hey man this is just like your opinion man, how bout some information bout the reason WHY flash dsnt work on iphone? there must be a reason besides their totally normal marketing behaviour. It's so easy to criticize, and these criteria u offer only apply to your view on this shit. The only way to actually offer a clear view on this is to objectively present a couple of facts, and the combination of these facts will make the viewer decide what's best himself instead of forcefeeding him ur opinion
@PersonalConspiracys I thought it was because apple didn't allow flash on any of their products because the believed it drained battery life and was too inefficient. They tried to get everyone to go for html 5
theres two ways to get flash on iphone get cloudbrowser which is only available in the US or jailbreak your iphone which you can do via mac or pc browsers which wont let you use apple apps
I have to disagree, I got the 3GS since it came out and I still have no problems what so ever. Its 2 years old and I thought I would upgrade it to 4G, which is good but its horrible if you ACCUALLY buy the acual 4g Iphone, you block its wireless signals if u try to talk to someone which makes it hard to communicate on the 4G. 3GS doesn't have it though, I got no probs if you upgrade it from 3.1.2 to 4.1
Yea they say their decision is "to maintain the quality of apps in the app store", but, a lot of the apps in the app store are plain dumb or crash often or are just terrible and have tons of customers who have bought the apps furious and wanting their money back...:) What does that say about "app quality"?????? Some of those apps are very low quality for being in Apple's "high-quality app" store!!!
But also they make it slow for developers to provide updates to fix the app bugs...
I really dont care what apple thinks of Flash. It must be the customers choice whether or not they want to use Flash on their phone, even it is not all that good. At least we wont miss the full the internet experience. And the new Flash 10.1 looks great on nexus one. Why cant we have a similar one?
iPhone 4 Generation (coming out in July) is going to have flash and have 16 or 32 GB & 2 cameras on both sides and is going to blow the droid away...
Its annoying how people are like droid is better then iPhone, its true but its pretty bad once people are comparing a phone that came out 4 years ago with one that recently came out...
I should have waited to buy a 3gs. I thought I was going to get the internet experience like a Pc. I pay $30.00 a month for the internet alone for my iPhone. What do I get in return? Many white screens with a little blue box replacing flash content. This is not worth it just to have touch screen abilities. Especially what I pay every month. I was better of buying a basic cell phone and a mini Pc laptop with 3g network.
@SlavaTheUkrainian Touch support is now in Flash player 10.1 but HTML5 canvas ONLY supports the keyboard. So Apple is a dick I love their computers but I hate some of Apples mad ideas.
I have a 3GS, it's a pretty good phone but I won't be buying from apple again while they hold us ranson. I watch a lot of video's online and youtube doesn't have all the content I need, I'll defo be walking when my contract expires if they don't get this sorted.
hi im Jon im 16 and i bought the iphone 3gs 3 days after its release. i am very satisfied with the overall design and functionality of the phone. its VERY fast and the best phone i have ever owned. the only problem i had with it was the lack of the flash. it takes WONDERFUL pictures in the light. but when it comes to less lit rooms it doesn't do so well. i agree that the phone SHOULD have had a flash and that the future iphone need to have this option. the flash is the only problem ive found.
Flash... SUCKS. I'm sorry, it really really does. Most sites that use it are very poorly made. They're a jumbled mess of mark up with a peice of shit flash site on top that can't be accessed properly with speech to text readers and so on. It's also a resource hog and a security issue. Flash has security holes, that's the big reason it's on so few mobile devices. It allows root access with some nasty code, and it needs fixing BADLY.
I think it should have it just like I think my mbp should have a HDMI port rather than having to dick around with two wires and run all over town looking for them. Apple are great but they seem to be abit snotty too.......
Honestly I never knew how money sites used flash until I bought my iPhone 3gs!!! Whether it's useful or not, flash should definately be included on the iPhone. Kinda sucks, but I've just had to deal.
why would they bother with flash? you will still buy thier phone anyway
it's like thier glossy screens, every screen in the apple store is glossy, and glossy sucks anytime there are other sources of light, or daylight, but how hard is it to get a matte screen
Most people prefer strong saturated virbant colour on their screens than otherwise. Matte is more popular with designers because you get more accurate true-to-life colour representation, but for the vast majority that would look too washed and not "shiny" enough for their taste. Most people USE media on their screen, rather than create it. For those who do, Matte is the way forward.
