and bears witness to the fruitless struggle of his underlings for the honorary title of "wink" "wink" "Best Bike of 2k9"

The gsxr is the undisputed king of the road.

    ALL HAIL gixxer!!!

  • The Daytona will probably make it into the finals of IBOTY but the CBR1000RR will win... again. Best performance. Best midrange. Best sorted chassis. Comfortable. Price is great.

No way can you do "touring" on the D675. 2 hours of monkey butt is not "touring."

  • Ok 30 years and raced - why is it that i kill R1's,duc's and aprilia in the corners with my little 675...??? - 675's kick ass - i own 2 bikes and hve been riding for 15 years - I have not got on a sport bike i did not like

  • "cos the guys you ride against are lame with massive chicken strips on their tires.

  • Good choice. Even though I'm a Ducatitista, I've always thought the Triumph 675 to be a great bike.

  • Doesn't anyone on here read mcn or actually listen to the video? They compared all the 600's, 1000's, v twins ect and these were the winners of all those individual catagories compared together to find the sportsbike of the year. So the gixxers and blades ect have all already been compared in earlier tests but lost out to the R1 which is why its the R1 in this test. Alot of dumb people on you tube who don't know how to listen lol oh yeah, and the R1 wins for me!

  • Right, i just made the same comment below lol, i didn't read yours till after, i toatally agree with what you said. :) R1 wins for me too.

  • cool, thanks mate

  • compare the 675 in a 600class. MCN SUCKS DICK. were are all the other bikes? blades, gsxr's....

RSV4 all the way!! expensive?? i dont fucking think so, it is a cheap desmosedici rr, it got full ohlins suspension, brembo brakes, slipperclutch, full adjustable chassis and swingarm!!...

the RSV4 would be my winner for 2009 and for the coming years to!

i love all bike except the 675.

the only triumph i like is the street tripple

  • Hey, idiot, where are all the other bikes? Use you're fucking head, the Aprilia is there because it's frankly, brilliant, and theirs nothing like it in terms of the engine, the RC8R is there because it won the Vtwin tests, so the ducati, mv and benelli isn't there, the R1 won the litre bike tests, and the triumph is the best 600 of the year, so they put allt hsoe together to get the best SPORTSBIKE, not superbike, not litre bike, not 1000cc just sports bike.. but i think the R1 should have won..

  • they should not put sportbike of the year, it should be "cheapest sportbike of the year" and pit it against similarly priced rivals.

i think only in england you wold see this result and it is a shame and embarrassement.

  • What a shocker. The D675 is as "comfy" as the RC8R is "cheap." These guys are so far up their own limy asses.

  • Two sportbikes which the whole WORLD knows as the best two all around sportbikes are the Gsxr750 and Ducati 848. These bums didn't even bring those bikes, the Honda 1000 blade didn't get considered, are you fucking kidding me. I live and die with Suzuki because that's what I ride. But I know like hell these three bikes were robbed for a reason. Run a weak ass 675 which is really unchanged since it came out, only paint and minor changes made to it, they compare it with the 600 class please.

  • hahahahahah Suzuki hahahahahahahahaha

  • I think they were just comparing the new for 09 field, the 675 got new suspension, look, motor tweaks, and is lighter so it got included. in the beginning he said they brought the best from the classes, v-twin, supersport, literbike, and the aprilia for fun.

  • what's with the flashing red light on the rsv4?

  • Shift light. They probably didn't set it before the test, it's adjustable in 100 RPM increments.

  • Nah..... Bogga Cub 90 paste all of `em with me, my six kids, wife and pet goat bungee chorded on!

  • i work with triumph

i think there amazing bikes but i still think the r1 for performance and aprilla for looks;)

  • So, like, you guys ride around some corners and then declare a bike "winner".

    LMAO.

  • i agree with this guy. i think you're full of shit for doing a VERY simple and un-insightful comparison between these bikes. seems like to me, you only chose the triumph for the price. i think you should compare all the bikes on the road and track, then decide which one is the winner.

  • Fun to watch, with an MCN grain o' salt.

  • i think they were paid by someone to choose the 675 just so people go an buy it to keep triumph afloat in troubled times (dont worry i'll be getting one soon)

  • The 2009 sport bike of the year is non other than the Yamaha R1, period. Its the BEST road legal sport bike ever built ... straight from the technology used in Moto GP ..

  • you sound like you were paid to say that

  • The only bike that could make the moto gp claim is the ducati desmo. sorry to burst your bubble. maybe world sbk though.

  • You're bursting that guys bubble not mine haha...

