My mini did the same thing. She would hide and wait til we open the front door and then she bolted and visit all the neighbors. I would get within two steps of getting her and she would bolt the other direction. The neighbors would say, "we got a loose weiner again" when they would see me making an ass of myself on a regular basis. Eventually I would get help from neighborhood children to corner her. LOL!!!