For me, safari mobile is already slow, so flash would just slow it down more. It would be kind of cool, but it's not that important to me. Maybe Adobe will put it in cydia. Or it could get flash lite 3.0, which is somewhat the equivalent of flash 8, like the wii recently did.
i cannot see apple adopting flash at all, its either html5 or something else, flash has a lot of disadvantages, ACCORDING to apple and steve jobs. i dont know enough to comment, fully. but we shall see
Flash has always been kinda sucky as far as what platforms support it. 64-bit Linux flash has been easy to make for a long time, but has it been made? NO.
Apples smart for not releasing flash support yet. The iPhone 3GS is selling fine without it.
Their going to wait for the new iPhone to come out, then give it flash support. Wile the older models will not have flash support. So people will go crazy over the fact that the iPhone has flash, then buy the new model because of flash.
i.e. The iPhone 3GS. People wanted a video camera, so Apple gave them one, bumped up the processing speed. Then sold a shit load of phones, with minimal change
Flash still has a chance to get on iPhones & iPod Touches, although Apple did not attend the conference for 10.1, Apple has been working side by side with Adobe to develop a custom version of Adobe Flash for their phones and ipods
I do still love my iPhone 3GS but I think if I have paid £540 for my phone surely I have the right to use flash instead of the app store and such. With flash I would watch hulu etc and not stop buying apps and buying off iTunes. Come on apple
Adobe don't try to make Flash amazing on the Mac and the best video player out there on the Mac side online is Quicktime! The iPhone plays YouTube videos and thats the only site on the web which I use Flash for. I think Flash was a better product when it was under the Macromedia name! I am very surprised how ever that Google haven't made everyone use their video player for YouTube?
Flash was forced onto the world by Microsoft back in the 90's when they were in a bitter struggle with Netscape and Apple. They couldn't produce their own video player to compete with Quicktime, so they bundled Flash with IE and got at it that way. This is why you have to instal Flash seperately for other browsers other than IE. QuickTime went more for the "open source" ethos by letting ppl hook into the code for it to work, MS wanted something they could control the market with.
@TalesOfWar quicktime isn't open and flash offers a lot that has no alternative but silverlight. video was recently deleted from html5 and the proposals have a subset of what flash can do, with no steps taken to address the performance problems that javascript and html create with their costly approaches.
zealous fanbois and proprietors of crippleware who advocate "just do without" just don't get it: people love features more than warm fuzzy feelings about a company or a style or an ideology
That wasnt implying Microsoft made Flash by the way, they approached Macromedia who were very Windows friendly at the time, which obviously changed when Adobe bought them. Adobe are more Mac frienldy, but it seems that didn't change the way they see Flash on the Mac, which is likely a contiuation of the competition from back then. It's amazing how things pan out really and how things are linked together.
Yer thats true about M$ making Flash what it is today, I have never thought about it in that way. I prefer the QuickTime player to the Flash player in a big way, the Flash player is just so behind! The mobile internet began when the iPhone came out and most people browse the internet on the Safari browser so the sites should adopt QuickTime for the ever growing mobile revolution! I wasn't a very big Macromedia fan but I don't like Adobe very much anymore, I use to think Adobe where awesome!
The iPhone would be pretty close to perfect if it had support for Flash. It has the power and the best mobile browser so why not get Flash on the 3G(S). I have a 3GS and love it, but I certainly do miss Flash.

how are you going to play keyboard computer flash games on a smartphone?
iphone has apps for everything.
Steve Jobs put mac up from his knees.
Wanna play? Get a PC or a PS3 or XBOX
All the major websites, like youtube or facebook, to make it more confortable for the users make apps for phones, not browser based.

Sure it would be nice for some sites etc but it would not stop me buying an iphone again in the future.