I only said he sounded like he was paid to say that, because quite frankly,he sounded like a commercial!

Though you seriously can't compare the desmo to any other bike.I mean the price, avaliability, etc. etc.

And most of us can't really say shit, because to know these bikes you have o test them all on the street and on the track, which probably not even 5% of youtubers posting comments have done

  • Agree. If i was going to buy another 1000 why would i get the 675 triumph. Got to be the R1 and i'm a Suzuki fan.

  • I've ridden one, and I can conclusively say it's *NOT* the best road legal sport bike ever built. And in my opinion, I didn't like it nearly as well as MCN did. It's heavy, it's got soft power and it does a lot of computer trickery to make your average rider think they're riding the fastest bike around... until they get reamed by a faster bike by Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Aprilia, or Ducati. Wait... that places the R1 dead last in the speed stakes, where it really is...

  • well said buddy

your bang on the money with that comment

  • i read in a few magazines now that the fireblade was number1 along with the daytona second and r1 third. personnally i feel that it is being biased towards daytona just because it is brittish. r1 and fireblade will always be the best. definatley not KTM!!!!!!!!

  • Im sure the R1 would have won if the rider was more skilled

  • I don't get it, its supposed to be SPORTS bike of the year, why is he giving it the nod cus of comfort & touring ability? I think this would be a very minimal consideration for most ppl wanting a sports bike in `09.

  • yesterday i would have said picking the 675 is rubbish. but i just read a mag test where the 675 lapped faster than the 848 it was paired against. That really impressed me. I'm a CBR600 guy, but love the 848. If the 675 can win that test, i can see how it won this test too.

  • He needs to sort out that handle bar tache of his LOL

  • what the f... is this

the best bike is the honda fireblade abs

    punto!!!

  • It's been tested against the new R1.. it's not the best. although it is good.

  • I personally tested it against the R1. It's not the better bike of the two. Sounds better? Yes. That's the R1's only advantage in my opinion.

  • You know, you just seem to have a stick up your ass and a chip on you're shoulder, you are clearly biased against the yamaha, why? because it beat the suzuki and honda by the sound of things and as far as you not agreeing with there verdict, that's your opinion i have mine on it aswell, but why dispute it so much, the R1 might be down on horsepower, but they knew that would happen, it's about traction and driveability, and the R1 has plenty on the road anyway...

  • Why? Because I've ridden all of them. ALL of them. Including an Aprilia RSVR.

I own five bikes, two of them litre bikes (Aprilia, Honda, two Suzukis and a Kawasaki). I've ridden for 30 years. I've raced motocross and road racing (and cars).

Astonish us, if you will, with *YOUR* first hand knowledge of the bike and your ability to rate them against one another...

  • Sigh, what has the RSVR got to do with anything? you own 5 bikes? so? blah blah blah, the only thing that was interesting in all of that was you've ridden for 30 years, as for racing? you couldn't have been all that great especially with this chip on your shoulder, and my first hand knowledge of the bikes and my ability to rate them, i'm not going there, i favoure the 2009 R1, end fucking of, i don't need to tell you i've done this done that, i told you why i thought it was the better bike......

  • I don't care if you buy or ride an R1, and if you do I hope you enjoy it. No skin off my nose... if I hadn't ridden the others, then I would think the R1 was awesome. And it is... it just isn't as good as some others.

Jump off the new R1 and ride a 2006 GSX-R 1000. I bet that would make you see why picking brand favourites or the latest bike is stupid. And you wouldn't want that new R1 so much anymore, I bet...

  • Ye.. O.K.

  • I'm a Suzuki and Aprilia guy to my core, but I have to agree with this statement. I've ridden all the litres and own 2. The CBR is the best package right now. I couldn't lock the tire on the CBR!

I have only 2 complaints about the CBR - you have to take eyes off the road to see your speed, and the engine sound is sewing machine quiet; not like the barking made sound that comes out of a GSX-Rl. Pulling the resonator out of the airbox fixes #2.

Perfect bike in every respect. Honestly.

  • The daytona is the best overall, has the power for those track straights or overtaking a car with a blimp of throttle. It is more affordable for the average bloke on the average income, throw it nicely around into corners, significantly lighter. But they did not consider comfort in this test, the 675 is quite small in real life. The pegs are way to high and the riding position is lying on the tank.

  • ... and it's british

  • hahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    LLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Real???? and there are people trust to this test??!?!?

    ok but i have bought RSV4 ;-)

  • Awh, I appreciate your videos! Thanks for making them. Nice lighting that you used when you were recording it (; haha

  • there is no way the r1 is the best bike i have one and i cant see where the price comes from at all!!! i have riden the aprilia and think its a fantastic bike but the again so is the triumph but at the min i fav the gsxr 600 k7!

  • R1 should have won, only reason it didn't is because it not so cheap anymore!!

  • Are traditional inline fours dead ?

Nice tan Chad but lose the goatie, it makes you look like a twat.

  • this is utter bull shit!!!!!1 why would they choose a 600 as winner among the 1000cc bike test.

  • Power is not all, (but important) agilty, handling torque is all necessary for a good bike

  • because the 675 is the best overall! just because 1000cc sports bikes are fast, doesn't mean they're the best.

  • Agreed. This wasn't a test of who had the biggest motor or top speed. This was a test of which had the best performance.

  • for me it does

  • if you just want speed, get yourself a hyabusa and meet me for a track day at brands hatch - let's see who gets round faster - you on the busa or me on my 675

  • me on my busa

i hit Seca at least twice a year

  • yes you would win that race.

but let say gixxer 1000 vs 675

    would be a close race

  • depends on the track

  • Agree I have a liter bike and they are way too much for the street. I would be much happier riding a 675 on the street. I love those bikes but the r6 is my fav 600cc bike...

  • Windy much?

  • i have a feeling mcn havnt heard of fur coated microphones to reduce wind noise!!

  • that light aint for shifting dude!!

  • A British bike winning a British test, I am shocked!

  • ill take the r1

  • whats the red flashing light?

  • yeah me too wondering

  • That's a shift-light, it tells the rider the best time to change gear... but that one was lit through a big part of the rev range. Maybe that's also for short-shifting.

  • didnt the kawa win

  • I have ridden the 09 r1 and the triumph 675 and i tell you right now i would pick the r1 any day, even if it cost twice as much

  • BS!!!

  • BS!!!

  • I knew before they said it that the English would choose the Triumph??? Very scientific decision making.

  • Couple of weeks ago people said that MCN was biased towards Yamaha!!!!! MCN cant win! Its all about opinions. My opinion........I am English so of course for the bargain price i would take the Triumph over any of the others. But thats just my opinion. A Jap bike mag would probably take the R1, a Italian would take the Aprilia and an America would take the er oh! They dont make any decent bikes lol!

  • Ouchhhh. Harshhh. lol. I own an R6 so I approve of their biased decisions

  • i like the 675 but im a bit at odds with triumph at the moment with them moving production to foreign country, ands its not like they are producing a mass market bit like Honda and Yamaha et all.

  • not really a triumph fan but enjoyed the show awseome guys keep up the good work ;D

  • Triumph is SHIT, clearly Yamaha has it pinned down easily

  • the triumph is an amazing bike

and its deserves to be the best

  • the yamaha will be faster cause its a 1000cc...race the triumph against an R6 and see who wins.

  • Good show chaps, the sounds were awsome & the views were great ;-)

  • Triumph = Poop!

  • Why does he look like a mexican...lol

  • Now where's the gixxer at?

  • the daytona 675 only won because triumph is a british motorcycle manufacturer

  • i dont like this guy... why didnt they even test the 750? isnt that the best all round bike?

  • I really thought the R1 would win this. I think that without taking into consideration the price it would come out on top. The Daytona is still a gorgeous bike though.

  • Nah mate ALL about the Aprilia lol :D

  • boooooooooo....... Aprillia should have fun.

  • Are you kidding me?? Triumph???

Those have and always will be the most vibrating hand numbing pieces of shit ever made....

    R1 or stay home!!!

  • Nice to see/hear an onboard camera with the audio sorted. Crisp!!!

  • Maybe the get a little sponsorship from Triumph :)

  • Its a British motorcycle what did you expect... Crap review.

  • its also amazing different engine, best looking and you could have two triumphs for the price of one r1... and its british. ALSO why did he take it up to the rev limiter all the time, imo made it shit

  • Likin' the handlebars.

  • Chad's a teeney weeney Hulk Hogan clone - in leathers

  • aprilia is the best!

  • Awesome video, guys. Lemme take a look at the Triumph :)

  • RSV4 makes me sex wee with it's noise.

But I agree on the triumph. It's an incredible bike!

  • Jesus, this verdict is going to incite the Internet retards... flame on!

  • Triumph... my bud has a Triumph and the first component I got up close to look at said "made in Japan". Classic Triumphs are great but not new tris.

  • Aprilia is one sweet bike.

  • I'm positively gagging to own one.
